@Stephan_Reiken: That's OK, you may add it to your character profile whenever you please.

Also, I've added a point to the Puella Magi template, as it was something that I forgot to include, but's also relevant: Soul Gem information.

It's a rather straightforward point:

You should describe the characteristics of your character's Soul Gem in the appropriate section, including its color and appearance, both in her Puella Magi form and her normal state.

...But you have to include it because it's also important to note. Be sure to check the profile template to know where to include it.

In other news, I've also posted the profile of one of the "NPC" Puella Magi that you'll meet... I'll add another one soon enough, as well as the info of a certain Candidate that will appear on the first episode... But, that's not the most important thing I wanted to say.

What is really important is that I'd like to start the story as soon as possible. Right now, the only things I have left to do is choosing a name for [THE CITY], and approving Sabre's character profile.

One should be straightforward enough, but the other depends entirely on our comrade, as the profile still isn't apt for approval at this moment in time.

Hmm, city names

  • Pandora
  • Pace
  • Quiton
  • Zephyr
  • Audubon
  • Laclede

Throwing some randomly generated ones from a generator I found with Google. Take your pick :P

Also isn't there three appearances? Normal Form, Transform-ready form or rather Egg Form, and Fully Transformed Form. Although the Egg form seems to share the fact that it is an egg with all Puella Magi, varying on color and decoration.

@stephanreiken: Yeah, that's why I didn't include the Egg Form, as it seems to be pretty much the same for everyone, except for its unique color.

OK, seeing how most of you seem to be ready to start, I'll try to publish the start of the first "episode" tomorrow.

Also, I've decided to go with St. Arthelais as the name for [THE CITY]. It's the name of a patron saint for the exiled and ill, and one who died at a relatively early age, (16 years) so it seems appropriate enough for my purposes. I'll update it in the guidebook shortly enough.

Also, I'd like to reiterate: Entries won't be closed even after the story starts, so don't worry too much about it.

My sincere apologies for the delay, but I want to inform you that the Story Thread is finally up and running.

To be frank, I'm kinda disappointed with the first post of it... I'm rather rusted right now... HOWEVER, I didn't want to make it more complex or saturated with unknown characters right now, because I want to focus on the personal stories of the main characters.

A lot of things are happening at St. Arthelais right now, but it will be more satisfying for the character themselves to discover them on their own as the story progresses, instead of me spoon-feeding exposition and talking about characters that have no immediate relevance to the other characters' stories at the moment.

So, yeah...

Sorry for the double post folks, but I've got something small, but rather important to say:

@Bassetete: There's a minor correction you should make to your post, because at this moment in time, neither Mariya nor Julia know about Hilde.

So far, they've been working on their own up to this point, and Julia hasn't had much luck locating other Puella Magi... However, the recent increase in Witch related activity has also increased the presence/"notability" of their hunters, so that's why it will be easier to contact them from this point onwards.

Other than that, everything is rather good... In fact, I'm happy with all the posts everyone have written so far. smile Keep it going!

Edit: By the moment, I won't "interfere" with Mariya and Julia's current interactions, so feel free to continue without having to wait for my reply... However, I can tell you right now that, despite having a concrete plan at the moment, they WILL have to adjust it depending on what they stumble upon on their way to Hei Ryung's home. (that's the part where I'll "take the reins" once again)

I'm working on a post, but in the meantime just assume that their suspicions about Hei Ryung are based on watching her make something dance when she thought no one was looking. She's pretty bad about that kind of thing.

Vphantom, if I may make a suggestion, it seems like you're taking some liberties in describing how the player characters are acting or thinking. I mean, that's our job, not yours. tongue

Hmmmmmm... By the way, now that Uncandescent mentioned it...

@Atomic_Nut: Are you OK with the idea of Julia having hired a Private Detective to help her track potential Puella Magi?

It makes sense, as it would be convenient for her to have a second party scouting for her so she doesn't attract too much attention from the authorities.

I imagine she didn't really told this person exactly what was going on, but she would ask them to look for certain peculiarities that would indicate the presence of a Puella Magi, like "miracles" or other sudden favorable changes of the life of young girls.

In other news, I'd like to extend an open invitation for all of you. The premise is:

Design You Own Witch!

I've got a decent backlog of ideas for Witches... However, since this is a setting where Witches are almost pouring out of the walls, it might come a point where I might run out of ideas.

So, that's why I want to encourage you to submit your own ideas for potential enemies and other horrors. I might include a template later on... But by the moment, I'd like for you to think of something you might like to see... Or, even better, something you DON'T want to see at all!

Edit:

Vphantom, if I may make a suggestion, it seems like you're taking some liberties in describing how the player characters are acting or thinking. I mean, that's our job, not yours.

Yeah, you're right pal... My Control Freak tendencies sometimes get me carried away a little bit... I'll try to minimize them, so they don't get too annoying/obstructing. Thanks for the observation!

It could work, although I was more in the lines of former army buddies in several places, like actual cops.

