Since this thread has received several Hollers, I thought I'd chime in. From the perspective of the moderators, it has remained civil thus far. While the game is clearly reprehensible, as long as we can talk about it in a manner that conforms to the rules, there's no reason to ban the topic.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"In a way the first Postal from 1997(!) did that already, which as it seems was in many regards closer to Hatred than to its own sequels.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Yeah, like I mentioned before, this game could be the Spiritual Successor to the original Postal because of that.
I'm going to agree that this looks like a damn artsy game, in a meta sense. If it didn't seem to be being developed by human trash, I might be more interested; I love the idea that it takes the ultraviolence that would be celebrated or at least tolerated if it was being done to aliens, or terrorists, or some other Acceptable Target, and transplants it to a simple, realistic setting.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenHuh. So this is a thing.
Disregarding the whole "are developers Neo-Nazis" discussion, at first I wanted to say that this is repulsive, putting it lightly, but then it got me thinking. We do have a plenty of games where we are a guy that murders civilians for fun and profit. The whole GTA comes to mind, but there's also first Prototype where A.Mercer casually absorbs tons upon tons of random Johns.(unless I'm mistaken in which case, someone please correct me).
It's of no use to try and disregard this game as it will get attention. If it becomes big enough I can see it being cited as the prime example of "how videogames are responsible for school shootings".
Suffice to say I'm gonna steer clear of this one.
How do lizards fly?I like the idea of this game. If it was handled by a better team, it might have been better pulled off. Like Spec Ops: The Line, it could have been a comment on games.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenIt's because this time, sadistic, hate-filled mass murder itself is the main plot of the game rather than just a petty diversion from the main plot like in GTA. That's what's making people (understandably) uncomfortable.........Y'know, that kind of motivates one to look at Plague Inc in a somewhat different light.

Thing is, Hotline Miami already did the whole meta angle better. While you don't murder civilians in the game, its disseminating of the entertainment value of deliberately sadistic violence worked well enough.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I cannot argue that the idea is interesting if somewhat morbid.
The design, however, just rubs me the wrong way due to reasons mentioned. It's... just too edgy and in the wrongest way possible too.
Point. So basically it's Postal without the toilet humor and bizarre cat-based weaponry?

How do lizards fly?Right. I should've mentioned the fact that the carnage and mayhem is portrayed as soberly as possible.
Metal Gear Rising still does the "you just wanna brawl" thing better than this game will ever hope to.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI."Hey guys how can we,a small developer, get attention to something?"
"Offend everyone on earth and get everyone talking about us?"
"Great!"
Edgy edgelords who are using controversy to get attention and its working. But of course, they got every right to make this game.

Ow the edge, etc.
I dunno, gameplay looks kinda fun, especially while listening to some Slayer or Morbid Angel or similar.
Y'know, I think I'd have a lot more respect for them if they were just actually honest. Like "We really just wanted to make a game where you go around killing tons of helpless people." It would still be gross, and a game I have no interest in, but it wouldn't have that extra level of bullshit pretentiousness.
I'd also like for that one guy to not be a neo-nazi. But you can't have everything.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."That's exactly what they're doing. That stripping a game of all pretense to make a murder simulator is a pretty political act apparently didn't occur to them.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I'd take anything coming out of that ridiculous Tumblr blog with a grain of salt.
They were probably aiming for that. To pretend they are sending a pseudo-intellectual, shocking "message" about the current state of society.

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane. No, what I mean is, if they didn't have the whole "Our game isn't like all those other LIAR games! It's totally edgy! Look, our protagonist hates all people and wants to kill them all! And blaetgh"
I dunno. I feel like trying to articulate why this game is so stupid is just making me even more stupid. I should stop.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."This is true. I was referring to the Neo-Nazi part.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I don't see what's so ridiculous about the Tumblr. Their sources don't seem particularly suspect- and they went back and rescinded the bits they got wrong.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."This is SO the game Terumi would play.
@Nettacki: That first trailer remix is totally canon for me now. The fake quotes in the second one were also spot on.
@Mukora: I'm still not quite sure what your objection is, that the game is pretentious for trying to not be pretentious?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? The thing is, they say they're trying not to be pretentious. But they still are.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
Still deciding on what made me laugh more: The narmy opening narration or the jackhammer-enforced sensory lobotomy via. murder montage.
