The coloring is probably it. It's pretty damn flat.

I honestly think it looks a bit better than what we've seen before. What we've seen before is a pretty low bar, though, and it still doesn't have the energy the manga's art has.

The biggest worry, personally, is that people will be turned off by "another generic harem anime". Jitsu Wa downplays that, and ups the screwball to the max, but plenty of anime-goers are burnt out by the High-school romance thing.

I think it's a mix of all those things - flat coloring, too simple shading, and halfway-there expressions. The body language doesn't seem that well either.

Asahi looks like he's scared shitless.

Chapter 111 is out. It's more or less what I thought.

So Asahi and Youko want to become teachers at their school to protect the secrets of supernatural beings. That also was Genjirou's dream… also, Yuka is worried that everyone knows she's a Ninja. The shuriken is the key to her apartment, like Rin's sword.

And then Saki asks Asahi if she should stay alone to protect her secret, but he tells her it's better to have a friend in whom she can confide… nice call back to the beginning. =3

I like how the chapter starts hilarious (my god those outfits…) and ends heartwarming. Also, is it me or Youko looks… cuter lately?

Oh, and I don't know whether it means anything but Asahi's sister is included in the image where Akane says "everyone has a secret"…

PS: I wonder, can I add the post-100 characters to the character sheet (under *spoiler* thumbs)? I have a feeling it will take forever for our scanlations to even get to that part…

Is the scanlation project for this still alive? I feel like it's been some time since we got a new chapter.

Chapter 79 is progressing awfully slowly, I don't know why. The translations are a bazillion chapters ahead (we are two people on it), but for the rest, the cleaner, typesetter and proof-reader aren't always available. At least it seems very unlikely that we'll have several chapters per week like before. =[

How does typesetting even work? Isn't it copy paste the new text over the speech bubbles?

Sometimes text isn't in speech bubbles.Jitsu Wa uses that a lot.So it makes things harder to typeset.

What makes Jitsu wa hard is that there are many different fonts, the characters are often screaming, you often have to put special effets on the text, and indeed out-of-bubble lines can be a pain − not so much to typeset, but because you have to erase the Japanese text and redraw over it.

That does sound like a pain.

The project manager for Jw Ww posts on /a/ sometimes. He said the redraws is the most hellish and time-consuming part. He also said that he's trying to get more redrawers so chapters can come out faster.

By the way, there's 110 chapters translated in Chinese. I'm not sure what am I going to say at that point.

The anime's website added a character page. Okada and Shimada look fine, Sakurada and Shirou look… err… well, they're not exactly hunks in the manga, but they still look off.

Chap 79 shouldn't too long to come! It's typesetted already.

One of the staff posted a preview on /a/ one or two days ago. I expect it to be released soon. Also, apparently they managed to get two cleaners/redrawers for Jitsu, so the next chapters hopefully can come faster.

Dunno about that. Actually I think Shirou looks the closest to manga there.

Looking at those profiles I remembered a question I had when I started reading this manga, namely why is one of Asahi friends a middle aged yakuza member?

I dunno...

Something about the face profiles bugs me... I think it's the chin...

Sakura needs his own arc, clearly. =[ Chap 98 only expanded the mystery about him…
