Congratulations you idiotic Japanese men, you've ruined any chance of Silent Hill being seen as a masterpiece of survival horror ever again. Watch them cancel Phantom Pain because it's a Kojima product.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.This settles it: Guillermo Del Toro is ****ing cursed. That's the only explanation I can come up with for his projects either becoming commercial flops, getting handed over to other people, or just plain being cancelled.
@Librarian: "Idiotic Japanese men" sort of sounds wrong. I think a better term is "fuckheads at Konami". That's a better way to put it.
And this is incredibly sad. They managed to get everyone hyped up, and then everything just tumbled down...Eugh.

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Well, now the Silent Hill fandom has something in common with the Mega Man fandom (or more specifically, the Mega Man Legends sub-fandom).
In other news, Konami's stock dropped 50 points today and is still on a downswing.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Gee I wonder why
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyIf this keeps going, then it looks like Konami will someday be Driven to Suicide.

I wonder if that's been a trend ever since they decided to get rid of Kojima.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Quick, put Pyramid Head in the Smash Bros. poll.
It's been 3000 years…Konami, much like Sega, gets majority of their profits from Arcade Cabinets and Pachinko machines. If they're video game division were to go bottom up tomorrow, the company itself would still be around.
Biggest fear though is, now that Kojima has been forced out of the company, they're going to give MGS the Call of Duty/Assassin's Creed treatment.

Please. The Silent Hill fandom has had it a lot worse for a lot longer.
[laughs bitterly]
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI mean, Silent Hill 2 is still widely regarded as one of the best Horror games of all time.
And you wouldn't know that from just how little of a shit Konami seemingly gave about the HD collection.
The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, by the same publisher, is a polished masterpiece.
So, I mean. I'm a fan of both series, right?
With Metal Gear Solid V, it's "oh no, the great game in a long list of great games that have had a lot of love is going to be the last really great game!"
With Silent Hills, "oh no, the great game in a long list of games that used to be great but started declining when they started getting a lot less attention and love put into them is now not going to happen!"
There's kind of an obvious difference here?
Like, yeah, we're getting The Phantom Pain. Whoop dee Fucking Doo.

i don't understand what konami's problem is either. since when does it make sense to get rid of the last really strong creative talent they have?
like seriously fuck you konami. Del Toro and Kojima? this game could have been IMMENSE but then you went and ruined it.
Apparently they took issue with Kojima's Face Of The Band reputation.
that's their own fault for screwing up their other franchises. if it was such a problem they should have gotten more visionary creative talent.
They had visionary creative talent!
Team Silent was visionary creative talent before they had their names taken away from the critically acclaimed series they created out of love, they were all fired, and the series was given to some other developers.
...Two instances doesn't make a pattern but goddammit.

Quick, what other franchise does Konami have that people give a shit about? We need to warn them dammit!
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI mean, Castlevania doesn't necessarily come to mind when it comes to visionary creative talent.
But, yeah, Castlevania's had a similar downward spiral.
I mean, I guess counting Castlevania that's three instances.
...And they brought Kojima on to help with a Castlevania at one point and that brought a lot of attention even though it ended up tanking anyway.
Huh.
...I could have sworn the Castlevania game in question ended up seeing the light of day though. Although given the vampires, that may ironically have been what killed it.
With Silent Hills.
There was a game here.
It's gone now.

I believe he worked on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, didn't he? That one isn't beloved by the fanbase, but it did well enough to get a sequel and 2.5D interquel.
It's really too bad that Silent Hills is dead. It was probably the most interesting thing to come out of the 2014 convention cycle.
He was a producer for the game, not involved in the main game design or whatso.

Oh I agree. I thought it was weird that that was the reason for Kojima's sacking. Going all Resenter over your golden egg laying goose was stupid.
And Konami continues its downfall.
