[up] O hai Vyse, RYU, and...small monster and giant monster thing from Panzer Dragoon and Monster Hunter.

On one hand: so no Ristar, Vectorman, Darkstalkers, or Devil May Cry? Bummer. sad

On the other hand: WOOOOO!!! STREET FIGHTER!!! grin When I first saw Ryu, the first thing that popped in my head was the Street Fighter theme!

I wonder if they'll make a reference to how Chun-Li and Blaze the Cat sound like each other.

I wonder if they'll reference the Street Fighter cartoon, movie, or Wily being under M. Bison's employ in the SF comics.

Well, this is awakward since I dont know most of these characters. I know almost all there is to know about Sonic and classic Mega Man (and some X) but now I'm worried I'll be lost.

No Streets of Rage versus Final Fight? Bummer.

I suppose Ash meeting Poison would have been asking for too much.

Ian confirmed in a podcast that Worlds Unite takes place after Mega Man X7 and prior to Mega Man X8.

Makes sense, since Axl is around but Sigma isn't deteriorating.

EDIT: But I am kind of sad since it means no Lumine.

Doesn't another company own the comic rights to Street Fighter? How is Archie able to get the SF cast to appear?

Apparently if not for the previous crossover Archie would have canceled the Mega Man comic due to low sales.

Solicits for the whole crossover are up. Like the first one, the last issue has Mega Man and Sonic goign super.

Ian wanted to have Mega Man X go super but Sega said no because I guess being super is a Sonic thing.

And so things begin.

Curiously, but in line with the way things ended previously, I think Robotnik remembers Wily but Wily doesn't remember Robotnik. Guessing his memories haven't fully faded and lined up with the new continuity yet.

[up] The memories of everything before Worlds Collide faded from everyone. The first crossover was before MM 10 but during Sonic's present day, so Wily wouldn't remember.

[up] Oh, I'm fully aware that Wily and those from the Mega Man side wouldn't remember. All their memories of the event were wiped clean the moment it was over.

Bad news.

With issue #55, Archie put the Mega Man comic on hiatus for undisclosed reasons.

I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising, given the comic was in danger of cancellation prior to World Collide to begin with.

[up] It also has to do with Archie's failed kickstarter and money troubles, I think.

wild mass guess Sometime following the conclusion of Worlds Unite, IDW will pick up both the Mega Man and Sonic licenses from Archie (which may or may not go out of business) and hire Ian Flynn to keep both titles series going. wild mass guess

Given their current lineup and their record with licensed property comics as it stands - including recently picking up the publishing for the print versions of Atomic Robo - IDW'd probably be the best bet to take Sonic and Mega Man off Archie's hands if Archie can't handle them anymore.

Is IDW really that good with all its adaptations? Because as a limited interest guy, I mostly know them as guys who had Ben 10 comic that lasted 4 issues.

Though apparently Adventure Time and My Little Pony are doing well enough to have truckload of specials and spinoffs.

I know their TMNT, Popeye, Star Trek, Transformers and Ghostbusters have all had quite long lifespans as well.

Nobodies perfect.

I didn't even know there was a Ben 10 comic book. And as mentioned, they have plenty of licensed properties that have been particularly well received. I see no reason why they couldn't continue the trend with Mega Man and Sonic. Especially if they were able to bring Ian Flynn along. Doubly so if they were able to pick up where Archie left off and made it so that as far as the readers were concerned the only change was the publisher label switching over from 'Archie' to 'IDW'.
