Digital Devil Summon Tournament -Sign Ups and Interest-

The year is 2019.

One day, a bizarre new game and "sport" became in vogue. Downloaded from the internet, Digital Demon Battle is a sport where individuals summon, trade, and train monsters, demons, and even creatures of myth, for battle or even simply to collect a set of them.

Sent about by an individual who only identifies herself as "Ishtar", the game has boomed in popularity, and tournaments are made for individuals to do battle with their summoned creatures.

However, as the Qualifiers for the Regionals approach, a sinister shadow begins to loom over the tournaments. Throughout the Ikebukuro Region of Tokyo, where the sport is strongest in Japan, there have been numerous murders by an individual who most say resembles a person dressed in black Samurai armor, who will then seize his victim's Summons, after defeating them.

You are a member of the Mystery Investigation Club of Korezou High School, and you want to find out just what the meaning of all of this is...

If you cannot tell, this is an RP based on Shin Megami Tensei and slightly influenced by the plot of Persona 4. You will be following a mystery, and a slowly broadening plot. No ending is set in stone, and you never know what results your actions may have down the line.

Here's my character.

• Name: Yuya Getsurei
• Age: 16
• Gender: male
• Appearance: A rather tall and muscular young man, he has dyed his hair blond (and spiked it up a bit with copious hair gel) to try to look more intimidating and like a delinquent, which, due to his personality evident even in his kind blue eyes, fails utterly. He always carries around his Invocation device, which is one of the earliest models, a large device that looks like an old phone. He wears the school uniform for boys, which looks like a military uniform of some kind, though he wears the jacket open rather than zipped up, giving the appearance of a long coat.
• Personality: Yuya puts on a pretty tough facade, acting like the standoffish rival type most of the time in order to make it seem like picking on him or his friends is a bad idea. And given he's studied some martial arts and has a kind of personality where he just won't stay down, that's usually quite a bad idea anyway. While he projects that front to others, to his friends, he is incredibly warm and a bit of a pushover who'll do basically anything asked of him if asked nicely enough. He is very media wise, and carries his cell phone with him at all times, purely to use an App to record and post his winnings in Summon Battles. He is rather proud of his abilities with his current roster, only losing once, and that is to his Aloof Big Brother. It is mentioned he is a fan of games rather like the Shin Megami Tensei series, enough that he is suspicious of anyone from employees of the government to the hall monitor. It is really not very difficult to get Yuya fired up for a battle, and even if things get weird and existential, he won't hesitate to strike at people who attack his friends.
• Summons:
  • "Mekimura": A special Summon that was handed out in the third download series, not many still have it, due to the fact its skills are cripplingly specialized in favor of physical skills whose effectiveness varies based on the position and fullness of the moon. Yuya still uses it to prove...something. Resembles a red and black armored samurai with two will o the wisps hanging around near him.
  • Rakshasa, a dark spirit who causes wretched events and mischief in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Wields twin swords, and is called the Rasetsu in Japanese mythology. Clad in red armor. Anyone else seeing a motif here?
• Bio: Growing up in a single parent household, the brilliant older brother Touya had to take care of his often rambunctious younger brother Yuya. Yuya rebels almost instinctively against Touya's instructions...though by now Touya's learned how to phrase things to make Yuya run along. Touya feels uneasy about his little brother's interest in these battles, and worries he is neglecting his school work for it, though there is more to it than that.

• Name: Razan Outakara
• Age: 16
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: A svelte young man with brown eyes and dark brown hair. The bangs fall over his right eye. He wears a long black jacket that's always unbuttoned, with a white shirt and a pair of jeans underneath. He has a sleek newer model of the Invocation device that resembles a smartphone.
• Personality: Easily bored, and a instigator/agent of chaos. Razan is affable, capricious and fickle, moving from one motivation to the next in no time. The only thing he takes seriously is his duty as a paranormal blogger. He's more interested in the occult than other human beings, and he's not ashamed to admit that.
• Summons:
  • Lilim: A seductive demon sired by Lillith and Samael.
  • Kobold: A dog-man with brutal strength and a crude mind
• Bio: Razan grew up in a bog-standard Ikebukuro household. The tedium and routine of life drove Razan up the wall and drove him to seek excitement in the strange and unusual. Naturally, the occult background appealed to Razan and he began playing it as often as he could when he wasn't looking into paranormal phenomena.

