I just want to talk a little bit about a fan theory that I just don't understand. At all. I've seen a theory that the guard who got killed at the end of Night 5's mini-game might not have been the actual killer but instead just a guard sent to destroy the robots, since it's been shown that with adults {Or at least security guards} the robots can't understand the difference. But there's two reasons why I don't get this.

1: The kids caused the guy's death after the robots had been destroyed. Therefor I don't think they'd be held back by crappy/delusional AI like before.

2: Springtrap displays far too many traits associated with Purple Guy. If he was haunted by, say for instance, Mike, I don't think those traits would be popping up.

Plus Springtrap brings to question how the hell it's working. No power, Purple guy is dead. How much is man and how much is machine?

So... anyone else made identities for Number 3's security guard?

[up] Judging by Springtrap's mannerisms he's pretty much ran by the Purple Man. You can actually see him run by you in the office or in the hall way and it certainly is reminiscent of human movement, it does not look mechanical in anyway . I think the animatronic parts probably work (Fazbear Fright apparently did see them working) but the AI itself is gone.

I personally theorize that the Springtrap/Spring-Bonnie AI remembered the Purple Man when he used his partner (Golden Freddy) to kill the kids and when he killed the Marionette's ghost child all those years ago so he purposefully deactivated the springs to kill the Purple Man. Directly after that point the AI went offline

@2026 I'm not fond of the theory either, but it could theoretically work, predicated on two assumptions that answer your questions.

  1. The ghosts of the children weren't able to tell who they were killing - either too young to really get the difference between people or something about being ghosts making it hard to tell the innocent from the guilty. Gross details like height would stand out (thus making children clearly safe), but fine details like facial features wouldn't.
  2. Something about being trapped as a ghost on Earth drives a spirit insane and causes them to lash out.

I mean, I guess those could be possible, as there's plenty of room in terms of WMG as to how ghosts work in FNAF. That said, absolutely no basis for it in canon - not to mention, who besides the killer would have motive to even go back into Freddy Fazbear's Pizza alone after everything closed down? Occam's Razor suggests that the most likely killer is the Purple Guy, now entombed in Spring Trap.

@2027 I like to think that the third game's guard is Mike Schmidt's son, there to finish what his dad started (even if that wasn't his original intention). No support for that hypothesis in-game, but I like the Book Ends it would present.

[up] Mine was that he had no previous ties to Fazbear Entertainment and was just a university student who picked up the job to pay off student loans.

Springtrap is clearly run by Purple Guy. You can see how much fluid his movement, compared to other animatronics. The way he runs and enters the office are smoother, compared to FNAF and FNAF 2 animatrnic attacks, which have clear robot feel to them.

Then there is the fact that Springtap hides from the player. He never stands out in the open, except when right next to the office (so you can actually see him) or when he is in vents which have limited room anyway. In contrast, other animatronics stood openly, except Freddy in FNAF 1.

Does Phone Guy dying at all qualify for Wild Mass Guessing? Someone edited one of the tropes to say it does, and...I really don't think it does.

I think it was pretty unambiguous that he was killed during the phone recording of Night 4 in the original game.

I'm pretty sure that whatever the order of the murders was, Marionette had to have come first. While I don't actually believe the kids' murder happened the week Jeremy was there in FNAF 2 (I think they happened at least the week before, it's just that the management released the news that week), Phone Guy's comments about it gives the impression that whatever caused the Marionette to be the way it was, it's been that way for quite a while.

@2033 If Phone Guy somehow managed to survive Night 4 of the original game (when he had all five threats of the original game converging at once on him), then he's a freaking wizard. That said, between the "Oh no..." and the request to check the back room (i.e. I think he's asking you to find his corpse... that said, if Fazbear Entertainment is good at anything, it's corpse disposal), I think it's pretty obvious that he died.

Not exactly, my guy is a Scottish fellow, Marcus Mc Greggor, and while he is creative he's not the monster Cooper is, he literally only has a faint knowledge of the Fazbear Pizzeria (Hence why he took the job without worry in the first place).

But that's just my headcanon for the guard.

Oh, lord, just read a joke at Know Your Meme. Now I have to share the pain:

Q: What's Purple Guy's least favourite holiday?

.

.

.

. A: Spring Break.

I spent an embarrassingly long time thinking "wait a minute, those kids he murdered aren't old enough to have Spring Break, what is this...?"

It took me way too long to get the actual joke here.

Okay I have been reading the fridge page for 3 and one makes mention that Purple Guy is a pedophile. Where did that come from? I thought he was just a straight up killer.

It's kind of Finagle's Law of children: whenever there's a character affiliated with children in any way, at some point somebody is bound to play the pedophile card.

I think Xeroop has it. Character Exaggeration is pretty common for fan theories and the like. The logic train is pretty easy to follow - if the bad guy is willing to do one bad thing to kids, wouldn't he be willing to do more?

Still, Purple Guy hardly needs the Ron the Death Eater treatment, given that he's already a serial killer.

I'm not a fan of making Purple Guy a pedophile either. He's already a psycho murderer. Having him be a pedophile just makes the whole thing cliche.

Both are horrible but having him be a pedophile seems needlessly excessive in addition to him being a serial killer. Sort of a whole pushing him over a line of fucked up.

Serial killer. Fucked up.

Pedophile rapist. Fucked up.

Serial killer and pedophile rapist. Extra fucked up.
