So I got a Contrary Serperior. Especially when the computer does something stupid like forgetting about Contrary - see, pokemon using Screech and raising Serperior's Defence two stages.

The only problem I'm having is the limited move pool. If it could get Dragon Pulse, that would be awesome, but I'm not seeing that.

I need a complimentary defensive pokemon. I was thinking about Carbink. However, I am not sure about it.

Serperior does get Dragon Pulse, actually - it's a tutor move (which in ORAS means you'll need to have some BP on you). Unfortunately, that is about the limit of Serperior's special coverage outside of Hidden Power.

I wish you could change Hidden Power's type by bringing the mon and the desired type's plate to some guru or anything.

Serperior is a scary motherfucker; I've 6-0'd teams with it. It doesn't really need a lot of coverage since it gets more powerful by spamming a base power 130 STAB attack, and once it gets to +6 it can kill just about anything with a neutral hit and some Stealth Rock damage.

I love using contrary serperior, but that limited movepool and rubbish typing is a bitch. It ploughs through anything it can hit of neutral damage, but anything with a super effective move just kills it.

Maybe Baton Pass some defensive buffs onto it? Like Stockpile or Cosmic Power or something.

Don't try to tank hits, save it for lategame when everything that threatens it is dead or weak enough to plow through.

I hatched an Adamant female Phanpy with outstanding Potential with perfect HP and Attack stats. Any other stats except special attack were around 20s. Who wants Emile the Phanpy?

Personally,I support Serperior and Malamar with a Prankster debuffer.Prefferably Whimsicott.(spelling)

I added a Contrary Serperior (Her name's Parsley!) to my Grass monoteam. I also have a Whimsicott, so hey, that's good advice.

How were you able to change her name? I took my Contrary Serperior to the Nickname guy in Slateport and he refused to change it.

On the subject of breeding, how do I breed my aforementioned Serperior in order to get a baby Snivy? Everything I tried just gave me a baby version of the other Pokemon. (I now have two Kecleons and a Leaf Bomb-knowing Shroomish.)

Assuming you're in Gen VI...

If you have a male Serperior the only way to get a Snivy is with a Ditto or another member of the Snivy line. If you're trying to pass on that Serperior's ability you'll need a Snivy line member that also has Contrary, or a Ditto.

So basically just get a Ditto. If you breed a female Snivy with Contrary, you can start using that one to pass it on through breeding with other Pokemon.

Well, I just caught a Ditto on a Mirage Island, so...this works out.

If you have a Gen V game, you can manipulate the RNG to find a 6-IV Ditto for breeding purposes like I did.

If you have a Power Save, you'll never have to deal with breeding-related RNG bullshit again.

Well, I put that Ditto in the Daycare with my Serperior and now I have a whole gaggle of Snivies. Not all of them know Contrary though, some just know Overgrow. Should I even bother trying to trade those Snivies with people?

Some people will probably want them for Pokedex completion. If there's anything like medium-rarity you want, you could put them on the GTS with a request.

If there's any starter pokemon you don't have you can swap a snivy for it usually. Otherwise they aren't much use.