More World-Building Stuff:

• The Tournament Staff: Heading the Tournament Regional Staff is Uriel Godwin, the stern and rather stoic member of the Council of the World Cup called "The Archangel Council" by the players due to their names, Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel. They have a member who handles the press and public relations named "Mastema". Reportedly, they're avid players themselves, and use unique, high level Summons.

• The Black Samurai: Encouraging people to rebel against Japan's rigid social norms one moment and slaughtering Players the next, it seems the Black Samurai, despite Yuya's expectations of her, is a strange figure with motives that appear to be outright contradictory most times, though there is apparently some pattern used. Black Samurai has a number of posters featuring her that say that she is most wanted and that she's very dangerous, but she only has her game and some books.

• Night District: A strange place that they say rebellious youth visit - it is a "hidden" district of Tokyo wherein people can go to "release their inhibitions and hidden selves". It is led by a woman from the West called "Lady Tia", who is represented by a large number of masked women who claim to be her. The Night District is viewed with contempt by adults, who see it as a lawless place where drugs are probably peddled. There are no conventional drugs, but rather, a strange blue liquid called Azure, which seems to help with concentration and awareness, and is a dark secret of some portions of elites of the Summon Tournament.

• Name: Ryoto Suzuki
• Age: 17
• Gender: male
• Appearance: Ryoto is a rather tall, markedly handsome young man with neatly combed black hair and dark blue eyes, wearing his school uniform impeccably, giving the distinct appearance of someone well-to-do. Ryoto has a well trained, muscular form to him. He wears a special gauntlet that appears to allow him to scan the Summoned Demons of his opponents, which resembles a white armored gauntlet with a screen on the lower wrist.
• Personality: You would never have guessed that Ryoto was once one of the weaker, smaller kids at the school - Yuya often had to step in and protect him, a fact that Ryoto now seems to regard as something he needs to repay. Being that he is one of the strongest of the Summon Battlers at the school, he has a deal of pride in that fact, but he's not the type to let his pride distract him. He has a healthy respect for the rules, and tries to act to ensure Yuya doesn't get himself into too much trouble. He seems mostly oblivious to the fact he's a magnet for female attention, much to many people's consternation. He is the type that prioritizes rule of law over rule of tradition, and is often utterly frustrated by his family's traditional ways.
• Summons:
  • Satan The Accuser: As a show of his capacity as one of the highest ranked battlers, he possesses the "Judge Jury and Executioner", though there might well be more to his use of this creature than is evident...
  • Power: One of the lesser Angels, it is probable he's trying to make this Power evolve through battle into a higher ranked Angel.
  • Archangel: The same story with his Archangel.
• Bio: Ryoto Suzuki is the son of a rather infamous Corrupt Corporate Executive, and despite this, his family is highly traditional. To the extent that some things are swept under the rug, such as what happened with Ryoto's sister...well, at any rate, Ryoto carefully hides the fact that he detests his family. There is some sort of event in the past where Ryoto went from a weak-willed child to someone more strong-willed. Whatever it was, Yuya and he got along better after it.
• Other: The chief fangirl of the "Suzuki Club" is Makie Nisui, daughter of a local reporter.

• Name: "Mikh"
• Age: he looks about 16
• Gender: male
• Appearance: He looks extremely androgynous, with a number of masculine and feminine characteristics, though it is very apparent that Mikh identifies as male. He has blond hair styled into a mullet he absolutely refuses to get rid of, strange, slightly too bright blue eyes, and he shows a preference for suits and ties, though he often puts on the tie wrong. Some people have claimed to have seen Mikh with a pair of big white angel wings...probably just an urban myth.
• Personality: Mikh is much too open and naive, outright being unafraid of telling people that he's an angel of some sort, though definitely not a high class one. He's something of a fish out of water, being curious and outgoing in regards to the world around him. Despite this, he managed to pass himself off as some sort of eccentric and now acts as a "friend" of Yuya and Ryoto, specifically, being the manager of Yuya's team and the "messenger" for Ryoto's. As an Angel, he is definitely a Law aligned being, with an emphasis, though, on making sure the Laws are applied equally to everyone, and that there are no exceptions for people based on social status or political affluence.
• Summons: Mikh may not play the game himself, but he can actually engage in battle himself - he seems capable of both Bufu and Dia.
• Bio: He claims he was sent down here to "send a message" to someone, but also to watch Earth and "execute any plan you see as Good and Lawful in your conscience". He's not very used to improvising in such a way, and even today, its apparent he's still not very used to some customs.

