Suggestion: Her Code Name Was Mary Sue

This link◊ came up in the page quote thread, but I think it can be made better as an image. I suggest the last panel in the first row, specifically; with the one preceding it, as well, if it isn't clear enough on its own.

It's alright, but just alright...seems a little clunky. That said, I'm not sure that we could do better.

Well, there's the cover to the book◊. Though it really looks more like a 007 homage than anything else.

This trope makes me immediately think of this short story, but there aren't any shots showing the storyteller and her avatar together. Maybe something could be done with panels two and three of page three?

How about top row center panel of this page of that same comic?

That one seems week. I suggest Fry's bad comic in season 6 of Futurama. [1]◊ I'll see of I can get a better screenshot of that later.

I think 6 shows the trope best.

I'd go for something from the first suggestion. Maybe panels 3 and 4 of the second row.

(And bring a quote from the quotes page over to the top of the main page, for style.)

OP suggestion has too much text for my liking. I'm not even sure how the image itself helps to illustrate it.

I like the Doug one just fine.

The trope is "character, who is not a good writer, writes a story where the hero is a thinly-veiled Author Avatar". Great.
