I don't really think Dr. Claw belongs here. Unless I am mis-reading it, this is for people, creatures, and things that are never shown because they are horrifying; and it would have been either a bitch or impossible to get something that could live up to that status.

What story is the Doc Samson entry referring to?

Radda radda.

[up]Sorry. I dunno.

What about the Hellish Abyss from Fatal Frame? It's a gaping hole. So evil that if you look into it, you go blind.

I dunno if that counts or whatever but it looks cool.

It is what it is.

I don't like to repeat points already made, but many comments on this thread seem to be missing the point that the trope is about something THAT IS NEVER SEEN. That's what any image should look like, not as evil as possible. It just goes to show the trope title doesn't work, but anyhow. I agree that the current image works because it's vaguely ominous and because I have no idea what it is, really — and the latter is more important. I don't think a picture of someone who isn't normally seen would work either, because the picture would not illustrate that.

That's why I suggested Dr. Claw. He was never seen in the show (Expanded Universe is another story). He had a demonic voice, metal arm, and a Right-Hand Cat, and that's all we know about him.

What about just a black square? Or even better, what about an image that says the image can't be seen? Or like that little box that says the image can't be found.

I still say Dr. Claw doesn't count. He isn't meant to be horrifying, just the unseen. Just because he is the ultimate evil of his show doesn't mean he is Ultimate Evil. I should scrub that example.

I agree with Offensive Handle. There's more to this trope than just being He Who Must Not Be Seen and being the Big Bad, and Dr. Claw doesn't qualify.

Well, then we should probably try something like the one on Nightmare Face, or.

Perhaps something along the lines of the page image for Nightmare Face? We never see the face, but it is implied to be horrifying.
