I saw only one example from a post made in 2010. A while ago folks were permitted to edit without signing in. It would give their IP address instead of a handle.
A mod will likely have more info.

I think I noticed this quirk as well a while ago, too; hopefully, a staff member can shed some light on the issue, as mentioned above.

I can see it as well. In fact, I have been seeing IP addresses instead of handles for any discussion page post edit for months, since January at least.

I edited a post on a discussion page recently and noticed it left the message "edited by IP address" instead of my troper name. Is this an accident or intentional?
