The DCEU Wonder Woman also has heels and also has been criticized for the same reason. Appeal to Worse Problems is diverting attention to a different topic altogether ie "Is this the most important thing to be talking about with an election going on?"
Since the complaint is NOT about how heels on the female costumes are endemic to the franchise, it is implying heels on a superhero costume in general are a bad thing. I am pointing out that it is probably more for simple gender deviation than straight fanservice. I am not saying I approve of women wearing heels into a fight, only that I feel they are on the very low spectrum of sexist costuming design. As Cruherrx brought up, the female director of the Wonder Woman movie said that she wanted her to look sexy, powerful and be feminine wish fulfillment, and for her that means Shes Got Legs. Heels don't just exaggerate height in general but also the length of their legs. And in her action scenes the absolute last thing I am thinking about is that her heels are impractical (unlike, say, Jurassic World) mostly because they look more like boots with a little bit of lift and aren't stilettos. The heels on the female rangers look similar.
Female sculpted Ranger armor, whether it be a battlizer (which are more often huge blocks of armor and weapons, not with sculpted pectorals) or the Samurai mega mode, is rather rare, but the point is there is a precedence.
Literally one (Well 2 Pink and Yellow), the Mega Mode :-P And still not sure how much of a Boob Pate it even is. Like, is so subdued it's barely visible.
I think the main talk needs to be the clear discrimination in the attribution of power ups to Female Rangers.
To be fair, how much is that due coz you're a guy and thus have likely not thought about the boots ' heels coz you've never worn boots with high heels and have had to think about how it changes how you walk?
Like, you compare to Jurassic World, but Jurassic World makes itself worst by A) Bringing up the heels in conversation, and B) Focus on them while she's running.
If Wonder Woman does neither of those thing, of course you might not think about it. Doubly so as a guy whose familiarity with high heels is lower.

Well frankly, 90 percent of movies and TV shows is done in medium shots, where the feet aren't seen. With Power Rangers especially, any long shots are typically action scenes where you may miss exactly what are on their feet (Cyclops in the X-Men movies typically wore boots with 4 inch soles so he would be taller than Wolverine, you can see it in one wide shot). I'm actually surprised the focus is being put on the heels rather than the sculpted breasts, since those are more prominently seen (being closer to the windows of the soul).
The MMPR movie had the women with sculpted armor too. Also it is just plain rare for sculpted armor for the rangers in general, but that is talking about just the rangers. The list would implode if we talk about any woman in PR or Sentai with armor like that.

Female villains being sexier than female heroes is also a common trope. It has to do the with cultural demonization of sexuality in general and female sexuality in particular. If a female character takes it so far as to even be sexually aggressive, she'll usually be revealed to be evil, killed off, or both by the end of the story.
No, that is looking for something to complain about. Inventing secret ulterior motives to dismiss criticisms you don't like is grasping at straws for a reason to complain about the complaint.
FWIW, I just noticed the heels because I was examining the Ranger suits and comparing them to the picture of the Rex Dinozord toy to get a feel for how the color palette may have changed. But by all means, don't let facts get in the way of conspiracy theories about my motives.
...huh, sure enough. Must've forgotten.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.To not bog the thread down with this discussion, I'll just exit out of it.
Funnily enough, I initially remembered it for the thong, but then I remembered it for being "that battlizer that was completely useless 3 episodes after it debuted and needed to be replaced by SWAT mode".
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."I thought SWAT Mode was the Battlizer.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I thought SWAT mode came before the Battlizer.
My various fanfics. To be fair, A Team had S.W.A.T. Mode basically installed in the first place. It technically debuted far earlier on. Just not for B Team.
That said, it is sad that they completely invalidates the Battlizer really quickly during S.P.D. Regardless of its design, Battlizers were pretty notable tools. Thankfully other seasons made them more meaningful, even if they weren't always effective. Ninja Storm's got knocked out by Lothor in one shot, for instance. And Mystic Force's got rarely used, even if it was very effective. At least it didn't get replaced really quickly.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.My issues with the Battilizer are a) the Reds rarely put any effort into unlocking them (look at how the Battilizer is unlocked in Space for instance and b) it damages the team dynamic by promoting one Ranger above the rest.
Some require actual effort to get. In Space didn't bother, but Leo had to earn it in Lost Galaxy. Lightspeed Rescue required a ton of practice, and he still had to get it right when it really counted. Time Force required a full out duel to earn it. Wild Force I cannot fully remember, but I don't think he actually much earned that one so far as being given it. Ninja Storm definitely required effort to get. Dino Thunder definitely showed him earning it. S.P.D. not so much. Mystic Force felt like it... happened. Operation Overdrive had a full episode dedicated to getting it properly. Samurai's issue was that we don't see any effort for Super Samurai Mode on the regular Rangers' parts, it's just Gold that worked endlessly on it. Dino Charge's of course happened cause they were given it, like every other power-up, due to how the specific season worked.
I do agree with the other statement, but many of them were very much earned.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Pfft, earning it. It's a battle between good and evil for the fate of [Insert place here]. I say give them all battlizers.
This is why I really like the Lightspeed Rescue rangers. None of that "don't escalate" stuff. They just immediately start shooting their blasters, and any time the Super Train megazord got called in was overkill.

