Why does it matter if his hand is glowing? Strongly prefer single image.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Hand glowing adds in more context that he had used magical powers from said hand and that said hand and arm became skeletal as a result.
He doesn't have to have magical powers. The additional panel is misleading because it implies that is key.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Then those president images are also a good candidate as they demonstrate that stress from ruling's causing them to age more rapidly.

Yes but the current is better IMO.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. As we've shown earlier in the thread, no, they don't demonstrate that at all.
Plus they've been touted as "a real life example of Cast from Lifespan" (no, they're not that either) and as has been correctly pointed out, real life occurences are not a storytelling device.

Have anything better?
There's one troper here that said "Keep Until Better Image Suggested" and a couple of others who like said picture accompanied by another that showed extra context (rejected by said troper because he thinks it could make people think that it's about a supernatural occurrence even though it doesn't have to be one).

I'd say 46.1, then. So far everybody but one like it, and there have been multiple people expressing a dislike of either the current or the presidents.
When was this? No one has actually refuted my points in post #40.
Besides, there's dozens of pages illustrates with real life examples and pictures. That is a flimsy criterium for nixing a pic.
Even if there's nothing inherently wrong with the Presidents' image, I prefer 46.1. The "power" and "price" is more clearly depicted.
People age differently (which is why we have Younger Than They Look and Older Than They Look tropes), and there are many other factors that contributes to a person's aging besides the "stress from being president", so it's not as illustrative.
#52.
Just realised another person at #48 rejected the thing outright (if you interpret "still not a fan" as rejecting it, of course).

on 46.1.
&
I know, and frankly that's why I'm supporting the Mozenrath two panel. What I'm refuting is the affirmation that it's been unanimously decided that the president's image is inherently not illustrative at all. Call it misplaced pride in my work, but I do believe that the presidents image is illustrative; it's all the other factors you mention that's basically disqualifying it before the eyes of many. To me, they'd be an interesting asterisk to put in the image caption, but I'm willing to accept people aren't comfortable with wholly unambiguous illustrations and so table it in favor of 46.1.
Heck, if we wanted to apply those same high standards to 46.1, glowy hand =/= power, it equals Power Glows, which is tangential. But do we really want to disqualify the only image we're agreeing on because of a technicality?
@54: It's absolutely necessary. The trope is Power at a Price, not Price.
I'm not rejecting the president pictures, and now think that it can work, but there's people who think otherwise because of the reasons they've sited.
And I like that picture with the glove and skeletal hand, as to me, it demonstrates the trope perfectly. But I'm not the complainers.

For what it's worth, I don't think the presidents one works either. Mainly because
1. It doesn't really show the power aspect
2. The "price" bit is pretty nebulous in that image anyway; yeah they look older but honestly for it being a 4-8 year difference I don't think it falls far enough outside the realm of natural aging to be a clear illustration. They look older because they are older.
Reaction Image RepositoryCould anything be done with this page from Murciélago? It discusses it, yes, but you also see the results of the guys in pain.
I think all of that issue is on the same webpage, it's a fun and easy read that way but it makes it hard to tell which you meant. Were you thinking of page #21?
Yeah, that's what I was referring to.
Not any better than the skeletal hand.
Check out my fanfiction!Him having some power is key. I very much doubt any one picture can demonstrate every sort of power the trope can refer to.
I have a message from another time...His clothing alludes to some kind of power. It implies royalty or at least wealth, and is non-specific in a way that a magic glowing aura is not.
Also, I mean I think specifically having a second panel with magic says something that we don't want to say. If a good single image involves magic powers, great.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. For now, can we at least agree that the current image is bad and zap it?
No.
