A video with Bruce Timm talking a bit about the film
The Machinima miniseries just started this week.

Well this is... dark.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Yep. I was kinda hoping for a more mature take on "our heroes but not as you know them" but I have faith in Bruce Timm. So I'll reserve judgment until the film proper comes out.
...
Well, I made a smart move in not seeing this last night...
Also, I honestly thought that was Hynden Walch as Harley Quinn until the credits proved me wrong with Tara Strong.
Also also, that ending. Sweet Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I get that this isn't the usual Batman, but really, Bruce Timm? Really?

Having Harley battle in her underwear just seemed unnecessary and a case of trying too hard to be edgy.
I'm suddenly a whole lot less optimistic about this whole thing.
What was it that turned you off? Harley's...attire? Or was it Batman's methods?

Okay, will still watch.
Bruce Timm said it wouldn't be gratuitously violent. I understand that people are shocked by this first episode being more less exactly this despite what he said, but, considering this Batman is a vampire, I suppose it's just to match. Let's just hope the other two are different. Overall I wait to see how it turns out. Let's just hope the characters don't turn out overly douchy.
Also, I understand people being shocked about what Batman do, but keep in mind that 1) This isn't Bruce Wayne, and 2) Frankly, this version of Harley Quinn had it coming. So, yeah, while I understand the shock I am not as horrified as I was with ASBAR, for example.
Now I am not saying this is gonna be great, but let's wait a little more before judging this...
As for Harley's attire...... Yeah, I got nothing for that one. It was rather silly.

It felt more like an extended cold opening than a complete short.
Did it break new ground? Was the writing good? Well, not really. Harley as a complete monster is low hanging fruit. It's easy to write a character who's motivation is "they're crazy" and toss in a bunch of serial killer cliches. Except for the Jack in the Box you could have dropped Victor Zsasz, Killer Croc, Cornelius Stirk or just about anyone into that sequence in Harley's place and have it play out the exact same way. Heck, if they had used Baby Doll it would have at least been a callback to Batman:TAS and been a lot more creepy.
Really? You think it would have been less creepy to see Batman bite the neck of a child-looking character?
Victor Zsasz would have been nice though.

It would've been more creepy. How could you mix those up?
Leaked footage of the Gods and Monsters versions of the Teen Titans.

... True. Sorry, I was half-asleep when I answered this one^^' Had little rest lastly.
Okay, that is kinda funny.
"Bruce Timm said it wouldn't be gratuitously violent"
Too bad it was, despite of what he said or his intentions. Actually, more than gratuitously violent, it was gratuitously nasty and ugly. The Elseworlds card can be invoked to justify it from an in-universe perspective, but meta-wise, this thing hasn't left me wanting to root for this lead character at all.
Maybe it's because I saw the newest episode of Game of Thrones the night before the first short was uploaded, which had a scene that literally made my jaw drop, but that short was REALLY tame compared to most of the movies and shows I've seen.
It was good though, but not dark to me in the slightest.

Then again some people say Evangelion and Elfen Lied are the most disturbing animes and those didn't faze me either.

Correction: the episode was. Let's wait to see the other ones to see if they follow the thread.
Also, really? Nothing makes you root for him? He did save that civilian girl, you know? Somehow the fact he murdered a psychotic Serial Killer cancels that out?
... I admit I didn't expect you to be into Game of Thrones.

Gotta agree with Theokal here, this Bats is simply Punishering a bit. In fact if he has no choice but feed on blood, this might be his best option.
Why? Did you think I was someone who obsesses over Marvel cartoons 24/7?
But yeah I love Game of Thrones.

You know people, Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts was released a while ago.
If you're tired of dark gritty you could talk about that.
Glad someone actually agrees with me here.
... I just didn't expect you to like that sort of stuff. Apologize.

A guy with the smarts and scientific resources to develop cancer-curing 'bat venom' can't get blood shipped right to his lab "for his research"?
Even if he can't, chasing baddies around is probably going to increase his thirst more. I mean, if he's going to toss morality out the window, instead of hunting new people however often, having a few locked up to harvest from regularly is probably more efficient and is going to draw less attention from law enforcement. What's going to generate more heat, a 2-3 missing homeless or a steady stream of blood drained criminals?
I knew this was going to be an Elseworlds story going in.
