Guy might not have quite succeeded, but he definitely grew as a person, which is a step in the right direction.
Reaction Image RepositoryOh just you wait for the next chapter then.
Wait...What?Missed last week's chapter, reading both now.
Meh. I'd have been fine with Okada and Mei. Or rather, I don't think he needs to end up with Mikan. I really don't like that anime 'Unrequited love lasts forever, never give up on your love' thing. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal, more than one person is capable of making you happy. So this plotline falls pretty flat for me.
I suppose I can appreciate that he at least tried, but at this point I might actually be rooting for him to fail.

I think the point is less not giving up and more just him being honest about his feelings. The thing with Mei didn't work out because he didn't really like her that way. It's less "if you like somebody you should never ever give up on pursuing them" and more "if you like someone, at least be honest about it and don't pretend that you've moved on when you actually haven't". The unrequited love may or may not last forever, but as long as its still there, he needs to be honest about it rather than trying to put up a pretense of having moved on when he actually hasn't. That sort of infatuation isn't something you can choose to just turn off when it looks like it won't work out.
Whether or not it will work could go either way, but at least it's all out in the open.

Reaction Image RepositorySure, I can see that too. In this situation, the thing with Mei was not going to work anyway and he hadn't dealt with his feelings for Mikan at all. However, to me it just represents another piece of a larger pattern. Just once, I'd really like to see someone's love fail and then they just give up and move on without pining forever for person they confessed to or whatever. I can't really see this whole plot thread being resolved like that, though if it is I'll be pleasantly surprised.
And now I feel like a grumpy cop going 'I'm getting too old for this shit.'
Pretty much… Well, chapter 150 will continue the debate, especially the last few pages. Jitsu wa's characters represent all sides of the issue, really.
−Asahi has gone from a shallow and quickly shot-down romance to finding someone he actually fell in love with.
−Aizawa desperately tries to move on, but her first love means too much to her for that to be easy, especially considering her character (Mikan didn't call her "the Runaway Train" for nothing).
−Shiho easily moved on once she let the weight off of her chest.
−Yuka is… err, well, Yuka?
−Okada, as said above, pretended to "move on" without actually coming to terms with his feelings, which didn't solve anything.
−And quite interestingly, the chapter indicates that Mikan is slowly starting to move on from her crush on Asahi, or at least come to grips with the idea of a life without him, even if she doesn't like it.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Pretty much, yeah. It really covers most of the possible permutations of the situation. Which is really what makes this series so interesting.
Reaction Image RepositorySo, speaking of Mikan, she mentioned "Saku-nee" in this chapter. Now, which Sakura is she referring to?
I sure hope it's Mebuki. She (along with SD!Oka) is the one who would blend in the best in Jitsu wa's universe, being a troll and all.
Hopefully we find out before the series ends. =[
Raw 186… It ends on an ambiguous line, but it seems implied that Shirayuki used to be human. Now that would be interesting.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Chapter 150: The day someone sunk lower than Shima.
I see your old redrawer managed to kick RL back. So you guys are back as big-happy family again?

Wait...What?Wow, you know you've gone too far when even Shima is disgusted.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"He's still no worse than Shima. At least, he's creepy towards one girl only.
Yup. I hope that will last.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. So now Oka is 100% honest about his feelings even about things that even Asahi wouldn't say aloud?
The end is kinda sad, though, when you think of it... Mikan is basically implying that she's stuck in a loveless marriage with the "certain someone". Or else she's impliying that she's not really serious about going after Asahi anymore.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Shima improveds this chapter by tenfold despite appearing in only two panels.
I got the implication she's just acting extra tsundere. Or they're just in long-term neglect play .
The raw of chap 187 was posted on 4chan. It's not a funny chapter, but it sure is an awesome one. Those last two pages… Damn.◊
I don't know if the next chapter will be the last (the end just says "to be continued next week"), but I can feel that Masuda's next series is gonna be a good ol' shonen.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. If it is, I hope it spoofs the genre as much as this series has taken on romcoms.
Also, this chapter was pretty good. It had heart, but also a good infusion of humor. Which was needed after all the drama of the past few chapters. I get the feeling that Mei is rethinking her feelings for Oka after that though.

Reaction Image RepositoryRaw 187: Was expecting tragedy, got good ol' Shounen instead. Never would've thought I'll be seeing a badass Youko.
What does she (Youko) says at the last 6 pages?
edited 5th Dec '16 7:19:24 PM by styryder
Wait...What?Youko says: "That's a bummer... Say, Asahi-kun. What would you do in a situation where only you can do something? [...] I guess you'd think that you shouldn't, but you'd still run to the rescue. That's what made me fall for ya, after all. So... *bite* [...] Y'know, I have a dream. I want to become like you, my hero. I always hated myself for being different. I wondered why I couldn't be born a human. But after meeting ya... I came to like even that side of me. Thank you. I love you, Asahi-kun. And I'm happy that I was born a vampire!! Everyone, I'm sorry to have hidden it from ya. The truth is, I, Shiragami Youko... am a vampire!!
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Nice Ironic Echo there, Youko. Hmm, so now it's kinda unclear how this arc will end. Either she will still leave as future foretold or the entire classmate accept her. Regardless, I don't think this arc will end well for Asahi. I mean, even if the classmate is all cool, there's still the matter about Youko's pregnancy.
Wait...What?Chapter 151: Jitsu wa x Uzumaki cross-over right there. Akari once again proves herself as the owner of the most nightmarish face.
Wait...What?That was a great breather chapter after all of the (relative) drama of the past few chapters. Classic Jitsu Wa silliness. And also utter terror once Akari shows up.
Reaction Image RepositoryAlso, Youko's stomach is confirmed to have a will of its own.
edit: Chapter 188 is out. And it's… not the last chapter. Phew. Good god Asahi, that's just reckless. Also, that line 70 chapters ago about Mikan's choice being crucial to change the future, comes back. I wonder what it's gonna be.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Raw 188: Mfw the anime actually predicted this development.
So Youko have some banter regarding the acceptance of Monsters among humans with Shirayuki until Genjirou interrupted, causing Sen and Asahi to go ballistic. What does the classmates chatter about regarding Youko's reveal?
Wait...What?
Chapter 149 is up. "You can't spell 'sympathetic' without 'pathetic'", they say.
