Thanks.
So, first question of the day: What's the difference between the political concepts of nationality and citizenship? Or rather, in countries or academic circles that do differentiate between those two concepts, how do they usually differ, and why? The Other Wiki's article on the topic was rather unsatisfactory in explaining this, IMO.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I imagine nationality is based on what you consider yourself to be, so an adult immigrant citizen would still see themselves as a person from their country of origin, while their kid who immigrated to the new country as an infant would probably see themselves as a person from the country they were raised in.
Citizenship is just a legal status.
Marq, if North Korea fits, which I believe it does, here's the link. You might wanna add it to the list. Good thread.

Can't believe I forgot about that one. Thanks.
In other words, "nationality" is about belonging to a particular people from a geopolitically-neutral, societal sense, while "citizenship" is about allegiance to a political state, irrespective of national origins if said state is not founded on a nation-state model?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. For the sake of completeness of the list, here is the link to the Venezuelan Politics and general situation thread?

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.Thanks. And for further completeness, I searched for "Latin America", and got this OTC thread (last post is from February of this year). Does that look like a good place for discussing Latin American politics?
Nothing for "South America" in OTC, sadly. Makes me wonder if I should make the Americas split between "Northern America" (the official geopolitical term for the non-Latin American parts of the Americas, i.e. everything north of Mexico) and "Latin America", as in the UN geoscheme.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Here's the link for Argentinian politics.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Thanks.
New topic: Sociocracy. Has anyone tried applying it to political governance? Also, does it count as a form of democracy, or is it so different that it should be considered a separate form of political system altogether?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Any chance we could get this thread pinned for easy access? The OP is a pretty good directory for all the regional politics topics.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranI'll pin this, although I'm a bit leery of having it function as both a listing of conversations and a conversation in and of itself.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"... You know, you do make a good point with your reservations. How about this: We make a separate pinned thread that lists the most major/popular/active general-topic OTC threads (I'll leave it to the mods to decide upon the procedure for filtering requests for the addition of new threads), which will include this one but not the more specific politics thread (which are instead listed in the OP of this thread). Kinda like the "Anime/Manga that already have threads." thread, you know?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Mark, if you want to add the Southeast Asia thread to the list, here it is.

~Marq FJA: That suits me. Remake your OP and I'll pin that instead.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"... Remake my OP? Shouldn't that be "make an appropiate OP for this new thread"?
-edited previous post to clarify the wording.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Why are we using the Greater Middle East definition? The South Asia thread already covers Pakistan and probably could with Afghanistan as well. Perhaps there should be a Central Asian threat for them, since they themselves do not consider themselves to be part of the Middle East, Bush era definitions be damned.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...I would suggest to expand this thread to be a directory. That would require editing the OP and the thread title.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDidn't I already suggest that? Or do you mean something else?
Whether or not they consider themselves part of the region doesn't affect the fact that they do have historical and cultural ties to said region in the grand scheme of things.
Here is my tentative draft for this new thread's OP:
The Problem: It can get rather tedious to search for a thread through its title if it involves multiple keywords that can be spelled in several different ways, e.g. American vs. British spelling, hyphenation (sometimes the thread's creator may forget or not know that some part of the title is properly spelled with a hypen), letters with diacritical marks (searching for "Pokemon" won't give you "Pokémon, for example), and other similar cases.
The Solution: Why not make a thread that lists the most major/popular/active threads in OTC with more or less general-scope topics, which would then have their own lists of more specific-topic threads?
NOTE: To make adding threads to the list more efficient, please format new links to the first page of each thread like this:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=*thread_code* Title Of Thread
Current list of threads:
- The General Economics Thread.
- General Politics Thread
- General Science Thread
- LGBT Rights Worldwide
- The Military Thread
- Ongoing European Debt Crisis

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That is what I meant: make a second post with the directory and I'll pin that.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"OK, made a preliminary list of threads and added it to the prior post.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The format is fine. You should add more content, though.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, at that, I am stumped. And I freely admit that I plagiarized parts of the anime/manga thread OP that I cited previously, BTW.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.French Politics thread to be added.