Neat. I've always wanted to try one of these, and if it's Mega Ten themed, all the better.

• Name: Hibiki Hiikaze
• Age: 16
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: A short, unassuming boy who has a pair of dark, mystic brown eyes. His main outfit consists of a pair or grey jeans, a black pea coat with the hood of a teal hoodie pointing out of it. His Invocation device resembles an outdated black slide-up phone.
• Personality: Quiet and unassuming, yet observant and soft-spoken. A bit of a daydreamer, Hiikaze’s more than content to sit and watch an event fold rather than take part in it. He knows when to get serious though. Carries a lot of knowledge due to his self-imposed observer role.
• Summons:
  • Baphomet, a demonic, goat-headed idol worshiped by the Knights Templar. Much like his master, a quiet individual who likes to watch more than fight.
• Bio: Coming from a large family in the heart of Tokyo, Hibiki was a middle child in his family to younger sister Chiaki (13) and older sisters Rin (19) and Homura (21). Most of his time growing up was spent in his room, learning about whatever he could however he could. It seemed like only a matter of time before his knowledge extended into the occult and paranormal.

• Name: Masui Gedoku
• Age: 22
• Gender: male
• Appearance:strong and imposing. A bit fat, but but not without muscle. Always look kind of tired. Usually wears loose clothing that doesn't stand out.
• Personality: His motto is do no harm, but take no shit. Of course, beating someone in a game isn't really harm according to him. He's also got a short temper and doesn't know his limitations well.
• Summons: A baku that lacks offensive capability but can help allies into a restorative sleep (or use the same technique to leave enemies open to attack)

  • Artio, a bear godess connected to harvests and, well, bears.

• Bio: Used to play rugby,but had to stop after he got liver failure several months ago. Now he vents his frustration by playing digital demon battle. It's less effective then he'd like.

I think I'd like a bit more detail.

For rp's like this I usually like to keep details light at the start so they can evolve naturally. I could make up small things on the side but they'd be unimportant details on the side and not actually flesh out the character. What exactly are you looking for extra?

I know that Roleplaying style, and I was just worried it wasn't that style but something else.

I'm good to begin whenever. I mean, there are a few things I could change/add in regards to my character and world building, but I'm not too sure.

Hello, I'm new to the forums but i would like to join, please. Here is my character

Name: Akira Kenkyusha

Age: 16 Gender: Male

Appearance: A rather short boy for his age , his black hair is always messy . He wear the standart uniform wich is a little too big for him. He installed his Invocation Device in his laptop, which he always carry.

Personnality: Akira is really passioned by legend and rumors, which is why he love summoning demon. He tend to talk about obscure facts about creatures with anyone he talks or ask them questions about their favorites monster. He is not really good with peoples that does not share his passion and prefer the companionship of his demons.

Summon: A flatwood monster that can use fire magic. He's Akira's main demon in battle.

"SAM" (inspired by BEN) : A computer spirit that helps Akira gather information and screw over pretty much everybody else. He can manifest a physical form but he's not very useful in a fight.

Bio: Lived a pretty much normal life, he was always interested in legends and was amazed by the variety of Devil Summon.

Other: Has a personal database of demons on his computer.

I've just noticed an inconsitency with my character caused by me reading over a sentence in the OP. I'm spending my entire first post fixing it instead of editing my profile because whoops. (and having a spare source of angst cant go badly in a persona based rp) in other news, maybe there should be a discussion thread?
