I kind of like it, it switches the design up, and the only other time that happened was in Deadly Alliance. I'm also loving the aged look for him.

MK 9 kung Lao is actually one of my least favorite incarnations of him. He felt like he was lacking coolness and looked like a dopey Mexican guy.

...we're talking about the same guy who took down Shang Tsung and Quan Chi?

I think that was the most badass Kung Lao's ever been. At least, for those few seconds.

What bugged me about Kung Lao in 9 was that he kept his characterization from Shaolin Monks. I much prefer the Badass Pacifist of the original canon over the guy who's jealous of Liu Kang.

I dunno, I kinda saw less of the jealous fuckface in MK 9. Hell in MK 9 he says he's Liu Kang's equal. Not superior, equal, which is a step up from the absolute dick-waving jock pretending to be Kung Lao in SM.

But yeah a return to the pacifist nice guy Kung Lao would be nice even if it was the moany pessimist "I'm a loser" guy from the Malibu comics.

I actually liked Vegata-esque Kung lao more lol.

MK 9 kung Lao was too nice and looked dumb.

Give me Kitana and Fujin and I'll be happy.

Fujin needs to make a comeback.

He cameo'd in Kratos's ending, and while Kratos may not be a canon kombatant, I'd be disappointed if Fujin was excluded again. He's part of the MK 4-MKA era.

Preview for the upcoming comic. Kenshi and Hsu Hao appear on these pages. I can see (ha!) Kenshi in X, but I'm doubtful about Hsu Hao personally.

I'm expecting Hso Hao to outright die in the comics, since Ed Boon hates him.

No way Hsu Hao will be playable, but I have to admit, the preview makes him look somewhat cool. Barely.

... Knowing Boon's personal dislike of the character I could see him specifically requesting the comic team to use Hao just so he could be killed by the end of the issue

Really, the only thing Hsu Hao had going for him that could possibly be made cool was the cyborg heart, and Kano's already got that covered.

Hell, just get rid of the entire Red Dragon while you're at it. Can't think of any reason to keep them around.

I'm forced to agree with you. Unless they make Movado more interesting, the RD isn't very cool.

The problem was the Red Dragon were the part of the MASSIVE faction expansion where none of the faction s really got any footing before it ll came crashing down on itself.

You had Seido, The Seido resistance, the Chaos Hordes, Nitara doing her own thing.

I mean it make sense if the Red Dragon were say a cult of Onaga loyalist that fled to Earthrealm and have been scheming to revive the fallen Emperor. This puts them at odds with the Brotherhood of Shadows due to "my god is better then your god" type of deals.

instead We get this weird Factional split between the Black and the Red Dragon -Who might i add have just been the criminal underworld that serves as the earth side connection for the Outworld/Whoever is the biggest villain at the moment. Why did the Black Dragon of all factions need an mirror counter faction... Does Mavado just charge less for killing people?

Yeah they try to give the Red Dragon purpose by connecting them to Daegon and his quest for godhood but that just turns out to be him being yet another Catspaw for Shinnok and the Brotherhood.

I think Seido and the Chaosrealm guys still have a lot of potential, but were victims of the sudden organization pileup.

I think that page is actually live footage of Netherrelm's discussions on who should make the roster. That's just what Ed Boon wears during them.

I thought seido and chaosrealm were boring in execution.

I'd really love to have Havik back, even if they drop the whole "Chaosrealm" concept entirely. I mean, can you even IMAGINE the sorts of X-Rays they could give him, given his entire gimmick is being able to break his own limbs at will?

I know he's a bit of a dark horse but I thought Havik was really lame. He's cool in theory but just ended up dorky and lame.
