Yeah. That may give me some sleepless nights.

I have a feel that JR may not like Lovecraftian stuff involved, unless he's fine with it.
Your feeling is right. The setting doesn't call for anything Lovecraftian and I don't want it to, plus it really inteferes with my plans regarding the reveals of the Zero Network's true nature and Echo City's location.

As long as Cthulhu doesn't make a cameo it will probably be ok.
Yeah no Cthulhu is a definite for me.

Don't worry, there will be no Cthulhu.
Good.

Well, I'll do my best to keep away from anything too lovecraft-like. Really getting excited to start the rp, though - I love solving mysteries.

Can we do Lovecraftian as in a lot of people going insane? Because I can't think of anyone in Lovecraft that didn't go crazy....That didn't suffer a Fate Worse than Death

Good to be back

But this RP is cyberpunk, not Lovecraft. People going insane in this world would need a very good reason for it.

This mystery is going to be really fun, I can't wait to see all your predictions on what the Zero Network is or where Echo City truly is.

[up][up] I agree with the GM. I will be keeping my things rather more controlled, and I hope there's no attempt to do something as icky as what happened in the Humongous Mecha RP.

Hm, how to tie my character to the Zero Network plot...

Thank you. And yeah no plans I have so far are going to be as squicky or lovecraftian as what the Humongous mecha RP had I can guarantee that much.

Hm, how to tie my character to the Zero Network plot...
What kind of character do you have planned?

I just remember that I read a GITS light novel once where Section 9 is confronted by dead victims with signs that indicated that vampires may be on the loose in Japan. Of course, it's a red herring and there's a reason for it. evil grin

[up] One of these days I really got to get back to the GITS series, I've only watched the 1st film by utter chance and I really want to see the sequel and series.

On a similar note I'm gonna be starting the anime mind screw that is Serial Experiments Lain, so that should some fun, cyberpunk to mess with me.

Well, if it's prediction time: I'm gonna guess... either a post apocalyptic Earth or space/another planet. And, Zero Network is a group consciousness formed of dead people brain patterns. tongue

Not entirely sure how I'll get involved in the main mystery either.

Hey, that's Psycho Pass (I just call it "Psychopath" the Anime!)

Of course, I'm sticking with me, though I don't know if I want the traitor in the unit who sold his comrades out for the lulz or because of something else.

I can't really dignify these predictions with responses otherwise I might imply something of the reveal. wink

Your Zero Network guess is wrong though I can guarantee that.

I haven't seen Psycho Pass sadly (despite the strong recommendation from a friend) so i'm not sure which one of those predictions fits or if there's a storyline there I don't know

You don't have to be connected to the main mystery as soon as the RP starts, you can find a way to do so somewhere down the line. It's just that most of Butch's story arc will have investigating the main mystery.

Yeah, 'tis fine. Though I don't know if someone will be interested in joining the fun with my story arc.

Also, the RP should start by Monday, Australian time?

Monday or Tuesday. Maybe even earlier depending on how some plans I have for the weekend turn out.

Okiez. Good to know since it's Thursday right now in +8 GMT timezone. Don't know about your state though, unless it's west or east to get a good gauge.

Well, I figure, my character being a Psycho for Hire who uploaded himself over Zero Network, he'd be interested in the murders.

The absence of biology manipulation/deviation of any level must be important, as you stated it doesn't work with your plans. Plus the apparent absence of anti-cybernetic countermeasures and the sheer commonplace nature of cybernetics... The only thing that makes sense is the cyborgized population must serve some purpose for the villains, cause otherwise there would be no point for biological wackivity being horribly sidelined. Though I can understand from an OOC perspective, since bio-mods would lack the disadvantages of cybernetics.

If Echo City isn't a VR world, but there's a likelihood of it being post apocalyptic Earth or elsewhere... Even if its a physically unchanged Earth after one thousand years, the lack of cultural change is suspicious. Though the only reason I would see the need for you to hide the location is if the inhabitants themselves didn't know where they were. Outsiders would have to know where it is so they can go there, and even if they were kidnapped they would try to find out or the very least leave. Though simply mentioning where it is would still allow you to hide its true nature. By the way, have you played Gravity Rush?

Your ideas are right on some level, I'll give you that.

Correctamundo Kkut

Still I have to hide where Echo City because its location ties in heavily to the big reveal. Just revealing its location with no context or explanation wouldn't work and just leave you guys constantly asking for more. Which defeats the whole purpose.

And no I haven't played Gravity Rush. I think it should be clear by now that any game you've asked me if I've played I would clearly not have played. I haven't played a lot of video games lately anyway.

I'm getting Matrix vibes from that speculation.

Plot Idea: Eventually, Xander manages to upgrade his Mech Control nanites, and becomes able to control tech in general. This results in trouble when he gets the idea to start trying to control the Zero Network.

It's no problem if you're seeing Matrix vibes, I love the Matrix trilogy (yes even the sequels) and they may or may not have some influence on the world here especially in regards to the Zero Network.
