peaking of which, holy shit Ishida had better not leave us in suspense over Amon for ages. D:
If Furuta's "final boss" group has Amon's evil adoptive ghoul father in it, then rest assured, Amon survived.

[up] Indeed, I'm wondering how long before we deal with that particular matter. Donato might be a horrible child-eating clown priest, but he still has one potential weak point.

And yes, Owl-zawa seems to be doing much better mentally. Hopefully, this stuff with Akira won't drag out for too long and Ishida will give some proper focus to her conflict with Hinami and Touka. We've been waiting for that since Re began.

[up]It's not quite what I hoped for, but I have a feeling that it might end up being resolved as quietly as Hinami accepted the situation. Although Akira is rather more fiery than Hinami, so perhaps Akira's response might be more complicated.

(The clowns have a pretty good SOS mechanism going on, though I'm a bit unclear whether that kagune fragment is Roma's or Nico's (probably the former). Though it looks like they're not really all that heavy on the comradeship thing, but I guess that could have been expected given the For the Lulz nature of their group.)

Well Akira has changed a lot over the years. Initially she wanted nothing to do with taking care of Kaneki because she knew that he was partly the reason why Amon and Takizawa by proxy were MIA.

Of course she learned that Eyepatch is a much different type of ghoul then the original Owls.....

[up]For that matter, Kaneki is somewhat responsible for Mado senior's death too, given that he held up Amon.

I'd say his mindset does seem to follow Yoshimura's though, at least in Yoshimura's later years.

Go go new spoilers:

  • Kaneki, Tsukiyama, and Nishiki meet with Ogura......in a karaoke place. Tsukiyama sings "A Whole new world", while Nishiki and Kaneki sing "Unravel". Loool.
  • Great Wheel Act started out as a student group from Kamii University.
  • Takeomi, Saiko, and Ui go to the bread place where Yoriko works. Takeomi proposes to her.

Chap's out. I happened to have been listening to Unravel before I started reading and that made the chapter better.

What are the odds that Hide is the leader of Great Wheel?

Maybe, maybe not. It seems that Kimi was one of the founders, at least.

And man.....Kaneki is about to walk into a complete clusterfuck. I was wondering what Furuta's plan was, having the Clowns attack the CCG. Total False Flag operation so that he can come out the hero, having established himself as a brilliant leader (and Matsuri as incompetent) and firmly pin everything on Kaneki. When they go to the lab to steal the medicine, Furuta can frame it as the "Group C" he mentioned.

So he's setting up Kaneki having to fight his friend, Juuzou.

And more than likely, planning to create a new world order with humans and ghouls united......but only because he's using V's methods of having a scapegoat to keep people distracted and afraid. He'll unite everyone under his thumb, periodically finding a new "threat" they have to destroy. Totally ripping off Eto's story of the historical One-eyed ghoul and the One-Eyed King plan.

Oh my god, Bujin. There is a time and place for these things. Okay, perhaps it might not have been that out of the blue from an in-universe perspective (they could have been dating for years for all we know) but that was rather abrupt from the readers' POV. Saiko's reaction just about sums it up.

^ Months, actually. Yoriko showed back up during the Tsukiyama arc, and we learned they went to school together as kids. It's been about......8 or 9 months, I think. So they could have been dating for a couple of months at least.

[up][up]Juuzou was good friends with Kaneki so I doubt we will see them fight for anything but the formality of it.

Also, Juuzou is much much more stable now and he has been that way for years.

Lotsa hijinks this chapter. So poor Ui has to sit through not one but two of Saiko's Spit Takes? And Bujin, you may be taking your father's advice a bit too literally. (Though things are about to get messy again once he starts looking up Touka...)

But damn, it looks like Ui is getting deathflagged. It doesn't bode well for him now that it seems he's been deceived by Furuta.

Takizawa's redemption arc is progressing a bit too rapidly for my tastes...though Kaneki has been very relaxed in who he's accepting into his new team here. And is Koma staying back at base going to become a running gag now?

We all know Kanekibecomes attached to someone as long as they've abused him at some point, so naturally Kaneki has no problem with the guy once onesidedly kicked tortured him out of jealously when he was Haise.

Also surprised Touka never reached out to her at all. So I'm still left wondering who at the hospital did she visit.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

I'm just enjoying the fact Ayato was the first one named for the team "that can take a hit".

Actually, I wonder rather if Ui will end up the Generation Xerox for Marude, the trusted division leader to support the Washuu in charge (Furuta), even being friends while not knowing they are a ghoul

Harostar vanished off the face of the planet it seems. Damn, I missed her showing up and giving the weekly DL on Ishida's wild ride.

Chapter's out. Kankei looks damn good in a white suit.

Furuta's plan seems to be rolling along smoothly, if perhaps maybe slightly over-dramatic/over-acted. Something that confuses me though, is where the clowns are finding so many fanatical, disposable minions? And if I'm understanding those first few pages correctly, some of the minions were even using kamikaze attacks with those balloons? Unless one or more of the clowns can generate human-ish minions with their kagune...that seems a bit too much of a departure from previously-seen abilities, though. Or perhaps a kagune that can control victims, kind of like what Eto did but with more control...

(Didn't expect to actually see a child die on-panel in this series, either.)

And dang, Ishida spoils us with yet another service outfit for Kaneki. I like how Tsukiyama has changed his hair to fit, too.

The primary theory I've been seeing float around is that perhaps some of these are Kanou-produced, disposable agents. We already have some indication that Kanou has some means to force his new Qs to work for him, so there's some potential there.

They seem to be simple-minded kamikaze troops, at any rate. Utterly unafraid and willing to blow themselves up simply to cause problems. Something weird is going on, at any rate.

But yes.....Furuta has been playing everyone like a fiddle so far. Using his Strong Family Resemblance to his advantage, by invoking the image and mannerisms of his late half-brother to win people over. Since he actually is having the Clowns attack the main office, I wonder how Kaneki's plan is going to end up playing into everything. I assume since he made a point of wanting Investigators working with the White Suits team, his plan doesn't involve them attacking the CCG.

Also, I wonder how long before Juuzou's knowing there's a Clown within the CCG will come into play.

So heads up that this weekend is going to be a Break, so no new chapter.

HOWEVER, do not lose all hope. Both Volume 9 and the new novel are being released, plus whatever announcements will be from the TG event so we should still have some goodies.

With any luck, we'll have some good omakes, new character profiles, and some info about the novel stories at least.

TG omakes are amazing. [lol]

That's a good point, about the minion clowns probably being Kanou experimental subjects...though it implies he's been kidnapping a LOT of people/corpses.