@Atomic_Nut: Hmmmmmm... My issue with that option stems from the fact that, given how “Control Freaky” the authorities of St. Arthelais actually are, it would be rather troublesome for Julia and the Puella Magi if they found out about the whole Witches' business and stuff, which is why I thought an investigator non-affiliated to them might be a better option if they intended to keep a low profile.

...HOWEVER, on a second thought, I also believe we should go with the option that makes more sense from Julia's perspective, not mine. Seeing things that way, it makes sense for her to want to work with someone she genuinely trusts, a person that has helped her to get out of troubles in the past already, instead of trying to gamble with someone that she barely knows. (despite what reputation said person might have)

So yeah, I think we'll go with your idea, with one condition though: It should only be one person doing the detective work, not many of them on several places, because lots of people working on the same "clandestine"/"extra-official" operation could attract a lot of unwanted attention.

Do you have a concept for this character, or should I think of someone appropriate for the job? Or maybe an intermediate point? (like, you have some ideas you'd like for me to implement while filling up the blank spaces necessary to craft a “complete” character)

Are you sure pal? Because on this particular case, I'd like to do what Julia herself would consider the best, as I can visualize how it could work with either option.

...Anyway, you didn't mention if you already had a character concept... However, I already have two options myself: One if the detective happens to be a freelancer, and the other if it turns to be a police department agent. Both are rather different, but either of them would make for an interesting side-character.

No need to take a decision immediately, because we won't deal directly with either of this characters until the next episode... But still, I like creating characters, as that's definitely my forte and the part I enjoy the most when it comes to writing.

I've been playing around with this for a little while, and I can't figure out a way to make a post that doesn't a) end with Hei Ryung still alone in her home or b)Hei Ryung doing something or going somewhere that you'll have to tell me to correct anyway. Can I have some options or something for places to go? I don't necessarily want to fight a witch, I just want something I can bounce her off of. Either that, or I could just wait for Mariya and Julia to show up on her front door.

I apologize for the delay on the story thread, but I've been dealing with some real-life-related-businesses... Which, as you know, should always take priority, otherwise things start getting messy and stuff...

Anyway, I'll write something pretty soon, so don't worry about it. As long as there's even one single person still writing besides me, I'm not going to abandon this story.

@Uncandescent: To be frank, I don't have any idea of what to do regarding that... I left Hei Ryung's options intentionally ambiguous and unrestricted, because I wanted to see what you could come up with.

For that matter, even her wasting some time doing "nothing" at home, and delving on her own thoughts is actually a valid option, and it would actually be rather interesting to me. Remember that I'm really interested in knowing more about each of your characters, and even those introspective and quiet moments are really valuable to me... Sometimes, even more than the actual fights; a character that has no purpose besides killing enemies is of no use to me.

By the moment, I will say that I wouldn't wait for Julia and Mariya, because they might find something on their way that might force them to change their plans... And, that if you really wish for Hei Ryung to fight something, I could help with that too... I've got a decent backlog of Witches and Familiars, after all.

I will get around to making a post sometime today. Promise.

I have to ask you to bear with me if I'm a bit slow, I'm in several other R Ps and school work has to take priority over everything.

Thankfully it looks like I'm not having class today.

@Azure: No problem, pal. As a matter of fact, everyone around here seems to be rather slow, including myself... Heck! For all intends and purposes, I think I might be the slowest of the bunch, so I don't have the right to complain.

But, as I've already stated, I'm not going anywhere... And as long as there's even a single writer besides me, I'll keep moving forward. The last thing I want to do is to emulate my previous colleagues and just rage-quit without any concern for those that were enjoying writing for the story...

Dat GM life, yes.

Just a quick note about how I intend to stylize my writing in this RP. To emphasize how doll-esque and deceptively distant Mariya is I intend to keep a limited point of view and rarely get into her thoughts. It might make my posts rather void of emotion/cut-and-dry at times but I'll try to balance it out to the best of my limited writing ability.

@Sabre's_Edge: You see what happens, Larry?! You see what happens?! You see what happens when you don't give me names to work with?! YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY?!

OK... Talking seriously: There you go, pal! I'll change the placeholders once you give me the names you'd like to use for Amity's highschool and team.

Also, I feel slightly happier right now, because this is more my speed: I'm definitely a character-focused-kind-of-guy, so I always work better when writing that kind of stuff.

By the way, these three girls, I've only just created them a pair of days ago... And yet, I already have lots of things about them (backstory, personality, appearance, miscellaneous quirks, family, dreams, hopes, fears, etc.) in case I decide to use them more extensively.

As I've said, maybe one of them, or two of them, or all of them, or none of them is a Puella Magi... I'm not gonna tell you, because that's not fun; it will be better for you to discover it as the story moves along.

@Bassetete: Do what you deem appropriate, pal... As long as it's compelling and interesting, I'm not going to kill anyone...

School/Team names...hmmm. Possibilities. Format: school name, team name.

Grumman HS, Wildcats.
Vought HS, Crusaders.
Heinemann HS, Skyhawks.
Reuben James HS, Battleaxes (and I'll be pretty surprised if anyone gets that reference).

I'd come up with more possibilities but it's a bit late for me to really page through more of the list.
