I am the terror that flaps in the night!

I am the continuation that retcons your poorly-written finale!

This is awesome news, the series was great apart from the finale. Can't wait for the next one!

Yeah, I don't know what went wrong, but Dangerous Currency was just... bad. The characters had no personality, the plot kept shifting too much to establish a coherent narrative...

I still think the first two were the best, personally.

Why would they want to do that?

It was mostly a case of the writer and the editor heavily disagreeing on the story's outcome, while the taking away of the license was like three minutes away.

So, Marvel taking the license away ended up being completely pointless, right? They didn't do anything with it anyway, and from what I'm hearing about Big Hero Six, they and the core Disney house are in one of those petty corporate fits of mutual sabotage.

So what we got was a mess of villains being reintroduced only to do absolutely nothing or not even have a single speaking line, the Fearsome Four being reduced to generic thugs, Quackerjack in particular having everything from his previous story being unwritten, Darkwing and Scrooge arguing over platitudal themes, and Negaduck being defeated by being told he has no friends.

I mean, I'm not expecting the Epic of Gilgamesh here, but it was pretty bad...

Well, hopefully the reboot will do much better. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of revisions they intend to make to the first four arcs, as well, though I did like them all.

I missed out on the series the first time around, but I'm definitely going to pick this up.

Today, I received my Definitively Dangerous Edition.

I wanted to make up some crafty alliteration about it, but I'm drawing a blank.

I've only skimmed a couple pages so far but I can already tell it's WAY better written than the original runs, especially volumes 3 and 4. I think I'll start reading it for real now, though.

So apparently this project was shelved for the time being.

[up] Next month?

Would you kindly elaborate on that?

Because I've heard nothing about a new Darkwing comic coming next month...

Well, how about that.

Assuming it follows the same thing of four comics to an arc, I'll probably wait until the collection comes out rather than buy each comic individually.

So apparently, they changed up DW's outfit a bit. (He's never had that tie before, has he?)

And this Joe Books owns all the comic book rights to comics based on Disney's movies and TV shows, including the recent ones like Gravity Falls and Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

Huh.

Is it weird that upon learning this, I've begun brainstorming the possibility of a Crisis Crossover between the previously mentioned 2 shows as well as with Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck?

Yeah, the Definitively Dangerous Edition's new epilogue has him adding a tie and undershirt to his outfit. Looks nice.

I wonder if the first new arc will be "Dangerous Currency done right", or if they're saving that for later.

[up] Not to diss your theory, but if they're planning on doing "Dangerous Currency" right (which I pray they do, because who doesn't love a Duck Tales X Darkwing Duck crossover?), wouldn't they have to say "hey, we're also doing a new Duck Tales ongoing" or something before they do that?

EDIT: Another thing, did DW's sleeves always have two buttons (or cufflinks) per sleeve?

If they're doing a Duck Tales crossover, they'd better do it before the DT reboot premieres in Disney XD. I mean, this should cross over with the 'classic' Duck Tales, and you know how Disney gets when they're rebooting stuff and then try to pretend the original versions never existed.

So the first issue of the new series came out a few days ago.

Anyone here get it? I'm just going to wait to get the trade paperbacks, but I'm curious as to how it is.

I thought it fit right in with the previous series, the fact that I haven't read the re-written ending to the last series aside.

Could anyone give me a run-down on what actually changed between the original comic and the new version?

Nothing particularly major outside of dropping Dangerous Currency; some clunky lines were rewritten, there's more alliteration, some plot points (Like what the heck Morgana did to defeat Duckthulhu) are better explained, and there's a new epilogue to help transition Campaign Carnage into the new series.

The epilogue doesn't really establish anything new, it just shows DD overcoming the self-doubts he had since his return and changing up his wardrobe a bit before going out to fight crime.

Oh, and Launchpad stepped down as Quackwerks CEO and chose Maury Thwackstein (The old retiree from the first arc) as the new CEO so he can go back to piloting. And Uncle Scrooge is pissed about being given the invoice for repairing the city after Launchpad's disasterous administration.

[up] So, how did she defeat Duckthulhu?

I don't have updated version but I hunted Internet for as many comparisons as possible. The change that I found most interesting (and the worst) was to Quackerjack's story in Annual: https://reviewordie.wordpress.com/2015/06/22/darkwing-duck-the-definitively-dangerous-edition-in-review/

To be honest, from what I read I haven't found updated version much better from original. There are few changes I find hardly necessary and even few things that I preferred in original version

It explains that the weird 50's family sitcom realm Morgana brings everyone to is Duckthulhu's realm of origin, and that by bringing him there he's now feeding off of his own ego instead of Darkwing's, and weakening himself instead of becoming more powerful (Which is why he was starting to disintegrate even before they lazer each other out of existence).

I like the rewrite because besides exiling Dangerous Currency from existence it also heavily rewrites Campaign Carnage, as the review discusses.

Though like the review, I am also saddened by the loss of the "chains and cowboy hats" joke. tongue

That's a...maybe....I dunno, works? I'm still not sure.

Me, besides butchering of Quackerjack story, I'm mostly upset by this. For those who don't know: This shot happens right after Launchpad becomes mayor and comments "how hard can it be". In original text was "Mcquack mayor for five minutes: the city in chaos" and on side "citizens react: how did they got another newspaper out in just five minutes?"
