[up] This is me making excited noises.

Apparently, this is the basic jist of all the info there.

"Zakki will include: - Unpublished cuts. - Author’s commentary. - Full-color illustrations.

Both TG Vol. 14 and Zakki will be released on the same day, October 17, 2014.

...and more...!

The last slide:

...Begin. (basically, to start-up)"

I still will deny that Kaneki is dead until I see a body. Arima is way too suspicious, undeveloped, and overpowered of a character for me to be satisfied if he did die.

Yeah, between all the "Rebirth" symbolism and shady things surrounding it, I am not convinced.

Rather, right now I'm wondering if we're going to get a Brainwashed and Crazy Kaneki. (Apparently, in the page with the briefcase, it actually says "Yes, se-..." and not simply yes. With the implication being that Arima isn't the person speaking.

Plus, we have Hide who is insanely resourceful.

Apparently, just FYI, a sequel has been confirmed.

...Had to edit that as I just realized the link is NSFW.

[up] PM the link to me? I'm super-eager for any official confirmation!

ETA: Thanks. Looks like it's primarily about the update to the official site, which I agree does seem to confirm that we're getting something more. We'll see what it ends up being called. (If they keep the "re" stuff, I'm betting something like "Tokyo Ghoul: Rebirth" or something to that effect?)

Anyone else notice with the exception of Arima, the main antagonists of the series and side-stories (Joker, Jack) are women?

Ishida Sui's "shocking" new serialization begins on October 16th!

Sequel or the fandom will explode.

[up][up]What about Eto? She's classified as an antagonist due to her position in Aogiri.

[up] I included her, yeah. So it's Eto, Lantern, and the Skull Gang leader from Joker. I guess all the major Ghoul antagonists are female?

Well we have Tutara, Kanou, Orca, and Noro to make up for it along with Naki and possibly Noface (Uta) along with the Clown Gang. Not including Ayato as he's more of ambiguous (he still cares about Touka, but the situation is twisted as all hell) then anything else.

We still don't know anything about that party that was targeting Yoshimura though.

Interesting tidbit is the tagline:

"The legend has a beginning. If you bear witness to this beginning, it will be a moment you will never forget as long as you live!!"

Sounds like possibly a prequel, or maybe if it is a sequel it's going to start off flashing back to the past? I'd be down for learning more about Yoshimura's past and the formation of Anteiku, or Eto's past.

I'm not down for learning more of Yoshimura's past if it means we don't know what's happening in the present timeline.

[up] I would definitely prefer a straight-up sequel. But at this point, I'd take anything that would address all the unanswered questions about what's going on behind the scenes with V.

Also, man is the creator sneaky. I just noticed that Takatsuki Sen is left-handed.

viz has now licensed it for june 2015 release

i have actually been reading this, up to volume 3. i like it, it's not GREAT necessarily but the characters are pretty decent and the Grayand Grey Morality they seem to be setting up is reasonably strong.

edit: on volume 4. wow this sure did pick up. i'm actually kinda engrossed now! i haven't finished this yet but it seems ishida is an author with a lot of potential.

[up] Welcome to our great suffering.

The good/bad news is that tomorrow-ish we should have word about what the Special Event entailed. And on the 16th, Ishida Sui's new series hits shelves, so we will know whether or not predictions about a Sequel come true. (If it isn't a sequel or otherwise takes place in the same universe, I expect rioting fandom.)

On the Sequel theory front, I stumbled across one theory that I initially didn't pay much attention to. But now it's definitely got me thinking. Some people are predicting that Amon and Takizawa were both taken/are both alive. Saw some theories about both being used as test subjects by Kanou and possibility of Takizawa switching sides, which initially I thought was silly since Takizawa is...well...minor. But then I realized they have the same blood type (A) and Takizawa is one of the characters with a Tarot Motifs tied into his character — namely, The Devil. Which represents Doubt, Materialism, Ambition, and the struggle to overcome Darker Urges. We've already seen that he's basically jealous and struggling with an inferiority complex while desperately wanting to be special.

That sounds like a recipe for a Face–Heel Turn.

CONFIRMING!!!!!

Tokyo Ghoul S2 Jan 2015!

And the new manga is TOKYO GHOUL:re!!!

Lovely person doing a translation of script.

http://makyun.tumblr.com/post/99638091682/tokyo-ghoul-re-ch-1

The biggest think, I think, is the revelation that CCG is using a team of artificial One-Eyed Ghouls. Also, the fact that Haise is heavily suspected by fans to be Kaneki. I guess we'll see where things go, but it really is off to an interesting start.

ETA: And the raw scans are out. Interesting facts: CCG's half-Ghouls can eat human food, it seems. At least, we see two of them eating without problem. They use regular Quinque most of the time, but can also use Kagune when necessary. The're like a whole team of Juuzous, all difficult to manage and doing their own things.

If that kid crying over the rose is referring to Tsukiyama when he says "Shuu-sama", it appears that Tsukiyama's trained himself a Large Ham protege.

[up] It would seem so.

But oh my god, I sincerely hope we'll get to see Tsukiyama and Chie in the series. From the summaries of the novels, they are hilarious together.

