The top left corner of Chapter 35 Page 1 summarises this series perfectly.

I think the series has made bait and switch tonal shifts into an art. Every single one of them is genuinely intense enough that you'll expect something serious, but it never comes. And I always fall for it.

Just a thought: With all the Generation Xerox going between Shiragami's parents and her generation (especially with Karen being revealed as previous generation's Aizawa), I wonder if the Charismatic Pervert was also in the same school as them to fulfill Shiho's role. Or if Touko also have an Unlucky Childhood Friend as the Mikan.

I guess at this point that would be expected… which is why I would prefer the author to put a little twist in that.

Chapter 95 confirms Touko as the scariest character in the series bar none. (°口°)

Another thought: The "secret" thing seems to have a whole meta element to it, as most characters are first hinted to be something else when they were introduced.

• Shirou was introduced as a werewolf, but it turned out he is the "wolf" while Shiho is the "human". Granted, this series has one of the stranger Our Werewolves Are Different.
• Ryou was introduced as a ghost, but turned out to be an alien.
• Rin was hinted to be a dragon/chuunibyou, but is a time traveller.
• Karen pretended to be a demon, but actually an angel.
• The new girl Yumi from Chapter 92 was a new vampire girl, but is actually Shiragami's dad in disguise.

Uh, sorry, should've stated clearer where the spoiler is from. Well, to elaborate, in chapter 92, a new girl Ryouenzaka Yumi is introduced as an assistant teacher or something. At the end of the chapter, Asahi found out that she's a vampire, in exactly the same way as he found out Youko's secret in chapter 1. In chapter 93, after some kerfuffle with Karen and Shirou (don't inderstand what they said), Yumi revealed her real form...as Shiragami Genjirou.

Wait until the scans catch up.

Aren't there already some hints of this in the chapters already done though? Like the end of chap 55… Now she would be a strange example as she's more the Tranquil Fury type.

OMG Yess!! When will it air, though? And I wonder how much it will cover. If it's only 1-cour, I think the camping arc will be a nice stop.

And another news, Chapter 96 RAW is out, focusing on Aizawa. Doesn't really understand what happened, though.

Basically Aizawa desperately tries to tell Asahi and Youko that she has given up on him for good, but her behaviour and reactions say the opposite. So when she does manage to tell them, Youko is all "I won't lose!!" and Asahi is like "Err, yeah, of course you've given up on me, I can see that…"

As for the anime, I guess Autumn would be a safe bet? Or maybe Summer if production has already started… Wonder how far it will go though… if it's 25 episodes it might manage to go as far as Asahi's confession, but some cuts would be needed. :|

Also, even if it's only 1-cour, I hope they get S2 sometime later. I really want Chapter 49 animated. That's the one chapter that solidifies Akane as my favorite character.

Speaking of Akane (and of said chapter 49 notably), do you think Jerk with a Heart of Gold would apply to her? I mean, she's a magnificent troll, but she does have some moments where she's attentionate... in her own way. A Jerk with a heart of... bronze or something.
