For multi-media works hosted on the same page (I'm mainly thinking of anime/manga with a single page), I think it would be nice to have a differently colored spoiler for spoilers coming from a specific medium. For example, in ongoing anime/manga, there's simply no way for a user to know if the content behind a spoiler comes from the anime or manga, and the context is occasionally not enough. I've personally been spoiled because of this, and I'm mostly unable to view spoilers in ongoing series thanks to it.

It could also be used in other contexts, such as a movie series based on a series of books, but in my experience these usually have separate pages.

Could something like this be done? I love reading works' pages, so it's a bummer when I can't read a large portion of said page due to spoilers.

Any word on this? Do other tropers like the idea? Is the staff interested in implementing it?

Any response would be appreciated.

My knee-jerk reaction is that it sounds like a lot of work for Eddie to code and, depending on implementation, for the tropers to figure out how to use, for a fairly specific, though common, situation. Anime/manga are pretty much the only case where having a single page for the original work and its adaptation is tolerated, due to how closely the anime tends to stick to the manga, and the added complication of localizing and translating both media for the West adds another wrinkle to how the spoiler policy applies.

Pretty sure the staff doesn't like spoilers, and the odds that a second type of spoiler code will be added are close to zero.

Is there a way to address this with existing tools?

in ongoing anime/manga, there's simply no way for a user to know if the content behind a spoiler comes from the anime or manga, and the context is occasionally not enough.

That doesn't need special spoilers; the context should make it clear if there's enough of a difference between the anime and the manga that something could be a spoiler for one but not the other.

  • In the manga, [[spoiler: This happens and than that happens]]
    is all it would take.

  • [[spoiler: That happens and then some other thing happens.]]
would mean it happens in both.

Madrugada's suggestion would work if it were applied consistently, though it isn't currently.

Perhaps this would be better discussed in Wiki Talk, then?

Not sure what the need is for the proposal, when taking into consideration that TVT has all of one coder, Fast Eddie, and since there is a way to achieve the same general purpose without extra coding (Maddy's post) it's not like the proposed new code would be addressing an issue that doesn't have any other way of being resolved.
