Duel 76. AND ACTION!

• Looks like Jean's breaking down. Once he sees the Obelisk Force marching in the streets, he's gonna have a riot. And he will, since Dennis got sent home despite his efforts. Hahaha...
• Kinda surprised that the security forces were wearing mind-control hats this whole time. Then again, it's something Jean would do.
• Sergey got his game face on. Creepy.
• OP is mediocre, ED is nice, and I really don't see Yuuri as the peaceful kind of guy.

I am definitely not liking the sounds of this Beauty of Destruction episode. We might end up seeing the Melodious monsters getting tortured by the Thorn Prisoners after Sergey's quite finished weaponizing Yuzu's sympathy.

And considering that smile, despite being an undead cyborg, you can tell none of the sadomasochistic lunatic left him.

Yeah, I was dreading that already and you are just making it worse.

I mean, it was one thing when Yami Marik tortured Joey, but to include a torture duel where the person being hit with it is a girl...

I...think closing your eyes while watching certain parts might not be advisable.

Still, these Thorn Prisoners better be Water or Earth \ Fiend and not another Dark \ Fiend archetype.

Episode 77:

Well, fuck you writers.

That was a disturbing episode.

Sergey is a disturbing character.

Even putting aside the ending, Zombie 4Kids are certainly going to have fun with this episode.

... did they get Christian Grey to write this episode?

I know at least 1 Yuzu hater off this site that's absolutely pleased at what happened to her.

I know a guy on youtube called Jose Garcia, who makes yugioh amvs.

I'm calling it, this duel will be set to Pain, by 3 Days Grace.

This could have been so much worse.

The only song I want associated with Sergei is Animals by Maroon5. He gets Adam Levine's screechy vocals.

Because I am a horrible person I am compelled to ask; how could it have been worse?

Well, 4kids replaced the head vises of Viser Death / Des with Plasma Eel, which was a horrible biomechanical electric eel who instead of tightening on Joey's monsters, tightened and electrocuted them.

They also let Aki have some of her more disturbing effects, particularly Black Garden, which was basically Zuma's effect whenever a monster is summoned.

I think its safe to say Episode 77 will be getting a dub, though perhaps with a reduced number of thorns. After this I will never look at thorns the same way again.

4kids didn't make Viser Des into Plasma Eel, that was in the original Japanese. Sometimes the anime would censor stuff from the manga.

Oh, I thought that was the case, my error.

Still, plasma eel shows they aren't afraid of some disgusting material.

And because Episode 77 did not have enough nightmarish material, apparently, I added some...new members to the Thorn Prisoners in the Create a Card thread.

I mean, that episode was really really good, but...what?

The result of the duel was predictable enough, but the sheer brutality of that OTK as well as the sounds that those monsters and Sergey made and the moaning and grunting and...

Anyone who thought they'd never see anything this brutal in a childrens card game show, raise their hands and say "I". I.

In any case, a solid episode, though I'm surprised how much they got away with on this. Especially for children's television.

Hence why I look forward to the Thorn Prisoners English release \ DN release.

Thorn Prisoners - the make your opponent tremendously uncomfortable archetype. If the opponent ain't asking "what the fuck man, seriously", you're playing them wrong.

So, two major problems here.

Did anyone watch Sergey's last duel? Did he literally use zero Thorn Prisoners last time? How the flying fuck did no one see the OTK coming? And why has nobody yet learned that, if someone summons a monster with 0 ATK in DEF mode, it's for a very good reason?

This duel also pretty much encapsulates why I hate Action and Riding Duels, especially together. Apparently it's okay to murder your opponent in cold blood, in broad daylight, with thousands of witnesses, but you better make damn sure you do it with your winning move. Don't wanna risk disqualification or anything. I honestly just want to see the Synchro Dimension burn, now.

Yuzu didn't just get destroyed, she got obliterated.

I'm fairly certain that we've seen that before in other series, where apparently the big bad KO's an opponent and no one else watching knows how they did it. My memory could be failing me, however.

I think in the last duel, Sergey probably did all what he did when he and Damon were out of sight.

Which is even weirder considering how slow Thorn Prisoners operate.

...I do not think we have seen all the members of this archetype.

So guys, about Yuya's "Berserk Mode", should we be calling it "Enlightened Mode"? [1]◊

The interview from Director Ono, mentions "awakened" Yuya which has the same kanji as Enlightenment Paladin's "Enlightenment" part.
