Tropers - The first of many exciting updates to TV Tropes is upon us! In this update, we focused primarily on making the header and side navigation bars consistent throughout the site. We also reworked a ton of the backend code to allow for easier and more rapid development as we move forward.
Some of you may love the new design, others may hate it. Either way, we would love to hear from you below. We are listening, I promise.
If you have a bug to report, please use the designated thread on the Tech Wishlist and Bug Report to let us know about it.
Now get back to Troping!

It used to be possible to link Live Blogs to the works page that they were a blog of. The linkage still exists in the Live Blog itself, but the works page no longer has a link to its set of Live Blogs.
Low priority, to be sure. But I still want to see that functionality restored.
I like the new design overall, but I have a small complaint about the Fanfic Rec pages, and that is that the reviews button only brings up a dialogue to add a new review, and I am unable to view ones already there, would posting my own actually fix this or is it a bug?
Did anyone order a large can of Snark? That's a bug, and the admins are aware of it.
I'm going to keep it short and simple: I don't like it.
I can either be a devilish angel or an angelic devil. You decide.Any particular reason? Or anything we can change so you do?
Are there plans to change the footer so it has the same light blue color scheme as the header? On the dev site, the footer is currently white and dark blue.

Yeah - we are redoing the footer this week.
Is 500000 still a character limit for pages? Main.Magnum Opus has passed it but I don't know whether I should or shouldn't with the new coding?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Yes, the pages still break at the 500K character limit. To be completely honest, I think that page's content is ridiculously broken, to the point that the term no longer has meaning, but that's a TRS all its own.

I like the fact that the color of the header changes from the Main site to the Darth Wiki to the Sugar Wiki, while retaining a similar look. I do think the color on the Main site and the Sugar Wiki should be lighter though. The Sugar Wiki was always this fluffy cotton candy color but now it's more of a hot pink.
The header I actually like its color. But it feels... empty. Maybe it's just my monitor's ludicrous resolution.
~Morgan Wick: Awesome, glad to hear it.
Note the lack of gradient on the sidebar. And yes, I will keep banging on that drum.

The gradient is on its way out. We aren't crazy about it either. The extended search bar is interesting - might have to play around with that a little bit.
I am in favor of the extended search bar. It fills up space in the header without making it cluttered by dozes of buttons. That combined with the light blue header and solid grey sidebar makes the entire thing a lot more pleasing to the eye.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Huh. My personal idea was more of using the top bar with alternating buttons - the page edit ones for logged in users in wiki articles, and the "Random", "Media" and "Tropes" ones in the forum and for not logged in users. Logograph's colour concept is good either way though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLogograph? What is that?
Get rid of the walled gardenA symbol or logo which represents a word (e.g. the gents/ladies/disabled/etc signs used for different public loos).
EDIT: Whoops, I wasn't being snarky; just tired and without coffee.

TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerThank you, but what does the "Logograph" button do on the beta site?
Get rid of the walled gardenIt's his forum avatar. For me it's "SeptimusHeap".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think you mean handle/username. Avatar's the picture :P
Aw, I like the gradient.
@1092: I think the powers that be want to keep the top bar as consistent as possible. It makes sense to put the page edit functions in what I guess could be called the "secondary bar", as they're specific to the wiki portion of the site.
Too bad, I would have liked it if there had been an interesting new feature behind that button. "Logograph"... no idea what this could fit, but it's like with some old trope names: Whatever it is, the name alone makes you curious.
Get rid of the walled garden
The very thing you suggested is currently active on the dev wiki. I think the admins at this point want to push through a bunch more changes at once, and simpler changes like the bar of editing stuff will wait until bigger stuff like the mobile layout are confirmed to be working.
