The Joker's and Harley's dark comedy would make it difficult to have a completely serious movie, particularly since the later is one of the leads.

Yeah, well. You'd think a Superman movie would be all about traditional Superheroing, the whole "Save everyone, fight for justice, be a hero!" thing, but they've proven they won't do that, for whatever reason.
As long as this movie is fun. The premise is so fucking silly, the movie has to be too or it just won't work.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I'm expecting a Batman: Assault on Arkham tone for this movie, but I could do with anything.
I'm starting to think he might not have the tattoos in the actual movie and this was just for the 75th Anniversary.
Since almost all the tattoos reference something that is iconic to the Joker in those 75 years.
The cards might reference the cards on the cover of his first appearance and the robin on his right arm references Jason Todd's death.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThe expression is 100% Joker seeing his face in Killing Joke so you might be onto something.

I don't mind the tattoos (although I'd have to imagine that Leto!Joker is going to wear a shirt at some point). Lots of people who do long prison sentences get tattoos in the inside and there have been some criminals (as well as law abiding people) who have gone for extreme body modification. I sort of thought of this guy.
I think Leto has been spotted on set wearing a really nice looking white suit.
He was wearing a white suit in the leaked photos from Leto's phone.
He also didn't have face tattoos in those three images.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure@ Cruherrx,
Heh, it is amusing. It certainly fixed my main problem with the image (the lack of smile).
The problem for me isn't the tattoos - it's the ridiculous amount of them. Joker looks like Zsaz.

One thing that does disappoint me about this movie is that it means that Marvel can't use Boomerang in a Thunderbolts movie, since he's almost the exact same guy (down to costume) as DC's Captain Boomerang.
- looks at new joker design*
Ah. Well then.
- cancels plans to see all upcoming DC movies*
I actually really like the tattoos, with the exception of the forehead one. It'd give him an really interesting design, especially if at one point he still dons his usual suit.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. This is how Letoker would look with the Joker suit◊
Seems pretty great to me.
Forehead tat needs to go.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Who knows how he will look with the suit, with a different pose and in motion. His hands are pulling back his hair in that shot, making the forehead tattoo more noticeable. His hair could easily cover it up when doing something else.
I do notice something else, some mild scars around his eyes and cheeks. Like the fake teeth it makes sense because multiple encounters with Batman would leave him with some injuries over the years.
Plus not having a grill with those tats would be wiggity whack, yo.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Shouldn't Manta be in like, Atlantis jail? His thing is fucking with Aquaman, so unless they arrested him for knocking down that lighthouse, you'd think most of his crimes would be Atlantis-centric.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Well, Manta is a human, so maybe the Atlanteans don't want him there, even as a prisoner, so they gave him back.
IIRC, he's attacked human ships as well, and is a globally known modern day pirate, so... not to mention, if Aquaman is just entering the superhuman community now, maybe this Manta hasn't even met Aquaman yet. They might be saving that for an eventual Aquaman solo movie.
On the off chance he has those tattoos in the movie... honestly? With the exception of the forehead tattoo, I like them. The Joker would totally cover himself in distracting tattoos that overwhelmingly are homages to himself. He's that kind of person.
Aww...I actually really liked them. Aw well, the general makeup design still looks spot-on. I really liked this fresh take though. It was just the right amount of original and new but still true to the comics.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."
So, I hadn't been that interested in this movie because the premise sounded too crazy for "Obsessed-with-grimdark" DC to actually pull off.
But after seeing that Joker? Yeah, I believe it. They're definitely not taking this seriously, and that's great.
