For some odd reason, the page has two images, the "first" one being added the second of this month.

I suspect the Thimble Theatre comic's the entire strip, so I support just keeping the second pic, perhaps flipped so that we could tell the woman said that before the person Face Faulted (not to mention more witty, in my opinion).

The first one is lots of panels for very little payoff. Support keeping just the second one, preferably flipped.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

The single panel one is better.

Definitely lose the strip. Also, I wouldn't worry with flipping the Negima pic, since there's only one speech balloon I don't think the R->L reading hurts it.

I'm going to argue for either keeping both of them or splitting the trope into "face down, flailing" and "backwards flip". The trope has two very different ways of being shown, one is predominant in Western works (backwards out of frame) and one seems to be predominant in Eastern works (facefirst, limbs in a tangle.)

I'd prefer to see the trope split, personally. The name Face Fault is misleading because it doesn't sound like it includes the backwards version

[up]I really don't see any need for a trope split, if the only difference between the two is the "faulting style" of the characters.

The second image alone is fine.

A "Face Fault" collapse can go in varied directions. [1] The severity of it really depends a lot on the artist though, there are various grades and types of it.

There is a slide into frame Face Fault that Love Hina and Negima used quite a bit, exaggerated to the extreme to where they knock over tables and have drinks spill on them, heck one Filler DBZ episode had an entire stadium Ao E Face Fault and they all fell in various directions including over railings.

I would go so far as to say hitting the ground isn't even required, that DBZ example I brought up had a guy sitting down already just be in a strange almost sideways position. Ease of recovery to yell or a shot of them looking annoyed while someone attempts to explain or say 'Is something wrong' though usually is.

I disagree with hard-splitting this between the two varieties; soft-splitting between them would be a better route.

They're visually different, but they still have the same story significance. And considering there aren't just two specific types, but a wide range, splitting them doesn't make sense to me.

So, are we in consensus for removing the first image?

The clock is up and the consensus that's here is to limit the page to the Negima pic, so the other is removed and the page is tagged accordingly. Locking up.

The image removed:

The first example: a "flip-take", as mostly associated with Newspaper Comics, such as this one from "Thimble Theatre".
