If people complain about that I'd be more inclined to vote for it instead, for various reasons I'm probably not going to bring up here.
Check out my fanfiction! It doesn't look fetishized to me.
48 gets points for being less busy than the Superman image, but I do still like that one quite a lot for the "whoa" factor of seeing Superman, of all characters, being impaled, as well as the more overt brutality of it. I'm honestly not sure which one I prefer.
Since we're on a DC kick, I might as well point out that the picture on MoralEventHorizon.ComicBooks would be a reasonable choice to move here.

Nah, I think it fits better there. More insane battering than fearsome killing.
Check out my fanfiction! My vote for Darth Vader. It's the clearest example in this thread by far.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! It's too bad the width is 250, because there's a really good one of Vader standing over a dead Jedi and about to face off with a Bolivian Army of them. Except, you know. He kills them all.
Remember, a character doesn't actually have to kill a single hero to be considered a Hero Killer — he just has to be powerful enough so he can.
Maybe that opens some other possibilities? Hmmm.
What image is that? Because I'm pretty sure a very similar image is already used in The Heavy
The one I'm talking about is from a comic or a fan art. Also I had a dumb moment and forgot the limit was 350, not 250, so...
Y'know, as much as I like the Superman pic, that one is really good as well.
I like the Vader pic more too
Oh really when?I like that Vader image.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm gonna stop suggesting stuff but that one's my personal favorite
The dead girl on the floor looks to me more like a Red Shirt than an actual Hero. (Yes, even with recognition of the fact that she has a light saber in her chopped-off hand. Not every Jedi is an important character who would normally be protected by Plot Armor.)

I think they're about equal.
Check out my fanfiction!Again, you don't have to kill heroes to be a Hero Killer, so that's not necessarily a deal breaker.
Well, any villain can be a Red Shirt Killer.
Check out my fanfiction!Looks like several images have gained support. Should we run a crowner?
Might be an idea.
Check out my fanfiction!Killing a Red Shirt is not the point of this trope at all, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanKilling Superman or Wonder Woman is also not the point of this trope.
Can we repair shop this? I mean we are all misusing it here and the name itself is leading to the misuse.
As it is IMO really there isnt much of a trope here outside of comicbooks really.

I think the heart of the trope is "If the heroes try to fight this guy, they'll probably get killed." Sometimes that's exactly what happens (which can cause surviving characters to respond, "That guy just killed The Hero! We'd better run!"), while other times, the heroes recognize the danger and flee—at least until they can come up with a better plan for dealing with the Hero Killer.
