Edit: One interesting detail; on page 20 (Youko contemplating whether to call Asahi) you can see specks of sun-burn around the spot where Akane deflected the sun-rays on Youko's cheek.

Well, that was an emotional roller coaster going from d-oh to d-aww at light speed.

And this, folks, is why Akari's classes are so quiet.

Legends shall be told about the Mighty Kewl Bewtee Teacher who could read upside down.

On the raw front, chapter 152 is mostly told from Youko's point of view, unusually… It's basically a reversal of 114. Youko wants to suck Asahi's blood. Hard. To the point of getting jealous of a mosquito. And giving him "subtle signals" that she wants the B.

I think Masuda has found the ultimate way of Getting Crap Past the Radar. This is genius.

Friday is the best day.

Jitsu wa's raws are so fun to read. It was mentioned before, but a lot of the humor and story can still be inferred from the art alone. Having it in english just makes it even funnier.

@117: Aww.

Really digging Mei's schtick as the straightest of the noodles. It's fun seeing Asahi getting out straight-manned, we get to see a bit more color and dimness from him.

@152: Was Akane messing around when she said blood sucking is basically sex? If she wasn't, then Masuda must be having fun just testing his editors.

And just because; anime season 2 come on now let's do this. That blu-ray record low deserves to be smashed.

The cast is mostly idols and AKB 48 retirees. :x Yeesh. Err, well, if it's a musical I guess it makes sense to hire singers. Some do look their part though (especially Rin and Shiho). Some definitely don't (Akari =__=). And did they actually hire an actress to play the Charismatic Pervert?

Man there is a stage play for everything that achieves success, isn't there? I'm only getting this from the amount of announcements on ANN, but there's almost an oversaturation of the damn things. Some even get multiple plays. One Piece apparently got a kabuki adaptation, which is just really weird to think about.

This would actually be a riot to watch, if any of us could. I'm curious about all sorts of wonderful things, like which story structure will they follow (mango, or anmimile), if the songs are any good, or how deep the pockets are for the production.

I'm curious too, yeah... I'm not sure Jitsu wa's will be a musical though. I guess Karen would have a song with plenty of Ominous Pipe Organ.

As for why there are so many, well… it costs nothing to produce compared to an anime or a film, so I guess it's an easy way to make a small profit.

As for the "announcement" in chapter 153… I wonder if it's not gonna be the start of the final arc. Seems like a good time to enter the last straight line.

Otherwise, a chapter with action! We meet Akane's husband, finally. So apparently, not only did Akane not age in 1000 years, she actually got younger. And she has some sort of rival named "Shirayuki"? Who is not the box girl, it seems. And I don't get the rest.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to buy some Brain Bleach.

Well, that was all build up and no pay off. I was looking forward to some kind of announcement, but it's just the play.

So that black-haired girl was apparently the former principal of the school, and thought it impossible for a human and a non-human to live together − and that Akane should have known that better than anyone. One of Akane's goal is apparently to prove her wrong, notably using Asahi to that end. Then a wild box girl appears, and Akane thinks she's the former principal, with dramatic shot, death flag and all… except she's not. >.> Woops.

I so love it when this series plays with Shonen tropes. X)

So, we still haven't got any idea who box girl is, huh? And did it say what happened to Akane's husband?

So young(?) Akane has the same personality as Akari huh?

Chapter 118: Fap of Japan!

The perverts come out at night. What are they zombies.

And in the grand tradition of Jitsu wa mixing the hilarious with the sad, the scene where Mikan sees the empty plot of land where her home used to be was pretty powerful.

The sluts might as well be zombies. Actually, the future has lots of parallels to a zombie apocalypse.

And wow, Yuka's anti-pervert technique might be the stupidest thing to come out of the pervert subplot. But think about it. She uses steam for her technique. Now, isn't there some other characters who can control steam as well? ;)

It really is… I feel Masuda is more at ease with quiet and subdued drama like this scene or Toumei Ningen, than with big, long-winded drama like in Sakura Discord (which sometimes felt a bit too much like "Jitsu wa if it took itself seriously"). I haven't seen many authors who use shadowing as effectively as Masuda and his team in Jitsu wa.

I still wonder how the Pervert Society even works though. We have yet to see a single man in that future…

edit: 154 out! I would have lost a few more of my sides if I had any remaining by now. Mei is melancholy. Her friends do all they can to ease her pain and cheer her up. Oka reveals the truth to Asahi. Heartwarming scenes ensue. Mei thanks everyone for their efforts and decides to face her pain head on instead of running away. She then confidently walks in the dental clinic to treat her toothache. Mikan knew it all along. Oka wants to die.

So the chapter is simultaneously side-splittingly hilarious and genuinely heartwarming depending on which point of view you read it from. Damn, this author is good.
