It was all primarily the SU fandom grabbing images out of context (cause lol none of them would actually watch the show ) like this and claiming the show was offensive to everything from fat people to transgendered people to POC because they didn't want their precious inclusive show being polluted by something soooooooooooooo "problematic."

The funniest thing about it is that the shows creator, Rebecca Sugar, who is praised by the fandom for creating such a inclusive show came up with the idea for the crossover and approved of everything in it.

[up]I've heard the whole offensive to fat people thing even before the crossover because the first episode was about UG helping a fat kid be confident about his body. How people got offensiveness out of that, probably desperate to find something bad about it.

I know it was an April fools day episode, but I'm surprised Sugar was the one to come up with the idea.

At least the episode itself said at the beginning it wasn't canon. Though that was probably thrown in at the last minute to calm people's fear about that show having a role in SU's canon. Which I can understand as UG isn't really a show that's gonna appeal to everyone and it is jarring to see a show as goofy as UG be crossover with a show that's a bit more dramatic and serious like SU.

I suppose they think it's offensive because it's a wacky comedy cartoon and there is no possible way it could not be offensive.

Which makes me pine for the days of Fatman and Boy Blubber.

[up]It's likely they were looking for a reason to be mad at the show and to say it's bad.

[up][up] Thats probably the case, which would explain why the claims of offensive materials were mainly primarily based on out of context stills from the show.

These are some of the many reasons why I hate Fanbases(bronies, pokefags, and GEMBROS!): they're either trying to be exclusive or sexist or keep things the same way, that's how the TTG thread just got locked.

I don't even associate with most fans anymore.

Every fanbase has it's loud assholes. But that shouldn't stop you from liking the fandom as a whole or wanting to be a part of them.

Take the Game Grumps fandom, for example. Even before the whole Jon fiasco, their have a lot of watchers that get pissed off cause of what one of the grumps did, even if it isn't something to get worked up about. And it has gotten me annoyed many times before. But still, I don't hate the fandom as a whole. I admit that some people in their are nutsos or jackasses, but that doesn't stop me from loving the community. For every loud asshole, their are several nicer, more quieter ones that aren't as bad. Saying something like "this fandom is toxic"(Which I've heard many many times before when big dramas happen with the Grumps) comes off as a blanket statement that isn't really true. Not everyone in a fandom is bad. It's just that the loudest ones are the one that get the most attention, unfortunately.

Fans like those who shield Steven Universe like it's precious, for example, are the kind of people I can't associate with and enjoy making fun of where I can get away with it. They are also part of the reason I find these precious shows not only horribly overrated, but hard to stomach sometimes, knowing I can't openly criticize them whenever deserved.

I'll be blunt - it's fanbase-related and overly judgementalist crap like this is why I proudly watch Littlest Pet Shop or Penn Zero Part Time Hero over noise like My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic or Star Vs The Forces Of Evil anyday. Anything to escape the crowds not worth being apart of. Ever.

I'm sorry, people who let fanbases decide their choices on whether or not to watch a show shows a weak will.

People need to stop using fanbases as an excuse to watch a show or not. I hate hearing people use that as a reason all the time.

Watch a show based off its characters, writing, your enjoyment of that. Those are the main/only reasons to focus on watching a show.

[up][up]I was one of them. The episode that was about that Uncle Grandpa story in SMFA only fueled it more.

[up]This!

I understand if you want to be a part of a fandom, but don't let them stop you from enjoying what they enjoy.

I personally enjoyed the Uncle Grandpa crossover, but feel I should point out that fans who got mad at the shot of him cross dressing probably weren't doing so because they thought it was offensive to transgender people. UG was actually dressed as the main character's dead mother, who died giving birth to him. That scene is Steven's first meeting with UG so he has a brief moment where it seems that the mother he never got a chance to know has miraculously come back to life. With that in mind its only natural that some fans would get mad at the scene and decide that UG is an unlikeable asshole.

Also that picture of an obese kid in glasses is clearly based on Steven himself (who is slightly overweight but not to that extent and is never mocked for it) due to the shirt and bellybutton gem, so its not surprising they'd feel that exaggerated caricature is insulting.

[up][up] While I loved the crossover, when UG appears dressed at Rose I always cringe and feel uneasy. It just feels so wrong to use Rose for a cheap joke.

Bringing it back to the pilots, it turns out Lizz Hickey (the Buzzfeed artist who made the Jammers pilot) Hates donation sites and tells poor artists to just get a job. All this from an artist working for a wildly popular clickbait website.

I was being facetious before because I didn't like the pilot, but now I really hope Jammers doesn't get picked up.

[up][up][up][up] The very first episode of uncle grandpa (discounting the pilot and backdoor pilot) "Belly Bros" was about UG telling a chubby kid not to feel bad about being fat (and also how to use your belly to make a fist in order to punch wolves from a T-Shirt realm)

[up][up][up][up] Ironically, the UG writers weren't involved in say uncle. The boarders behind the episodes were not only SU boarders, but the ones who boarded the episode also boarded two different poignant rose related episodes (Lion 3 and Story for Steven)

Oh, I 'did' watch Uncle Grampa. Can't stand it at all. No substance, no flash. Even worse is that they aired their April Fools' Day episode on April 2nd, which is something that even Johnny Bravo called its main character an idiot for doing. We went from mocking idiots to acting like them. And given the kind of shows we see get approved and the ones that get destroyed permanently, I'm surprised more people aren't on my side.

Cartoon Network's action cartoons were always boring and Cartoon Network's current lineup of comedy cartoons is better than all the previous Cartoon Cartoons except possibly Courage.

Pitch the nostalgia goggles right in the trash where they belong already. Cartoons right now, as we speak, are better in writing quality and imagination than any point I've ever been alive for, and that goes back to the 80's.

And Sonic Boom is UNBEARABLY WEAK. I never cared about Sonic before, but when I watch this show, it pains me how it has all the elements of something good but feels devoid of energy. The animation, the writing, and acting, it all feels half-asleep. They don't even animate Sonic to actually look like he moves fast. They just give him normal looking running speed with fancy blur effects. Long periods are awkwardly devoid of sound effects or music. Facial expressions are stiff and lifeless. Just 20% more passion and they'd have a good show.

Alright, I don't like 90s children either and I do get annoyed by their nostalgic monologues, but I feel that you are being way too one-sided and narrow-minded as well.

The 90s did have good shows, it wasn't an era of undeniable rubbish.

From the 90s, I enjoyed Hey Arnold! Cartoons from CN were things like Samurai Jack, Megas XLR and such that were entertaining.

Then there are good stuff from today, but it ain't a haven for the gifts from heaven. There are several horrid shows, in fact, so much that I prefer to not watch any television at all.

[up]I think this era has better stuff than some of the shit we had towards the end of the 2000's. More than enough to keep me watching tv.

[up][up][up][up] Have you considered that they have a timeslot and they generally can't show new episodes out of that timeslot?

Also, what is this bull crap about being "destroyed permanently"? Unless they set the masters on fire or have legal problems with showing it, they can still show them.

I only enjoy Steven Universe from CN and that is only conceptional-wise, the dialogue is still too awful.

The rest are generic or bland, I prefer French and Eastern animation nowadays.

Sweet Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Does that mean she hates Kickstarter?

In any case, I also hope Jammers doesn't get picked up. It was bad enough that the pilot wasn't that great, but now the creator sounds like a complete and utter b*tch?

No thank you!
