@Rabid Tanker: I read that as "Semi-Automatic".
Been watching The Grumps rail into the game. It took Arin several uncomfortable-looking tries or so until he stopped trying to use Knuckles' Dig function and properly ground pounded the switch.
And if not that, using the jump glitch to bypass the easiest of things to do. Such as opening the door a ways past the first crystal door. That invisible barrier was not high enough.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefWait, how do you not know how to pound switches by the time you get to Knuckles's part of the tutorial? He's, like, the third guy you use.
I have a message from another time...Because we have 15 games (I think, but it might be more than this) for the Nintendo 3DS, and over 100 cartridges each for our Nintendo DS. As you might expect, he's basically tired of video games if they're bad enough. And for the record, he said that because he was half-asleep and didn't know what game it was...until he played this and promptly reversed his opinion about the 3DS. And here's some more things that separates us: I prefer an challenging games to sharpen my intellect, and I play passive-aggressively or just use my brains to counter and tire him out in Super Smash Bros; he wants something that's fun, but not too hard for him, and of course his playstyle consist of an intense barrage that I can't mimic. Guess who wins in the long run and got us both banned from playing together?
Well the game wasn't as bad as I thought, and it's definitely better than 3DS Sonic Generations (I'm serious. an barebones story + an time-travel paradox plotline + lackluster gameplay + an extremely short game = Rabid Tanker will experience severe indigestion and a thirst for trolling, griefing, and other methods of toxicity) by an longshot: it has comedy, an in-game comic that explains the setting in a humorous manner, and a brand of gameplay that I've never seen before. But alas, every book has to come to end, since I'm at 72% finished on the 3DS,just about to fight Lyric, and I'm sick about being forced to backtrack through just about every level just to farm enough medals to reach the next area. I don't know sometimes Filler can be good and sometimes it just kills the game...

Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakThese are the guys who, at the point they are now at, in the Luigi's Mansion playthrough, STILL haven't shown Mario's items to Madame Clairvoya, and STILL haven't tried vaccuming certain things, so the doors don't swing open and whack poor Luigi in the face.
They seem to forgo actually paying attention to the obvious onscreen cues and info, to ramp up the witty banter. They weren't shy about the Knuckles jump glitch, either. They used it to get all the way to a structure out in the water that Sonic and Tails would have reached in a fraction of the time via Hydro Dashing.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThey were using the wrong stomp...which is different from normal stomping.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I hear Shattered Crystal is a much better game than Rise of Lyric and was thinking of getting it.
Since my last Sonic game for the 3DS was Generations which I found a bore (PC and Console version was much better) can anyone tell me if Shattered Crystal is up my alley?
I'm having to learn to pay the priceGlad I'm not the only one who disliked 3DS Generations...
My review of the 3DS version of Boom, it's alright. But there are so many plot holes, that I don't even know where to start; Robotnik's unexplained absence from the story, the "Shattered Crystal" that I reassembled, I'm not sure if there's an hidden boss fight, an no explanation on what happened to Lyric and Metal Sonic.
Note to self: stop buying newly released games, for most of them weren't worth it in retrospect.
This is how I usually shop when it comes to video games...

Yeah, I just saw the clip myself.
...that's not even the tutorial. That's hours, and dozens of button smashes, after the tutorial! How did they get stuck there?
side note: I kind of love how people are actually calling this worse and buggier than '06. Legit, that is the most hilarious thing to hear.

I have a message from another time...I'd certainly call it more unappealing, for starters.
In any case, again, GG is infamous for that kind of thing. Arin mostly just wings it for the majority of the games he plays (some of which aren't even blind runs), which combines with nearly week-long breaks between sessions for all sorts of Flame Bait mistakes. Just look at their most recent SB episode.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy...Why are there multiple ground-pound moves that don't all pound the green buttons? That's the main gameplay, finding the next green button to pound, so they ought to make it easier! After all those green buttons, there's no way you'll remember what to do when there's nothing in the next room but a tiny light in the wall.
The other is the Special Attack button...it being a 2nd stomp is only from how Sonic and Knuckles' special attacks work.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.For Knuckles, that "second stomp" is really just him rushing to the ground in an attempt to dig. If hes not standing on ground where this is possible, it defaults to something like a spin when he hits the ground, hitting a few times.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefYeah. For every character, you've got your basic attack and you've got your special move. The basic attack in the air is a stomp which, as is rather relentlessly shown in the tutorial cave, hits buttons. You're never called on to use your special move to hit buttons.
But yes, Sonic and Knuckles will land if they use their special move in the air.
I have a message from another time...And now for something wiki-related...
I've been thinking bout Shattered Crystal's plot and was planning on adding the following examples.
- Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Metal Sonic had no foreshadowing of his appearance. And after his race with Sonic, he's basically forgotten by the plot.
- Plot Hole:
- It's never explained why Eggman is defending Lyric's robot factory.
- And the Shattered Crystal itself, an relic of unimaginable power, has very little effect on the story.

Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakNone of those sound right to me.
I've not yet seen this race with Metal, but he does show up, early on, before you get to the Tutorial Tomb.
Eggman's probably guarding the factory because he's teamed up with Lyric, or (if you mean before he officially teams up with him) because he wants to use the factory to make robots for himself.
I don't know anything about the shattered crystal. Is that thing only in Shattered Crystal, or is it an established thing in the main setting?
I have a message from another time...I was talking about Shattered Crystal only. Hang on while I find an You Tube about this.
EDIT: found one. Ok, this is basically the only level where they both appear.
My references start at 8:36 an 12:36

Note that they said Metal Sonic was flying towards this area, but he's never seen again for some reason...

Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakQuestion: If you could have designed/written Lyric, or programmed his boss fight, how would you change him?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Let him steal the Shattered Crystal, making him so powerful that Sonic and his friends need some assitance from Eggman and Shadow. As it stands now, 3DS battle is an "Get Back Here!" Boss duel, with my concept, it'll be an hybrid of the Ghost Titan, the Egg Emperor and Devil Doom: Sonic gets launched at Lyric by Eggman to weaken him, Shadow uses his Chaos powers to score an direct hit to damage him. Now as for the setting, they'll still be aboard his airship, chasing Lyric until he stops an an arena to unleash an wave of his robots. After killing said Mooks, Eggman uses one of his mechas to fire an spinballing Sonic out of an cannon to temporarily deactivate Lyric's force field. Control switches to Shadow, who has to aim and charge an Chaos Spear For Massive Damage.
Rinse and repeat until halfway through, where Eggman's machine is destroyed by the Genre Savvy boss and Shadow is knocked unconscious. Now, it's an one-on-one duel like the Nega-Wisp Armor from Sonic Colors Wii: an series of Homing Attacks are the only to damage him after dodging his attacks.

Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakI'm slogging through the game right now.
My least favorite part isn't even the gameplay. No, my least favorite part is how the characters never shut up for even five seconds. Seriously, even Sonic Heroes didn't have them talk this much. And at least half the dialogue is either saying what has to be done, or just pointing out things on the screen. It's like a parody of the Captain Obvious tendencies of the Sonic Team games, but even then it wouldn't be funny.
Well, according to that one article linked to a while back speculating on what the heck happened, it's possible the dialogue rate was increased so people at E3 or wherever could hear the characters better or something. And there was supposed to be an option to increase/decrease dialogue frequency, but the game was rushed so it never happened.
Don't know if that's true, and, I mean, that knowledge probably won't make it any more tolerable, but, hey, maybe you can take some solace in the fact that there's a reason for your misery, I guess?

Why no more 3ds games?
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.
