I told you she only had two settings.
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.Pssst, Para. \*waggles eyebrows suggestively toward the War of the Magical Girls thread*
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.I will post on the condition that you never wriggle those things again.
I didn't wriggle them this time. I waggled.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.Des: Arl Eamon looks fine to me, and I agree that he and Rick are going to get along swimmingly.
Liver: Seems alright, but... Why would the Apache still be living in a reservation when they're on a completely different planet? That just seems a bit off, if I'm honest - I would prefer you change it. There's nothing wrong with being Apache or anything like that, but there's no reason they would be at all confined to something like a reservation - not this far from Earth and not this far in the future. They might be a semi-autonomous province within Atlantica, or a fully autonomous area functioning as its own state within the Commonwealth - that just happens to be located on Atlantica. The Centauri are no stranger to confusing titles, after all. Faux can give you suggestions for culturally appropriate location names, being our resident language nerd.
What if I just changed it to a "preservation" instead of a "reservation." It's its own state of Apache descendents who wish to live together and preserve their heritage. Would that work?
The idea is more that we're aiming to be a bit more optimistic with Cultures and avoiding having any at the extent where they need a preserve. On that note, Hydrall has summoned me to come up with a plausible Apache name.
Sadly, it's really hard to find ressources on the language online, but what I've found in that time is pretty interesting; it's a highly inflecting language and placenames tend to be very descriptive! On that note, I'd suggest the name;
Túgaiyaalíné.
It'd come out in English as roughly "White River" but literally translates to something like Water-White-Flows-Continuously-Place.
Mind this is with about 30 minutes of research; if you know anything about the Apache language you might know better, but this is sort of the general idea of what we're going for; I've written up Dowanegael rather than "The Irish language preservation colony" since the idea is that these languages have been revived and in a thousand years are strong enough to stend on their own.
Thank you for taking the time to research that. Unfortunately, my knowledge on the Apache language is as good of yours but "White River" sounds good to me. If I can edit that into my signup, am I good to go?
He seems a bit rough around the edges; a lot of the sign up is focused on how he reacts to bullies. To be honest, it seems a little volatile. And while not a lot of serious bullying goes on Centside, Fergus has chewed someone out for risking her life and Mira has some Tsundere stuff with Rick, both of which would be awkward if they set Sam off. If they don't, then it seems like an inordinate amount of attention in the sign up sheet for what should hopefully not come up in game.
That said you have Hydrall's approval outside of the name change, but I'd definitely recommend caution here. I can get behind a character who tries to be a protective Big Brother to the crew but I'd be wary of any characters who were just waiting to lash out on the first thing they percieve as bullying.
That's about it. Maybe worth noting that these pursuits your character does would definitely seem somewhat unsophisticated to the relatively Aristocratic Centauri but your character isn't alone there necessarily. Still, you should be aware that "Manly" Centauri activity amongst Knights and other well-to-do Cents consists more of Fox Hunting, Fencing and Wine Drinking than Shooting and Beer drinking.

I'll keep those things in mind. I changed the place name. Am I good to start posting in the main thread now?
Hydrall will likely write you and Des in as transfers very shortly.
- Name: Rena Steiner
- Callsign/Title: October Employee of the Month
- Faction and Rank: Federation, (Former) Ace
- Gender: Female
- Age: 32
- Appearance: Average height, with offensively curly ginger hair and heavily tan skin. Naturally, she also has a face full of freckles, green eyes, and a nose. She also appeared in *Mythril Aces: Aeris Gaiden*.
- Personality: Somewhat hardworking and occasionally serious. Her less-than-enthusiastic approach to given tasks had led to her holding the station record for the most jobs lost since arrival. Despite this, she is highly competent when she puts her mind to something, but does her best to avoid her superiors finding out.
- Backstory: Born at the ripe old age of 0 on the planet of Midgar, Rena had very little interest in anything outside of ancient poetry as a child, spending hours upon hours memorizing the great masters of antiquity, such as Yeats, Cohen, and McGonagall. After a fairly uneventful childhood, in which she spent her days attending class, making average grades, and progressing ever steadily, she found herself in Midgar University (Go to Hell, Yokolit!), longing for something less boring.
She soon found it when she went to visit her cousin Yasan Goebels, who had been a captain in the Federation military at the time. Her brief adventures with him and his friends inspired her to seek something greater in life, and she changed her major from poetry to chemical engineering.
Unfortunately, this was both incredibly difficult and incredibly boring. Wanting neither to disappoint her parents nor to actually be a chemical engineer, she spent the next seven years of her life prolonging her college avoidance of education, finally dropping out at the age of 29. For the next few years, she joined her cousin at his bar, enjoying the company of old friends and sharing good memories. After running up a frighteningly large gambling debt, she quietly slipped away, telling Yasan to report her as dead to anyone that asked.
Wandering the streets of Midgar, she happened upon a tattered recruiting poster for the last war, urging her to do her part for the war effort. After tossing it aside with a snort, she picked up the classified section underneath it, and made her way over to the nearest Pizza Hutt to apply. She was hired shortly after and reassigned to the Yaksha Station. She was let go shortly after, but had neither the desire nor funds to make her way back to Midgar. Instead, she applied for another job, and has now become the all-purpose menial tasks worker.
- How you became a knight/ace: Reba Sheiner was a young, up-and-coming soldier who had acted with great courage and commendable wisdom during a particularly nasty firefight on [Planet]. Impressed by her skills and leadership potential, she was swiftly promoted to directly to Lieutenant, and showered with honors.
Unfortunately, due to a clerical error, Sheiner never saw any of this. Instead, one Rena Steiner received a lavish party, a check for a large amount of money, and several handshakes from notable figures. Before she could so much as touch her free giant death machine, the error was discovered, the check voided, and the expenses taken out of her pay. Even more unfortunately for Sheiner, it was discovered that she had been killed in battle while the party in her honor was ongoing. She was posthumously promoted and given a quiet funeral.
- Frame Name: Hamstermobile
- Frame Model: Tadakashi "Rabbit" Rider (Terrestrial vehicle)
- Weapons Loadout: Irate driver, switchblade in glovebox
- Appearance: Grey paint job, with a winged pizza painted on the back.

I am become Death, Destroyer of Miniputts....
I hope your bacon always burns.
Guys, did I miss something?
"And then the dead man of the dead did dead things to all the dead people."-Two Best Friends Play Dark SoulsRena is playing a minor character from Aeris Gaiden that came about when I posted drunk and used his name in character.
Rena at the time was a young college age woman who mostly was there to mock the (in character) drunken P Cs and cover my ass for a typo.
She mocked the OOC drunk PC's, too.
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.I know for a fact that at least a few of the P Cs were sober. Sadly.

I was working a 24/7 summer job at the time, okay?
I am become Death, Destroyer of Miniputts.
Good luck finding a full bottle with Fergus on board, Des.
