Opened; at the very least, there needs to be a ZCE cleanup.
The trope is "Nerds as portrayed in Hollywood".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMore specifically, it seems to mean, "In Hollywood (or any media), nerds are hot" (despite the common stereotype that they are usually not).
What I am seeing a lot in the examples is that if you assume that Nerd == Homely therefore Hollywood Nerd == Hollywood Homely. Because of course nerds can't be good looking except in Hollywood.
I don't see how this has anything to do which how the characters are being portrayed as a nerd and has everything to do with the fact that statistically speaking successful actors and actresses are good looking people. And Nerds Are Sexy and Adorkable already cover attractive nerds.
It seems to me that this would have more meaning if it focused less on looks and was more along the lines of But Not Too Nerdy. Prune it down to characters that are considered to be nerdy but lacking the social awkwardness that a lot of nerds are saddled with.
This signature says something else when you aren't looking at it.While I don't expose myself to a lot of fiction, especially fiction that isn't by actual nerds, my impression is that nerds that are main characters are portrayed as socially awkward, but in an endearing way, not enough so to actually turn the non-socially-awkward audience off.
Nerds Are Sexy and Adorkable are about characters that are attractive in-universe, and not even necessarily because they possess conventional attractiveness. The archived discussion seems to suggest that this is best seen, at least in its current/original form, as a subtrope of Hollywood Homely, which is a trope all about the tendency for actors and actresses to be more attractive than the general population.
I do think that would make it a Bad Snowclone, though.

Clocking.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanEvidently no progress; putting this one to bed.

I've looked at the discussion, and noone seems to agree on what this trope actually means. The description is a bit vague, and the examples seem to be "any attractive character in fiction who may or may not be considered nerdy".
I think a cleanup is in order, but I can't even tell what to clean since it's not clear what the trope is supposed to be.
