Will they upload the presentation later today? I couldn't watch it live and I'm on a strict no spoilers diet.

I think Nintendo has a time error, because the direct isn't ready yet, it seems.

Well, that trailer was an interesting thing to watch. Between the confirmed playability of Corrin and Bayonetta, and the awesomeness that is the Midgar Stage, and the Mii Fighters costumes for Geno and Knuckles, I was left rather excited! When those items are all available for purchase, I'll be sure to do in a heartbeat!

Now that the final batch of DLC is announced, I'll be picking up all the available content after Christmas.

I revise my statement.

Going content-complete right away will cost roughly $100, so I'll be picking up just the bundles that have fighters in them at this juncture. The ones with just stages and costumes can wait for a bit.

Wow.

That was something. Truthfully, it makes me wish I played Smash, but I'd be annihilated all day everyday.

Be a fun time though.

You know, with all the stuff Nintendo has been doing for Smash, it really makes me hope that they'll be ready to actually bring in Third Parties for the NX.

You mean working with people who are already willing to partner with them?

Yeah.

I'm just saying, maybe this might open the door to better third party stuff for NX.

I mean, who wouldn't want the Final Fantasy VII remake on a Nintendo system. It'd be cool.

And if we get stuff like that, and Nintendo shows games like that can sell on their systems, other Third Parties might decide Cash Money is in the air and get their heads out of their asses about working with Nintendo again, then we'll have games for NX as well as whatever new system Microsoft (are they making a new system for the next gen) and Sony make.

Of course, you must remember, my business knowledge is equivalent to that of a wet noodle (as in, said noodle knows more) so I'm probably so full of shit [[{Squick}} my food will never taste right again]]......

Right, that might have been a bit too much on my part. Sorry.

Anyway, point is, I want a new Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo console, and not just a handheld. Done and done.

Now, I await all of you telling me why I'm an idiot who knows nothing, as is the right of all internet dwellers.

I'd actually like to see Square go all in with support, with release FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Dragon Quest XI.

[up]

Yes. This is what I'm talking about.

But we know Nintendo has to make it worthwhile. That's why it's all on the NX to look worth it.

At least that's one half of the battle. The other half is Third Parties being willing to really try. If they aren't it won't matter how good the NX is or isn't will it?

The problem is that third parties tried to bolster the Wii U. And nobody bought their stuff. So they lost money on it.

A company can't, in good conscience, put games on the system if they know they're not going to make money on them.

Nintendo's current strategy of partnering with other studios and giving them access to Nintendo characters to create unique experiences is actually working better for them than simply trying to convince third-parties to port their games did.

That's true, but wasn't that because Nintendo did a shit job of advertising (the average layman thought Wii U was an add on for Wii if I recall) so a lot of people who weren't hardcore gamers either didn't know about it or didn't keep it when they found out it was a separate system or something along those lines.

If they do a better job promoting it this time, and show it can sell, I'd imagine third parties would be more willing to give it another shot right?

I'm still annoyed Nintendo botched their full year head start on Sony and Microsoft, so I can see your point. And it's true that their current method is a good one

There's also the fact that most Nintendo fans who would've bought those third party ports already had them.

Good point.

But that's why getting them to develop these games at the same time, instead of after the Sony and Microsoft versions are already out is important.

If they can be convinced that they can make good money by making versions for all systems, they'll hopefully do it.

But this is really all just naive dreaming on my part. No business sense remember.

Except they can't and it's already been proven that they can't. Nintendo fans ask for third-party games, and then don't buy them when they come out.

At some point, the fault for the current situation lands squarely on the consumer.

Consumers still buy Just Dance. On the Wii.

We'll probably get another Direct late January/early February to confirm Corrin and Bayonetta's release date, get info on TP HD, and final Wii U/3DS news before they unveil NX.
