There was once a time when hearing Tatum, of all people, was starring in a Gambit movie, it would have worried me.
These days, on the other hand, it makes me cautiously optimistic since I've heard people have had promising reactions to his more recent roles (even if I haven't seen most of them myself). And, unlike some actors that I hear a lot of good things about, he doesn't strike me as the overhyped and overrated type, either.
Hearing he's really into the character is a good sign, too.

The Wrap is reporting the project may be in jeopardy because Channing Tatum wants out of the project.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureNever saw the appeal of Gambit anyway. Make a movie about Storm fighting the Shadow King.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! With respect, you guys, I'm calling BS on this.
A) Tatum has gone on and on about how he loves Gambit.
B) He was actually learning card tricks for this.
And C) He even crashed Fox's SDCC panel with Stan Lee!
And now they're saying he wants to drop out? Surely this has to be a hoax.

It's not a hoax. He's probably trying to renegotiate his contract publicly.
Eh? How? By purposefully making a ruckus and kinda taking advantage of how people on the Internet get rage-y and panicky over this kind of stuff?
I dunno. This all sounds fishy...
Very fishy...
Not people on the internet, but other than that, the gist is basically correct.
I don't know why you don't believe this. Shit like this happens a lot. It might even be that he is walking; it's happened a lot with properties that creators have invested in far more than Channing Tatum probably invested in Gambit.
I feel Carrot Top would be a more effective choice than Tatum anyway.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Isn't he in his late 50's - early 70's?
EDIT: in any case, if Tatum ends up walking out on this and the movie is suppose to be coming on October of 2016, they're gonna have to find themselves a new Gambit and fast.
And that might take some time for a movie with a rather tight schedule (or at least for what I assume is a rather tight schedule for a movie)...

They have until October to find a new Gambit(that's when filming starts) but if Tatum has changed his mind this late in the game they're probably just gonna cancel the movie for now and focus on the other movies.
Damn, did not expect this to happen.
We still haven't heard anything from Tatum or Fox yet btw.
x4 He's 50 years even.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I remember back when Jean Clau Van Damme was considered for the role of Gambit.
Frankly, I'd still be up for Van Damme Gambit if only for the experiment of it. He has learned how to act, evidently

"All you Fascists bound to lose."There's a gulf between acting in your native language and your second language.
He had a fairly good showing in the Expendables 2 and Uniersal Soldier 4: Day of Reckoning.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Despite reports that he was thinking about leaving Channing Tatum closes deal to play Gambit.
I guess his people leaked that he wanted to leave so Fox could give him a better deal.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThat stuff is risky, putting the reputation of the film at risk to squeeze a few more bucks out of them may work short term but can net you a reputation for putting that kind of pressure on productions.
The whole "dropping out" thing was bogus?
Ha! Called it!
It's kind of a dick move but it happens all the time in Hollywood. If you look at the What Could Have Been page for film, it's even noted that they almost went with The Wasp in The Avengers because Scarlett Johansson threatened to walk unless they bumped up her salary.
It's an old ultimatum but it often works.
Not necessarily.
^^ That's actually a little different, basic contract negotiation typically involves rejecting an offered salary four or five times, especially if she wasn't locked-in for Avengers when she signed on for Iron Man 2. Being good to go with a movie for months and backing out just before filming starts is a sucker punch.
There's a good chance Tatum had next to nothing to do with this, and was just a bottomfeeder thing.

Bella Donna will be the female lead, and they're looking at Lea Seydoux, Abby Lee, and Rebecca Ferguson for the part.

Given how passionate Tatum seems to be about the Gambit character, I'm looking forward to more news about this.
