This needs to be in Image Pickin'; I'll move it.
Fixed the tag.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe current was chosen here; here's the old pic, which I still think is too busy.

The current image shows a rock as a winner. Can't be much more darkhorse than an immobile rock.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAs I said in the previous thread, rocks are traditionally not particularly fast when it comes to racing and it's not down a hill.
Check out my fanfiction!Twilight beats rainbow, rock beats twilight, yet rainbow does not beat rock. Keep the current.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Current illustrates the trope humorously. Set it in stone.
Not right away, not right awayKeep the current. The MLP one shows someone winning a race. It does nothing to indicate that they were expected to have no chance to win. As Duck said, Rocks are not noted for their speed — any rock winning a race on level ground can be safely assumed to be quite an unexpected victor. Additionally, if the note in the caption is correct, it's not even a "victory" at all — it's fifth place; so it's not only not a good illustration, it's not a good example, either.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.How many rock throwing contests have a "finish" with lanes like that?
Check out my fanfiction!current, definitely. It's a hilariously awesome illustration as nobody would expat a freaking ROCK to win a race
Could be some weird hopscotch.
As I mentioned in the earlier thread, while the image does show the rock on the finish line, there's no indication that it actually won. No podium, no award, no other contestants—for all we know, the rock might have placed last. Isn't there some shot showing the rock on a podium or something?
14 has a good point but I like 10.2.
Except it's not a Dark Horse Victory at all. It's a rival beating another rival.
The Tortoise and the Hare would be good, but it's only two rivals as opposed to a third party prevailing. The rock example is better than the MLP example for the reasons Madrugada stated, but it still doesn't show any other competitors. I say Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

The old pic has too much going on note , the current falls under Just A Face And A Caption, and 10 isn't really good for exactly what and say.
Not sure about this. If we can't find a good image, I suggest we at least pull the rock image off.

The current rocks. Keep it.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! There's a part of the Sponge Bob episode where the rock is at the finish line and a referee is waving a flag over it, which could help show both that it won and it was a race (which rocks aren't really good at).
I don't have a way to screencap it, though.
I would not only suggest to keep the rock image, but to make it impossible to remove .
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Seems like we have agreement to keep the rock to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSeems like that to me, too.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Works for me.
Tag adjusted accordingly; closing this.

The page picture appears to have been changed at some point from something that effectively demonstrates the trope to something that does not. It used to have an image from the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic episode "Fall Weather Friends", which clearly showed a third party prevailing over two competing parties. By contrast, the current picture only shows one party sitting at a finish line.
Know thyself, and know thy enemy.
