When you think about it, it is still a sin on the movie's end regardless of how well the book explains it. An adaptation should be able to stand on it's own.
They explicitly state that they don't count the source material when sinning a film. They believe that it should stand on its own without requiring external knowledge.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The books never matter. Seriously, did you not notice in the previous harry potter sins videos the giant "THE BOOKS DONT MATTER" at the top.
And they are right. If your film needs a book to make sense, then you fail as a film maker
And they do read the books, just deliberately exclude them from the sin counting process.
That said, I think they really should have taken the instruction manual for Battleship into consideration. It enhances the movie so much.
The comments are going crazy pointing out that Mythbusters demonstrated that the tux-under-wetsuit thing is possible.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Here is their latest sins video:
OMG that sounds like a terrible movie...
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"After Earf, such a horrible movie.
Took a gander after going a while without watching sins videos. I was not disappointed. :D
but HOW?I liked him at first but then I noticed that A LOT of his sins ARE explained in the film and some of them seem like stupid complaints. Some of them felt like complaining that a musical has singing. : / He has good points some times but its marred by really stupid comments some times.
Remember, the whole point is that he's nitpicking and calling out clichés and pet peeves for the sake of humor. He's sinned his favorite movies as well as the worst movies in the world.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"He loved Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but that didn't stop it from being today's video.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Overtaking Goldfinger (1964) as the oldest movie they've sinned, and in honour of the live-action remake, we have Cinderella (1950):
"This shoe thing is bullshit! All they had to do was find the ONE BLONDE GIRL in the entire kingdom!"
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I lost it at the needle stabbing joke.
Uploaded today, we have Finding Nemo:
...Anglerfish isn't as scary as it was when I was a kid.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!I wonder if they used Jaden Smith's actual accent in the movie? I hope not, he sounded...weird.
He comes right out and says in the description that he loves this movie, yet I can't help but agree with most of those sins. Like, how exactly do those goggles get from where they fall out of the boat to where Dory and Marlin find them? And how is it that the fish and birds can understand, speak, and read English but no human can hear them talk?
And, for the biology pedants, whales don't have uvulas and clownfish are hermaphrodites.
That said, I do have one minor quibble: Mr. Ray gets to the Drop-Off way ahead of Marlin because he swims a lot faster, unless he thinks we're supposed to believe that a manta ray and a clownfish swim at the same speed.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The English mostly results from Translation Convention.
This is a signature. That's true of so many works though. Like, 101 Dalmatians, no one reacts to the dogs talking like one would with a group of dogs all barking at one another, EXCEPT when the dogs bark. Etc...
Well, fine, but Nigel is clearly talking audibly to the Tank Gang from the dentist's window. Even if he's speaking "animal", the dentist would have to be clinically deaf not to notice something going on.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
That's something that annoyed me during the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video, where they brought up a bunch of sins that wouldn't have been given if you'd read the books.
