[up] Yeah, I'm kinda sorta holding onto the hope that they'll announce a resurrection to the project with Gennedy and everything, albeit at a much later time and they're only saying it's dead just so they can surprise us later.

...

I have the right to hope, alright?

EDIT: In any case, maybe Gennedy can do that trick Craig McCracken used on Disney execs to let him do Wander over Yonder, or some variation of it.

Then again, of course there'll be another Popeye movie at some point, because every American property under the sun short of Paw-Paw Bears will be remade at some point or another.

But that won't be the movie we've been discussing here.

For reference to on what I'm talking about, skip to 0:55-1:28 of this video:

So yeah we've exaggerated this a bit. But Genndy no longer being on it still makes me sad and could've been the deal breaker for whether or not it would succeed.

I'm sure he did like 70% of the movie so far.

At least it's not dead. Hopefully the film is still good nonetheless.

So, Genndy is working on Hotel Transylvania 2 at Sony Animation, where the first one was made...

Looking at Sony's website, David Feiss and Lauren Faust are working there as well. Ain't that somethin', huh?

HT 2's teaser was released last week. If anything, Genndy is wrapping up production on that, and is going full-time on Can You Imagine now.

Things are looking up at Sony.

Not only does Genndy Tartakovsky get to make his own original project, but David Feiss and Lauren Faust are working on their own original projects as well...

I wouldn't call Medusa original.

But it's still based on Greek mythology.

Nothing is original, not since the Stone Age.

Frankly, I'd like to see David Feiss's original project - all the Sony site says is that he is working on one.

Whatever it is, it probably won't be predictable.

Unless it's a totally original story that happens to star Medusa, then Medusa would be an adaptation, yes.

There's a basic difference between saying that all or most plots are derivative in general, and whether or not something is an straight-up adaptation of a preexisting story. I'm guessing that's what Kyun meant.
