For those of you who have been watching Arthur for the past few years, what were some changes in the show that caused fans to be divisive in their opinions? Some of the changes I can think of were the Kate and Pal episodes where they were talking and the later episodes where they changed the animation from traditional animation to flash animation.

I don't really know. All I know is that DW causes one too many Wall Bangers.

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!

Oh yeah, D.W. was quite a Base Breaker for many fans, especially in the episode "Arthur's Big Hit."

That show is still on? Do kids really watch it? Wow..

Any cartoon that has been on for more than a decade is bound to decline. No show on for that long has been perfect to a general audience.

I actually watched the show this morning for the first time since I was like...six.

My first thought was, "Haven't I seen this before?"

It seems like they're going to the same morals ad nauseum now: be nice to your sibling, try new things, face your fears, etc.

Isn't DW a Scrappy?

[up] Inb4 everyone says it's DW's fault this show fell in quality.

My two cents: The over - abundance of repeated and forced morals, plus the fact that the show still keeps going and going. There should have been something else for these artists and writers to go forward onto over this, if the old crews haven't left already. I don't know, honestly - I haven't kept up with this show in quite some time, and with how I wasn't too big on it, I can't help but feel indifferent to it. My condolences to anyone whose feels opposite and is not a fan of the overall decline, though.

No one said the new animation yet?

It looks like the old computer games except worse somehow.

The old Arthur Living Books games?

Those were great, and the animation in them still holds up to this day.

[up][up]eh. While it's obviously worse, the show never had great animation to begin with. At least imo. Very stiff and boring.

At least it was easy on the eyes.

And besides, this new Flash style is even more stiff.

I stopped watching the show years ago because I didn't feel like going out of my way to keep up with it (I can't even keep up with shows where I actually am the target audience, so why bother trying for one where the target audience is a third of my age?). However, I did see a commercial with clips of some newer episides, and that animation looks horrendous.

Anyone here ever heard of a little flick called The Golden Blaze? It's a fun, reasonably well-written movie (with Blair Underwood, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Neil Patrick Harris, oddly) that homages superhero comics in a fun way, but you can clearly tell it was made on the cheap, because dear Lord nearly the whole movie is incredibly amateur Flash work, to the point that bad Newgrounds movies are more technically proficient than some parts of the movie.

My point? Even that movie's animation is miles better than what I saw in that commercial.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

Actually, this thread was supposed to just point out what subjects in this show would be considered a Broken Base for this show, such as the new animation and some of the changes, not complaining about this show.

Maybe this thread should be axed if the discussions get worse.

[up]I did hear that Arthur entered it's seventeenth season in 2013-2014.

The most recent episode I watched was Arthur's Big Hit because of Enter's Animated Atrocity on it.