(Quotes oh my god they are amazing I need them in the main series.)

"Of course! I get it now! You’re a pet!" says Tsukiyama happily because no one ever taught him about liking people.

Chie gives him a dubious look and says, "Eh??"

"I thought it was strange, why couldn’t I move my index finger? But when I think of it as being the same as how people keep pets, it makes sense! Little Mouse, I’ll make you my pet from now on!"

"Uh, no." She refused and began checking the photos she took.

"Is this how people feel when they’re charmed by a cat that won’t come near them? How intriguing!"

He pats her on the head without thinking and, as he does it, her size also seems convenient for keeping as a pet.

(Chie is mentioned in the main series as the person that hacked CCG's database for Kaneki's group. She's also the camera girl hanging out with Not!Tsukiyama.)

Info from the Special Event:

  • They had a display with Kaneki's battle costume, good god it really is bondage-tastic.
  • Actors played a game where one of the sandwiches tasted bad. The one that got the gross sandwich is a Ghoul.
  • Kaneki and Yamori's actors became good friends, and went out for yakiniku after recording sessions.
  • Kaneki's actor got into the role by practicing trying to make himself sick after eating.
  • 40-second PV for the second season premiered. (Shot of Kokuria seen, Kaneki in battle suit)
  • Artwork of White Kaneki in his battle suit, slowing breaking apart. (Are we going to squeeze in the entire second half of the series?!)
  • Tokyo Ghoul: re previewed. Random collection of images (Akira visiting a graveyard, Haise comes to see her. Back of someone wearing what looks to be a waitress uniform talking with another woman — Hinami and TOUKA maybe?! )

i'm on volume 5 now.

i'm kind of impressed; i thought nishiki was a complete and total irredeemable asshat but this backstory makes you completely re-evaluate his entire character. honestly, my only real issue with the series is that the art is a bit inconsistent. some of the panels look fantastic, and in others they look kind of amateurish and sloppy. i think ishida honestly has a lot of potential, if he could keep up his current level of storytelling and put out more consistent art he'd be amazing.

[up] Yeah, several characters end up surprising us over the course of the story.

(Nishiki and Kimi are a major OTP for me, I won't lie. I sincerely hope we'll be seeing them again in the sequel.)

The artwork definitely improves, as you'd expect from a long-running series. As a fun bonus, keep your eye out for little Easter Eggs in the artwork. He loves to sneak in symbolic stuff or hidden numbers (for Tarot cards).

Random Observation of the Day: The Quinix appear to be able to eat regular food. (At least, we see Saiko chomping down on what looks like potato chips or a similar junk food snack). However, Haise just has a drink when he joins Akira at the restaurant for lunch.

And holy crap, apparently some people think "Torso" is a totally off-the-rails Tsukiyama. I'm.....not sure if want or not.

So what, are there going to be like 206 chapters or something? Or perhaps 103?

Bleddyn Since: Feb, 2014

Hmmmmm....the CCG artificial half ghouls make me think that there is no freaking way Kaneki is dead at this point as he is the only ghoul that was nabbed rather then cut to ribbons by them in the first place (I doubt Eto is working with CCG) in the Raid on Antenekiu . The idea that Kaneki might also be one of the new character's with a new pre-programed personality by Arima is possibility too.

I fear for the former possibility though. We saw what Rize was like when she was being used to create ghouls and Kaneki was already loosing his mind. I rather not see another Yamori just because CCG tortured and starved him while harvesting his organs....

Edit: I checked the translated version of the new manga, I would be really surprised if Haise was not Kaneki. He looks exactly like him all the way down from his physical appearance to his mannerisms. It's likely though that his hair suggests that this is a different personality altogether that is a combination of his last too (he seems genuinely nice and clumsy like Kaneki was way back at the start but he killed that ghoul with his quinique in a very calm manner). It also seems likely that Haise knows nothing about himself other then being an investigator.

The new half-ghouls are pretty interesting too, calm guy, crazy guy, and another guy with a bowlcut and we haven't seen that girl with the pigtails in action. Considering that Amon, Hide, and Hazaki might also be half-ghouls employed by Ayogri and that Ayato seems to of joined of Antneiku in those 3 years since Kaneki went missing this new manga is looking to be real interesting

[up] Yeah, there's a lot of theories being thrown around. While it could be a red herring, I honestly think there is way too much evidence pointing towards Haise being Kaneki. (The epilogue shown at the Special Event shows his hair was almost entirely white when he first started working for CCG, but has gradually become mostly black over the years.)

And actually, he doesn't kill that Ghoul. He stops his subordinates from finishing the Ghoul off, quoting Article 13 (not causing unnecessary suffering) and insisting that he might be useful for information. Ukie's comment suggests he regularly captures Ghouls rather than kill them like most Investigators.

I'll be interested to see where they go with things. Saiko, the pigtailed girl, seems to be able to eat human food without a problem. On the other hand, we only see Haise drinking when he sits down at lunch with Akira — more evidence he may not be like the other hybrids CCG is using. The Epilogue PV also has Akira thinking about how he's rumored to be "different", way back when he was just a Rank 3 rookie and the team was only an idea.
