According to this US DSOD DVD review, the Japanese audio is intact but the subtitles are the dub lines instead of the original. According to a comment on the review the UK release doesn't have this discrepancy, so I think we can blame Anchor Bay (the distribution company for the US release) on this one since a similar thing happened with their Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Blu-Ray release.
This will make comparing the versions harder than it should be XD; It’s even weirder since Bonds Beyond Time had both audios and both English closed captions and Japanese subs, but this one doesn’t. Guess we could list this as Bad Export for You?
The Protomen enhanced my life.I knew something would go wrong! Even if this time isnt 4K Media's fault.

EDIT: I just imagined Yami Bakura wearing Ryou’s light blue plaid outfit from the manga/DSOD and cracked up.

The Protomen enhanced my life.Kaiba's Blasphemous Boast shows his ego has somehow increased since tasting defeat. I mean seriously, where'd this notion of firing God come from?
As for the Ring being evil, remember that Mahad is the Dark Magician. I suspect he was just that powerful that he was able to control the Ring instead of the Ring controlling him, channeling its darkness into his own powers.
Kaiba's ego could get bigger? Seriously, how does his head not explode? Or how do others remain in the same room as him without being pushed out by its sheer pressure?
Wake me up at your own risk.I read somewhere that that was the case, though in the manga Mahad speculated it was the previous owner's evil that made it so, well, evil. It also gave him a vision of Kul Elna, and when he told Aknamonaknon he promptly die of guilt.
Though the manga also says pretty explicitly that Bakura/Zorc's evil is gone from the Ring after the final game, and if anything else was in there, since anything part of Zorc IS Zorc (like Bakura, Aknadin's Mummy, etc.) it'd have died too.
I could think of tons of ways Yami Bakura could come back post-series, many of which are explored in fanfics (sealing his soul inside yet another object, slowly taking over Ryou's life/body, playing one final winner-take-all game with his host, etc.) but very few ways for Yami Yugi to come back, so it's kinda funny that the movie reversed that.
I remember some manga-only fans were upset at the anime having him want to take over Mokuba's body since 'Ryou is his destined host for the battle of millennia' and while he was willing to injure him if he died he'd die too. Since DSOD has the Ring try to kill Ryou, for me that's a big indicator that whatever is in the Ring in the movie, it's not Yami Bakura.

The Protomen enhanced my life.Kaiba maybe an arrogant twat but he is also a very pragmatic when ti comes to anything that isn't the card game or Yugi.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."As I re-watch Zexal, a reason for why I've always liked Quattro occurs to me.
He has a good design.
It seems to me each YGO series has sort of "flanderized" itself, taking all the jokes about Yugi's hair and running with them. Zexal is the worst of them all from what I've seen (I have not watched ARC-V or the newest series yet) and it just makes everyone impossible to take seriously if I look at them too long.
But Quattro actually looks pretty cool. His hair coloring is not aggressively flamboyant like Kite's or Yuma's, same for the styling. Like the coat, too.
I also like Quattro's Gimmick Puppet deck.
I'm at Quattro's and Tres' tag duel against Yuma and Kite. I have forgotten so much about this series.

The DSOD movie brings everyone from the manga more in line with Zexal, Arc-V and VRAINS' art styles, and some of the hairstyles got even crazier as a result XD I think Kaiba and Mokuba have the only normal hair out of everyone.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I'll have to buy the movie next month. Is it at least decent?
Also I wonder if it's a dub flaw that Kite asks "who are you?" when first meeting Quinton. In their very next meeting, they know each other and start to build on the backstory.
DSOD looks and sounds amazing but the more you think about it the more confusing it gets, and not just cause it's based more on the manga then the anime.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Is it just my imagination or does Yuma pretty much always manage to draw and play Gogogo Golem at the start of every duel?
I don't recall this being a problem with Yugi but I get the feeling Jaden had a similar ability to always get one card to start off his duels. Can't remember anything about Yusei's duels. I should probably re-watch 5D's, maybe go beyond Dark Signers.
I distinctly remember Yusei always using the exact same opening combo to bring out Junk Warrior in the early stages of 5D's. I don't think he really started to change things up until the Dark Signer arc.

My Megaman and MegaTen liveblogsYusei opened with Speed Warrior a lot as far as I remember.
Looking at the Zexal YMMV page is pretty harsh. I don't even know where the "hypocrisy" criticism comes into play with Yuma. I find him generic but that's the extent of my criticism. I haven't liked any of the MC's apart from Jaden anyway.
I wonder if Zexal will end up like GX, appreciated once it's over and some years have passed. I always felt Zexal was clearly more in the spirit of GX anyway,

I mean, he's called out in Episode 9 about how he (ab)uses Utopia to constantly win because lol Number, and then challenges Shark to a duel where he promises that he won't use Utopia. He then proceeds to break his promise when he realizes he can't win without Utopia, and then loses anyway because Shark's badass like that and gives no shits.
I'm not sure about anything beyond that one incident, though?

There's a couple Zexal anti-fans out there who really, really hate Kotori and mention it on tons of pages, though I dunno if that's Yuma-related XD;
Also, Yugi tended to start a lot of early duels by putting Celtic Guardian in attack mode with nothing to defend it XD Poor Celtic Guardian.
Also I can't help but feel bad for Thief King Bakura if only because Aknadin, who killed everyone in his village to make the Items, got to go to the afterlife and be happy but whether Bakura did is unknown. It was Zorc's fault for planting the book, but still.

The Protomen enhanced my life.I hated Yuma because of his incompetence, and the fact that, since Astral would flat out disappear if he lost, that meant the plot was gonna make sure he won despite his being a dumbass, at least in the early series. I understand he got better, but that still didn't mean much for me.
As for Kotori, she had the poor luck of being a non duelist in a series where everyone was a duelist. I also hear one of the staff members was a little obsessed with her or something like that, which probably drew all the wrong kinds of attention.
One Strip! One Strip!I read that in Japan, people liked Zexal and Yuma because they enjoyed seeing him go from a bad duelist to a good one, clawing his way up from nothing. Kotori did have a lot of fanservicey moments, and a lot of times she only said Yuma's name and nothing else for an entire episode XD; And the one time she did duel, when brainwashed, she still lost.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Kotori was literally added to the series to get pedos to watch the show. Like, the director straight-up admitted this on Twitter.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Got a source?
The Protomen enhanced my life. Not on hand but I've heard this multiple places.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I'd heard something like that as well.
As for Yuma growing as a duelist, I suppose that was inevitable, so I can get that appeal.
Does this mean that they don't care for a lot of the other heroes?
Is Yuya's egao considered shit in Japan? I get the feeling it would be.
One Strip! One Strip!
I've always seen it as MST 3 K, personally.
Edit: That linking was 100% unintentional, for the record.
