Da Vinci will presumably be the bridge between the two Assassins, Ezio and the new Spanish one.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I fuckin love Michael Fassbender and Robert Downey Jr so I'll see it.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsI wish it came out two months earlier...
"When you keep serving lollipops, you get licked." - Chris MarloweAlready sounds better than most video game movies.
Looking for some stories?I thought this was going to be a film version of the first game. Glad to see it's not.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Assassin's Creed doesn't really have a story that can be easily adapted to film. Sure they could follow one of the characters in the past and chop off the long, convuluted story of the present, but that would be missing half the story. The half that sucks.
Hmm, maybe this isn't such a bad thing after all.
The fact that they're using an original story can probably allow them to fix some of those problems.
Looking for some stories?Yeah I can't say any of the Assassin's Creed games are adaptable on their own because of that, and directly adapting something like the Ezio trilogy would mean in either way losing a lot of great content that made the original great such as the historical details and whatnot (which a movie wouldn't have time to show).
I also think it's a good idea to avoid adapting the game because doing so would lead to Broken Base regarding if the inevitable adaptation changes were for the best or ruined the franchise forever more, while now they have the freedom to do what they want, and it also allows them to explore periods the game creators have said they won't explore (such as: Japan, Ancient Egypt, World War Two)
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Oh wait, is it gonna be one of the guys Abstergo abducted before they abducted whatshisface in AC?
Doubt it
(V)(;,,;)(V)(There are two open threads for this film btw but this is the most up-to-date one)
Marion Cotillard was just cast in some unspecified role, of all people. The current (but probably somewhat tentative) release date is December 21, 2016.

He looks good.
(V)(;,,;)(V)I hope the Templars kill him.
so they are ignoring the entire AC connunity for their own but using similar elements the series is known for. well its made by Ubisoft Motion Pictures, so they out of all people would know what to do. they have to refresh the entire AC story all over again. it makes sense based on how confusing the games are. however i dont know why people wont stick with the simplier and more impactful stuff like Last of Us

Um, what???
The hell are you on about?
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI don't understand the complaint about doing a Last of Us movie because that isn't a Ubisoft property, its a Naughty Dog one. Also, there IS a Last of Us movie in the works but we've got nothing significant about it except that Maisie Williams had caught their eyes for Ellie. And that was a rumor at best.
Second, they ARE keeping to the Game's continuity, as far as we're aware, but doing a story that stands on its own from main games (similar to how Black Flag isn't really connected to AC 3 and Unity is also completely separate). As much as I would love to see Ezio ham it up, I'm glad they're stearing clear of a direct adaptation because that's more likely to get adaptation issues. By keeping it to its own story in the universe, they can get far more creative and interesting with their film.
As far as we're aware, Fasbender's character is named Callum Lynch. Callum will be experiencing the memories of a Spanish Assassin in 15th Century Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. I believe we've heard that the major bad guy will be the leader of the Inquisition, but I'm not sure. We don't have any further plot details besides that.
huh? o_O
I can't clarify if you don't tell me what I need to clarify on.
The film is taking place along side Assassin's Creed 2. Di Vinci is showing up, or at least that was the last I heard with Robert Downey Jr playing him.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Robert Downey Jr??? That's... likely to be significantly different from the Leo we met in 2 and Brotherhood.
I think its better we don't see Ezio. Maybe mention him but I'd rather him not be a major character. I feel everyone would end up comparing 'Oh my god! Ezio's such a better character than the protagonist assassin. They should have just made it about Ezio'. Keeping him away from the action might be simply a better option.
Also, as a predictable but interesting trivia, the protagonist's modern-day first name ("Callum") means "dove" in Gaelic, and his 15th-century surname ("Aguilar") means "Eagle's lair" in Spanish, continuing the proud tradition of Assassins having Theme Naming with birds.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I always thought that an Assassin's Creed plot set in Germany could have its protagonist surnamed Falke ("falcon").
Robert Downey Jr. is cast in Assassin's Creed as Leonardo Da Vinci.

This is NOT Assassin's Creed 2 with Ezio just to note. It's suppose to be a new story time featuring a Spanish assassin, which Micheal Fassbender plays.
