Since Ravens and ESP have their own threads, why not make one for another Tokyo series, eh?

If you dislike the protagonist, he gets worse or better depending on who you ask.

I'm just going to guess "better or worse" means "more angsty." Better: angst -> character development; Worse: whining a lot.

Kaneki stops complaining about being a Ghoul after the Mother and Daughter arc, and fully accepts it after what....Jason (Yamori) does to him.......

I personally think his transformation if you will is interesting, he only seems to kill the assholes so he still is Kaneki to me. The only thing that confuses me so far is what the hell kind of relationship he has with Touka, they at the very least are close friends....but beyond that I have no clue. I haven't read all the raws though but I do hear that there relationship gets even more complicated later on.

That's good. Although this episode was a definite improvement. Kaneki angsting was getting really annoying. Look, either suck it up and eat some bad people or kill yourself, ok? Yeesh.

I don't really get much of a Yandere vibe from Touka. (anime only for me though).

There is also the age difference, Kaneki is a college student and Touka is a high school student. The way they act towards eachother, especially after Kaneki was tortured by Jason does seem a bit more than friends. Always kind of wondered why did Uta ask Kaneki if he thought Touka was cute or not....

Just anime for me too...the whole beating Kaneki up thing could be taken as the ghoul equivalent of a pinch on the nose given that they can survive 6-inch diameter holes in their stomachs with some bed rest, but the "I'll kill your bestie if he finds out about us" was just a bit yandere.

Yeah I definitely got a yandere feeling from Touka at times, although it would not surprise me considering she clearly has some issues with people abandoning her (How upset she was with Ayato, her reaction to Hinami's mother getting killed by the Doves, her reaction to Kaneki leaving Anteiku).

The anime seems to lean towards the possibility that Hide already knows that Kaneki is a ghoul with the end of the second episode. I am pretty sure he already has suspected it in the manga so far in the translated stuff (I haven't read the raws yet so I have not seen if he figured it out yet)

The most important part of this episode is that we learned Kaneki is a big fucking nerd who tries to impress little girls with his mad reading skills.

x5 Ghouls are technically non-persons who can be killed on sight, right? Not sure I'd call her a yandere for just that. She didn't seem to care about Hinami for example.

People are actually confused about the Touka x Kaneki UST? I dunno if it goes anywhere, but it's pretty obvious they were setting it up.

I like Hide actually and hope he doens't get eaten. It's sort rare to have a friend who isn't either way better than MC or way worse in order to make them look good.

Weird thought: This is the third Touka I've seen in anime in the past year(more wouln't surprise me) and they are all dark haired and all pretty violent. Common name I guess?

Yes Ghouls are thought to be as non-human by humans so it's thought to be perfectly acceptable to kill them on sight, even if they are children.

Touka does care about Hinami (she let Hinami stay at her home after her mom died and Anteiku was not safe anymore) and seems to try to be a big sister to her. It's implied in the manga and anime that she is jealous of how Kaneki ended up becoming more of a big sibling to Hinami then she did.

I find it amusing that he ended up getting stuck in hell (Or some weird twisted version of heaven)for his craziness.

What's in those Doves' briefcases? Some kind of electric whip? It might also be like the tentacle-thing Ghouls have.

You guessed it right on the second one. The ghouls have a special organ named a Kagune that can give them 4 different types of what pretty much is weaponized blood (which also even varies among the individuals of those 4 classifications), there is also technically a fifth one from Awakened Ghouls but I won't spoil to much about them.

The CCG makes weapons out of those Kagune as normal weapons like knives and the what not will not even touch ghouls. Kaneki's kagune is special for obvious reasons (he is a half ghoul and Rize was a strong ghoul with a unique kagune)and the only other people I know of that might have a special Kagune is Hinami and One-Eyed Owl (Note: He is not the same character as the One-Eyed King, and I won't spoil who he is although its pretty obvious if you look at his appearance)

Is this going to be primarily for the manga or the anime? I ask cuz people are just casually talking about all kinds of manga stuff (which is perfectly fine) but if that is the case than I will not be here cuz I don't want spoilers. Just wanna know.

The manga has been going on for 4 years and recently hit Chapter 135, large amount the new found popularity has from what at least I seen has come from the manga getting translated (Currently on Chapter 82) and the anime starting not to long ago. As for spoilers I'd think you would be fine if you did not pay attention to the comment sections when watching or reading the anime and manga.

So, without spoilers, how many chapters into the manga is the anime as of episode 4?

- I wonder why even different kinds of meat taste nasty to ghouls. Aren't humans just long pork?

- Obligatory bulimia must suck. A lot.

- If it weren't for that face, we wouldn't know for certain that purple-haired guy is bad. It was pretty obvious, but just to make it undeniable.

- Half-ghouls are superior, huh? I wonder why, besides plot.

- Poor Taro-chan. He wasn't a bad boy really.

- Ugh.

- So, what, Tsukiysma killed Rize? And that's supposed to be a bad thing?

- This is really narm.

This is a series where an organ transplant can somehow affect your genes instead of the other way around and turn you into a completely different species than you were before. Ghouls only being able to eat human meat "because" is the least questionable thing here.

It's weird that Rize appears to have been… kind of elitist, maybe? Like, she read as if she was claiming the moral high ground in the flashback, but she really had no right to do that. And there's the way she told Jason to f*ck off back in episode 1, which had a similar feel to it.

Reading the manga up to chapter 65, the anime team really rushed forward a few things.

Episode 4:

• Shu's one crazy fruit-loop. And perhaps a junkie.
• Sudden training. Turns out Ren made the right call.
• Well... Having a death-match's a way to order take-out, I guess.
• So... someone wanted Rize dead. And she's...not such an upstanding citizen of the ghoul community. She must've irritated someone enough to have her killed. But who? Pretty sure she ticked off a lot of people.
