Self-Demonstrating Character Pages

Just created Sandbox.Asuka Langley Soryu.

I know a lot of people here aren't fond of more SD pages, but I asked the mods in particular what I should do and what I'm allowed/not allowed to do with the page and am waiting for a response. I did rely on other tropers' opinions before, and had the page deleted due to most people being opposed to such a page; however, the crowner shows that what other tropers want isn't always in line with what the wiki allows and disallows (since the vast majority of votes were in favor of deleting all SD pages).

You were explicitly told no for that page by 2 mods, one of which being an NGE fan.

I skimmed for Willbyr's answer and didn't see him asking for more than one page, but yeah.

I don't understand what you are talking about. The only crowner I can find shows that the majority want to "Determine which current SD pages need to be deleted, and create rules for future pages" and want to not "Keep all SD pages with no rules".

All other positions are minority positions.

IIRC the majority was for deleting most SD pages, at least by the time a mod stepped in and declared it invalid.

Sorry if I apparently ignored that the previous opinion was given by mods, but I actually didn't know how to identify who was a mod and who wasn't (and still don't). Also sorry if I'm coming across as ignorant and/or an idiot. I'll just leave the namespace alone, which probably means no more of this crap from me.

Only mods post in all red. One of the mods posted in all red when saying no. If they don't post in all red, they are posting as regular users, and their position should be considered that of a normal user.

Note he did not mod hat it, so that was his opinion of it. That's a fair point that it wasn't a direct mod order. That said, no mod really approved of it either and it was better to ask one first since it was met with a lot of annoyance.

There might've been an actual mod hat post I missed, though, when I noted what was said. I dunno. You can certainly discuss it with Willbyr and Fighteer, as the first one cutlisted your page and the second one is saying it shouldn't be made. Why he didn't mod hat it instead of throwing it out in bold, I do not know.

I mean, mod or no, when you asked if it was a good idea, two users unequivocally said no and no one said yes.

Listing Doc Scratch per ATT

Ugh. Seems pretty pointless to me.

Wait, his signature style is using white text? That's not only not a distinct talking style, it's no longer possible on the wiki.

Doc scratch is an iconic character. And I think you have to admit, that is a unique voice.

What is? Speaking in white? Because even if I did agree with that, the fact is that he doesn't even do that on our page.

Name another character who speaks in white text. He's also an "omniscient" "sophisticated" troll.

You're missing the point. Colors aren't allowed on the wiki. His entire page would be "blank" to everyone's eyes(we'd have to give that one page a special background for the white words to even show up). It's not worth enabling a feature that was abused(colors) on the wiki for one character, nor changing the background, again, for one character. This one's purely worth cutting due to messing with how the wiki works. He has his own voice, but it clashes with the wiki rules, and thus, doesn't work.

As a Just for Fun page, we don't need to do extra work for it. Just enough for those who want to enjoy it, but not enough that requires unnecessary coding.

Now see, re-enabling colour in Self Demo namespaces may be something worth asking for - the problems did not occur in that namespace, after all.

We'd have to enable colored backgrounds(so the editors can change them) in order for this page to work, however.

Note my edit. It's not as simple as one feature, but we'd need a second feature to make the white text show up.

If memory serves, there is a "white" colour that does display text only when highlighted. That may be what is needed.

Yeah, that still exists. It looks weird in Night Vision.

Is white text such a distinctive thing though? Is it within the Homestuck universe?

I feel some of you might not know. White text on white background is his thing. You always have to highlight his text.