"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Leo didn't earn his Battilizer, Karone did all the work and he reaped the reward. Wild Force had the other Rangers solve some kind of puzzle to unlock it. Connor basically screamed like he was constipated and unlocked the power ala DBZ. And Shane's Battilizer was unlocked by a female alien dying and giving him his powers. Yeah PR actually used women in refrigerators as a source of a power up once. I agree with you on Wes and Carter but that's about it.
Even Lightspeed Rescue had that problem. The Red, Blue and Green Rangers got special armor but not the girls and the sixth Ranger. You'd think Commander Mitchell would want all the Rangers properly equipped especially given two of them were his kids.

I thought all of them got "megabattles". Guess my memory was wrong.
Weird that the two girl rangers didn't get them. Understandable why the Titanium Ranger didn't (budget).
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."The Battlizer is an American creation, including the toy, so just the act of designing the suit, making the toy and filming original action sequences with it is expensive. I believe Lightspeed Rescue was the only series to give a Battlizer to more than just the Red Ranger, and I know one episode had the red ranger give his handheld weapons to the girls so they could participate in an overkill attack with all 5 of them.
Sentai more often then not gives the entire team one uniform power-up (but slightly less impressive) that also gets translated into PR like the Lights of Orion or SWAT mode.
Mega Battles are definitely not battlizers. They're entirely different things. Albeit, it's pretty much used as an excuse to give someone other than the Red Ranger a power-up. And Connor didn't suddenly get it either. Yeah, he did earn it. He had to prove he could use it. He got it through character development. He himself didn't gain the Triassic Shield, though, that required all 5 Rangers. That one was a bit of an issue because it invalidated the other 4. It also doesn't help that the White Ranger's power was so immense that the other 4 Rangers barely felt needed. Fair point on Leo, but the Battlizer was still earned, just not by him specifically. It was just a (albeit dumb) tradition of only Red Rangers being given Battlizers. Note that S.P.D. slightly changed it up by allowing Sky to use it, but he donned Red temporarily too. He became Red wayyyyyyy later on, so it could be subtle foreshadowing.
I agree with the issue of basically using females to be thrown under just for a male Ranger to gain power. This also came up in Samurai, when the Beetlezord was going to be given to one female Ranger. Nope, she couldn't get it down, so the one related to the Forest powers got it(not that his powers didn't match, don't get me wrong). Only the male Rangers got more than one zord in that season. At least the true Battlizer, Super Samurai Mode, was available to all but the Gold Ranger.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol. What were Mega Battles again?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Check out this link. Megabattles are basically the handful of non-Red Ranger Battlizers, two for Lightspeed Rescue (Green and Blue) and one for Time Force (Quantum Ranger). Like I said, group-wide power-ups like SWAT mode and Lights of Orion are based on Sentai and not considered Battlizers, typically lacking in wings, heavy weapons and armor that characterize a more toyetic Battlizer. It isn't until recently that Sentai has included similar exclusive upgrades.
[1] These better not be what I think they are.
$100? Seems a mite expensive. Even my Chogokin Megazord was $70, and that's metal.
I... kinda like it? It looks like a guy in a suit, sort of, which is of course what everything is in PR/Sentai.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."The design is neat, but it feels too much like a villain design.
The toy looks better, but also doesn't look like a real combination of parts.
I guess some expected it to be similar to the original Megazord, but it's clearly quite unique.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.The toy looks better, the other really doesn't look like anything combined to form it.
I feel like the first toy is incompletely painted.
The second one with all the colors will probably be what we get when "Go Go Power Rangers" pumps through the speakers.
I like the Samurai mega modes and Super Samurai modes (With the white coats). Shogun Mode is so dumb it sort of circles back into being awesome again.
Most Battlizers looked ridiculour. Remember SPD's thong of justice? Or The ones with Skis for no reason... Geez.
He's known that for months, what do you mean "Just"? That was when the costumes were first released.
Anyway, we had this entire discussion already :-P
