The Armored Vehicle Thread

Garcon: Likely supplanted by the U 9 Unmanned Armored Vehicle. It packs an IFV sized vehicle into a Humvee sized vehicle. It has the 30mm Auto-cannon and mounts the four guided ATGM's. I will find the details for you in a bit.

You can see one here. There is a human next to it and you can see part of a tank in the back. Gives you rough sense of scale.

It is packing a 30mm Auto-cannon and what looks like an articulated frame that from what I can find are Ataka (AT-9) ATGM SALCOS missiles. Think like the Kornet missiles but shorter ranged then the EM Kornet.

There was a Pakistani vs India vs pretty much everyone else exchange of insults. Even more than /k/'s usual standard. So the thread got archived and no one can post on it.

Check Oryx Blog's Twitter feed. There are OSINT reports of a Turkish M60T north of Mosul with Israeli Blazer ERA that got hit by a Kornet, turret front, and it looks like the ERA protected the tank successfully.

(Armor versus missile speculations aside, there are Turkish tanks north of Mosul? Since when?)

Looks like the modern ERA kits are holding up pretty well in the field.

Probably ever since the Iraqi government collapsed in the north.

If they're on Iraqi territory, that's a tank of a whole different colour.

Nah, China mostly doesn't do the "execute then bill" business any more. It's a different kind of deeply-corrupt authoritarianism; less "Stalin-era USSR", more "Gilded Age era US", only even more so.

M60T: Does anyone know what the tank is supposed to look like under the Blazer kit? The photos I have found don't exactly lend themselves to discerning whether any penetration occurred. In any case, I'm curious as to how Daesh is training its ATGM users; I wouldn't have much confidence in achieving anything but attract enemy attention by aiming one at a ERA plate mounted over a tank's turret front...

Also, the Royal Malaysian Army is getting 24 M109A6s.
