I'll Asura

Asura (3.5 points)

  • It's capcom, so it would be hard to get the rights to the character.
  • Has been shown to do rather brutal combat finishers.
  • Has no hesitation to kill, unless it's an innocent who can't fight back.
  • He could have an interesting moveset, but he would need to be made distinct enough to avoid being compared to Goro, Shiva, Motaro, Etc.
  • While his game isn't successful at first, it has garnered a cult following of sorts.

The format is -

  • Can they fight?
  • Are they brutal fighters? (Important - if you honestly can't see them doing something as violent and graphic as Raiden did to that Mayan dude a few pages back, this would be a no.)
  • Would it bother people to see them brutalized in turn? (Again, if you don't think their fans would be fine with watching their eyes electrocuted out of the sockets, only for their head to blown to bits afterward, this is a no.)
  • Are they relevant or popular?
  • Would securing the rights to use them be difficult?

Also, I forgot to mention that Asura has been killed multiuple times throughout the same game. Once by being thrown off a space station into the earth, another being chopped in half by an energy chop.

I remember a poll here that seriously suggested that Knuckles the Echidna should be in a Wii U port of MK 9. Seriously.

I remember that poll as well. There were a bunch of other Sonic characters on there too, along with Goddammit Miru. I assume Miru was the troper who suggested the Sonic characters.

Once I saw how many damn Sonic characters were there in all seriousness, I put Postman Pat there to undermine the whole thing.

Sonic doesn't really work... They'd look out of place to the point of off model

I mean unless the poll had an undertone of throw the Sonic franchise to the meat grinder for 06

It kinda falls apart the moment you look at aethestics and well Sonic isn't really about straight up murdering people

Miru is (was) a troll that rambled on about Sonic characters, so it was a joke.

Nintendo would have to go with like a really obscure character cause there is no way in god's blue earth they are gonna let any of there icons get brutalized.

Hell they might just have a new character ala Khameleon to fix the problem.

The Dark Queen from Battletoads -IE the game that actively tried to murder you- already is dressed ala old school MK standards.

Then again I believe those rights remain with Rare -ah how the mighty fell-

Nintendo's more fitting characters have basically moved on and are owned by other companies now.

What the hell, I'll complete the set here.

  • Armin Arlert (1 point. [lol])
    • Doesn't fight much, despite being in the Survey Corps like his contemporaries Eren and Mikasa. (0)
    • As he's not much of a fighter, it's doubtful he'd have the wherewithal to pull off any type of violence, much less MK level violence (0)
    • Having Sub-Zero rip his spine in half perhaps will be uncomfortable to watch, despite being a major character of Attack on Titan. (0)
    • Something something Ao T being famous, and he's part of the main trio (1)
    • Let this song do the talking... (0)

How about someone who can stand a chance?

  • Filia/Sampson (3 points)
    • Already a fighting game character. (+1)
    • Skullgirls isn't MK violent. That and Filia is a nice girl (Sampson notwithstanding) (0)
    • Filia/Sampson already seen battle, but seeing Sub Zero snap her spine in half can kinda sound uncomfortable too. (+.5)
    • Skullgirls is a cult hit, and Filia is the main protagonist. Emphasis on cult because while it does have a following it's not that huge. (+.5)
    • Lab Zero might be okay with it. (+1)

So we've been seeing which characters would be most fitting for Mortal Kombat, but how would they all play? What would their moves, variations, and Fatalities be like? I'll do one for Bigby Wolf real quick.

Bigby Wolf

  • Moves:
    • Pounce - Bigby pounces forward, and if he lands on his opponent, he claws at their face before getting up and kicking them away
    • Huff and Puff - Bigby blows forward, creating a huge gust of wind that will blow his opponent away
    • Claw Sweep - Bigby does a series of wide slashes with his claws
    • Rush - Bigby, low to the ground, rushes forward to swipe at the opponent's legs with his claws
  • Variations:
    • Big Bad Wolf - This form is distinguished physically by Bigby having glowing yellow eyes, as well as his claws always being out. In this form, all of Bigby's punch attacks will cut the opponent with his claws. Also, he gains the "Growl" move, where he growls intimidatingly to briefly stun the opponent if they're very close to him.
    • Son of the North Wind - This form is distinguished physically by having Bigby's hair and trenchcoat constantly flowing as if he's being affected by a breeze. This adds more wind-based moves, like "Suction," which is like "Huff and Puff" but pulls the opponent towards him, and "Wind Boost," with which Bigby uses wind to propel him forward into a shoulder-charge-like move.
    • Ghost - This form is distinguished physically by Bigby having a cigarette in his mouth, as well as the presence of Ghost. Ghost is one of Bigby's children, and a zephyr, an invisible embodiment of wind who can fly and suck the air from people. Ghost floats behind Bigby, and is only visible as a slight distortion in the air. Bigby can use Ghost in moves like "Ghost Charge," where Ghost flies forward into the opponent, and "Zephyr" where the opponent briefly suffocates as Ghost sucks the air from their lungs.
  • Fatalities:
    • Wolfman - Bigby transforms into his Wolfman form, and uses his claws to messily claw out both eyes of his opponent. As the opponent grasps their face, Bigby sticks his claws into their neck and tears out their throat, throwing it on the ground.
    • Wolf Within - Bigby transforms into his true, original form, a near-elephant-sized Wolf, and picks the opponent up in his mouth, throwing them in the air, then catching them again in his mouth, biting down hard as blood and organs burst from them.

