Yeah, we're not getting rid of all of it, we're just trying to curb all the poorly written content.
So what other rules should we add to this page? They should outline how we're going to clean it up.
I don't see anything missing.
I would suggest that we start with the name changes, so that we all know that we're talking about/linking to the same pages, and can methodically work our way through the content easier.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Oh yes, we should change the titles. Should we start at "A" like I suggested, or "C" like Madrugada suggested? Or perhaps we can name the Cellblocks by number instead of letter. Cellblock 1, 2, 3, etc. I think that numbering them would allow for more possibilities if necessary.

I just moved the second TV tropes Cellblock A (this one: Main.Additional Evil Overlord List Cellblock A ) to Just for Fun Cellblock E and cleared the wicks and did a redirect and fixed the indexes. So...

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Actually....
Since we're taking on a fairly big overhaul, I wonder if further sorting might not be in order. Specifically, sorting the TV Tropes Cellblocks into general topics. Like TV Tropes Cellblock A would include, say, Employment Practices (The rules that apply to minions, guards, mooks, assistants, and underlings in general), while B would cover Appearance rules, and C would be Tactics and Strategies. Or something like that. Doing so would be pretty huge, but could go a long way toward reducing duplicated entries...

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Wait I'm confused, I wasn't expecting that. So you moved the second Cellblock A to a new Cellblock E? What were you going to do with the other pages?
EDIT: Oh, I think I get it now. Cellblocks A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, etc.

I think that would be a better idea if the pages didn't grow at irregular rates.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Wait, are only moderators allowed to move pages?
Nope; anyone can.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.If Madrugada isn't already doing it, I'll take a shot at moving some pages.
Go ahead. the steps:
- Make a new blank page at the desired address
- click on the "Source" button on the old page, Copy everything on the page.
- Go to the new, correctly named, blank page, paste in what you copied from the old one. Save
- Go back to the old one. Click the "related to" button. Open each of the pages listed there in turn, and change the wick on that page from the old name to the new one.
- Refresh the "Related to" page for the old page to make sure all the wicks are gone.
- Click the "related to" button on the new page to make sure the wicks are all there.
- Check to see if the Old page had any discussion on its discussion page. If it did, say so in this thread and I'll move it. If it didn't great.
- Go to the old page and insert [[redirect:<new page URL>]] on it. You can blank it aside from that if you want to, but you don't have to.
- Do not cutlist the old page if it has more than 10 inbound links on its "related to" page.
Samaritan: I'm confused? what does growth rate have to do with it?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Using the tradition of Cellblocks (with N entries per cellblock, especially), the entire collection grows by adding one additional page each time we need to.
Under your proposal, the divisions would break up randomly and irregularly, like the Pantheons project. Individual pages would be split at irregular intervals, creating more and longer subdivisions.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. These pages are long way from needing to be split for length reasons, and each page doesn't have to be limited to one topic if it's a short one. I don't see why we should need to limit the number of entries on each page, either, but even if we do, there are not that many topics that will top 100 or 150 entries without getting into duplication or unnecessary over-refinement.
Also, there is not a lot of valid new content being added to any of them any more. The recent edits (back about a year) prior to the beginning of the cleanup on the Cellblock A I've been working on were all namespacing corrections, Trope name changes and Natter.
I personally think that the benefit of reducing the duplication outweighs the minimal problems that topic-sorting them may cause.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Great work, we've finished renaming all the sub-pages. What should we do next?
Pick one and start cleaning it up. I'll keep going as I can on E. Remember to leave edit reasons that link back to this thread to prevent the appearance of vandalism.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm moving this thread to Short-term Projects.
If it shows that it needs to be a long-term/perpetual one, I'll move it again. But for now, I'm going to be optimistic that we can bang it out and be done.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.So sorting into subjects is on the table. This Saturday after I take care of my usual duties I will have time to help out on one of the sections.
Who watches the watchmen?I've done a bit of math, and there are at least 1112 entries (not counting sub-entries) across all the TV Tropes Additional Evil Overlord Vows sub-pages. I'm going to need several other people to join in and help out.

I'd be willing to help once we figure out how to organize it all.
You can always clean up Natter and such while we're figuring out how to organize the pages. Cleaning first will actually make organizing easier.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
It is just that just for fun. They have just been allowed to go to seed from a lack of attention for quite a while. Most pages on the site kind of get that way if you don't keep an eye on them.
