Disney's Star vs. the Forces of Evil

Ho dear, look at them rocketing right into the next story arc with a big bang. I'm liking very much what they're doing here.

So What are your thoughts on Eclipsa? I want to trust her, but I know she has some shady history surrounding her.

I wonder if they will go the Tragic Villain route with her.

Count me among those that doesn't believe that Toffee's actually dead. I mean, as far as we know only the dark spell Moon learnt could kill him, and if a magical explosion didn't kill him, how would a stone pillar do that?

As for exclipsa, I don't buy her as an actual villain just yet. We don't really now what it was he did beside marry a monster, and she currently has yet to do anything truly bad aside from being a practitioner of dark magic. I think Moon's simply porjecting, trying to blame some outside figure for her own bad decisions. And the High Magic Council aren't exactly the best when it comes to judging people either (ESPECIALLY Rhombulus, who as far as I know has yet to face any comeuppance for his own unlawful imprisonment of people)

I do wonder since Eclipsa married a monster, that would mean the possibility of the bloodline having monster ancestry.

About today's episodes: Jackie's face when Marco grabbed her hand and called her his best friend fucking hurt me.

Why would he say that?

They're not married.

I am sooo glad we find out what happened to Jackie. She really is a great character! She seems to be at peace with Star's declaration of love towards Marco and how she helps convince him to go back to Mewni. Oh and yes, it's awesome Marco has the cape from the intro. I was afraid it was just be a throwaway gag!

I really did find it sweet how Marco got to be with Jackie for awhile as she was his childhood crush...but I want him to be with Star even more. Actually, my second favorite Marco pairing would be Hekapoo. I just love that episode so much with their dynamic.

He'll get with somebody so I'll be satisfied anyway.

Did... did they just break up Marco and Jackie?

I mean, I expected it to happen at some point, I just didn't expect it to happen so... casually? real sweet, though, and quite emotional all the same if you're willing to do some facial reading.

At least we'll be reuniting Star and Marco soon! I liked the past few episodes just fine, but it's just not the same without the great character dynamic those two got going. Shame that their "happily ever after" is now going to get complicated by Star getting back with Tom, but whatcha gonna do? We still got a season to fill.

Also, it's always a treat to see Marco's Mystery Money. Still one of my favourite gags ever, and calling back to it always makes me laugh all over again.

Oh boy, the Love Triangle and the Unrequited Love Switcheroo. That's gonna be fun.

And you bet Eclipsa will find ways to exploit it.

Well, I will admit that I’m still currently within the processing stage of this turn of events, possibly because part of me was actually starting to feel that Star and Marco really shouldn’t have happened. I mean, if the blood moon ball incident was what made a romantic relationship between the two of them possible, then that’s not really Love now is it?

But Marco and Jackie were both two free-minded individuals who grew closer to one another after being given time to get to know one another and realize what common grounds that they had with the other, much like how Star and Tom appear to be at this point

The Blood Moon Ball incident did not make it happen. The Blood Moon Ball happened because Star and Marco were already destined to be together. It's an augury, not a magic whammy.

Well, okay, that's pretty much headcanon since Tom definitely acts like the Blood Moon does have that kind of power, but Star and Marco already had a great dynamic going before.

So, ah... is there a reason Eclipsa is suddenly twenty?

She's supposed to be an incredibly powerful magic-user. I don't think she needs a "reason" to be whatever age she wants.

I just got done binge watching all the new episodes. It's great to see how Marco has matured and dealing with new responsibilities. Dang, I love that guy so much! This is a show that gives its characters real emotions.

I hope I’m not the only who feels kind of disappointed by how...sudden things have felt in the recent episodes. I guess that’s kind of a given when the last episode before this hiatus was “Toffee,” which was one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. At the end of that episode we’re shown that although Mewni might temporarily be safe, Eclipsa’s crystal is beginning to crack. The next time we see her she’s already roaming around like it’s nobody’s business and Star doesn’t seem to recognize her despite having seen her portrait in “Into the Wand.” I really wish that we were able to see Eclipsa break out of the crystal and what her thoughts were after finally being freed. Yes, I know that is a relatively minor part of an overall solid episode, but this is a problem I’ve had throughout the entirety of the show so far.

I felt so bad that Marco doesn't have a girlfriend anymore. I love that guy so much I feel so bad when he doesn't get what he deserves.

You know, I think there's something wrong with me. The same day I saw those episodes, I saw a Gumball episode where Gumball's house was on fire. Gumball got the girl he wanted, so I actually feel sorrier for Marco than I do Gumball. It's kind of like I actually felt worse for Dipper in the last "Gravity Falls" episode because he didn't get a girlfriend even though he got friends and adventures.

Wow, am I a romantic sociopath or something?

Nobody deserves a girlfriend...

Nobody deserves a mate...

The money is in the chase. Shipping Bed Death anyone?

Yeah, a lot of things go by a bit too fast with this show, it's almost as bad as Adventure Time in that regard.

For example, I don't think the events of "Sophomore Slump" should've been just one episode, or at least it shouldn't have ended with Marco being dumped, give another episode, and maybe leave Tomstar hanging for a bit. Let the elements clash a bit more.

Or maybe instead of having Marco immediately go back to Star, have him just adventure around Mewni's wilds before reuniting.

Instead, it's the same Love Triangle nonsense that plagued Legend Of Korra. And for once, I personally hope they go the gay route given all the Ho Yay with Tom and Marco. That said, the whole premise of Season 3 feels a bit like some kind of inversion of Seasons 1 and 2...some of Marco's mannerisms looked suspiciously like Star in that squire episode.

They’re not going to go the gay route in all this. At least not in this reality.

You know given the peek into multiversal antics that there’s a dimension where Tom Co is a thing and it’s going to freak out our mainline counterparts. Actually I want to see that now.

It's the classic Unrequited Love Switcheroo.

Yes, I know. But it's also the most cliche possible way to get there.

Luckily, it's not a Romantic Plot Tumor taking over the whole show. Princess Turdina and Starfari were excellent episodes.

Wait, so how long was Marco on Mewni? In "Sophomore Slump" it sounds like he was there for like a month.