  • Xenomorph (4)
    • incredibly violent creatures designed to kill (+1)
    • posesses no restraint in regards to killing (+1)
    • seeing xenomorphs die is half the point of using them (+1)
    • they are incredibly recognizable/popular creatures on par with predators and most slashers (+1)
    • owned by fox, so not likely (0)

Now that I think about it, there should probably be a sixth requirement:

  • Would their shape break the game? a.k.a. the Motaro Clause

All characters need to be able to have all X-Ray moves and Fatalities used against them. If they're not human-shaped, they're automatically disqualified, because that would require too much effort to execute.

I mention it because the Xenomorph would break the rule. Its elongated head and reversed knees would make it a pain to execute X-Rays on. Not to mention that one of the Fatalities we've had a good view of involves popping the eyes out, and Xenomorphs don't have apparent eyes.

Yeah, the Xenomorph would be too large for the MK style of fighting game. The fatalities and X-rays shown wouldn't be able to be used on a Xenomorph and its moves probably would be very OP with its characteristic speed and power.

Okay, I'll bite, I'll do one of them thingies.

Justin Bieber

  • He can't fight for shit, even if his life depended on it.
  • See point one, he can't fight for shit.
  • I bet many would love to see him brutalized.
  • Unfortunately for us, he is quite relevant still.
  • I think getting the rights would be pretty damn hard.

Verdict: Never Say Never, except this time (2/5)

The Lich

  • I guess he can fight, kind of.
  • He brings death. He can turn people into ash, while they're still alive. He sure as fuck could rip someone's eyeballs out and piss in the gaping hole if he had a bladder. Which he doesn't.
  • I don't think people would be that bothered to see him get murdered, although, how can you murder something that's basically a god?
  • It's Adventure Time, he's relevant as fuck.
  • It's Adventure Time, it's a kid's show, no way in hell would Cartoon Network give it a go.

Verdict: The Power of Liking Someone A Lot (4/5)

Miko Mido

  • Yes, she can fight as well as she can fuck.
  • I guess so? I assume she rather murders someone with sex, though.
  • I don't think people will have a problem seeing her get killed violently.
  • She's not so popular recently, so I guess that's going to be a damper.
  • Getting the rights would be easier than getting her in the game while keeping the game from getting banned everywhere.

Verdict: Almost came (4/5)

Slenderman

  • I take it as a yes, as he can murder.
  • He can murder.
  • I assume seeing him get murdered is basically what scared pussies would love to see.
  • I believe they're going to make a Marble Hornets film, so, I guess he's still relevant?
  • By now the rights of his character are up in the air, but it seems he's fallen under some form of creative commons license, maybe even CC 0.

Verdict: You're fucked either way (5/5)

The Kool-Aid Man

  • Oh yeah! He can knock down walls, so he must be strong enough to destroy your skull.
  • Meh, I actually don't see him running around slaughtering people.
  • Well, to be fair, his fluids are as red as blood, but seeing him get brutalized is kind of a stretch.
  • Is Kool-Aid still relevant? Maybe? I don't know, I don't live in the US.
  • I don't think there's any chance in hell he'd be licensed out to such an IP.

Verdict: Not going to knock down walls this time (1.5/5)

Maxwell

  • Bahahahaha, fight? No way in hell, dude.
  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No.
  • Kekekekekekeke!!! Don't think so.
  • Jajajajajaja!! No wait, he still has games coming out.
  • OLIOLIO! Yeah, I don't think they even want to license him.

Verdict: Scrap that from the notebook (1/5)

T-800

  • He's built to fight humans.
  • He's built to kill humans.
  • He's been destroyed several times.
  • He's going to be in a new film.
  • He's going to be hell getting licensed, although Universal probably would want the extra exposure.

Verdict: I'll be back (5/5)

Mad Max

  • I assume he fights, because...
  • ... I seem to remember he also killed.
  • He's come close to being murdered several times, plus, it fits the character.
  • WB Interactive is going to make a game about him.
  • WB Interactive. They'd want to have as much exposure as possible.

Verdict: [Insert something witty here] (5/5)

Signatures are for lamers.

The Terminator is the character I never realized I always wanted.

As for Slenderman's rights...there's no way he's not public domain. Nobody can possibly claim the rights to him at this point.
