the mech's name is Earth Engine. Livlaster is the gun thing that Daichi inserted in the slot in front of the pilot seat
So wait, the earth engine is powered by libido as well? :p
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntNo, that's the booby lady who's attacking the earth with her mecha.
Watch SymphogearThat was... kind of a mess. Like, it had no idea what kind of tone it was trying for
Visually pretty good, at least
So the Gears of the Earth are the successors of Kiraboshi? (KIRABOSHI!)
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntFirst impressions:
Visually pretty, but I'm fully expecting this to be terrible. It's got the aesthetic of Star Driver without the irreverence. Unless the writing staff is brilliant, this will probably turn into one of those incredibly preachy series that I loathe.
Woah, BONES, you really went all out. That was the most visually pleasing anime I've seen this season. Reminded me of Sunrise's stuff except it's better. That ending song at the end(Will it be the ED or the OP, I don't know), is also pretty nice.
Storywise I feel this will either be an Eureka Seven AO(Terrible, very) or an epic. Hoping for the latter, but I have no idea what's going on so eh, might as well wait for next week.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueIt's entertaining enough for sure, and yes, very pretty. Hopefully it will actually be good and not spend all its effort on flashy transforming robot battles rather than writing and character development...Well, Bones has done a lot of anime that I'm personally rather fond of. And Teppei is somehow adorable.
I also don't understand what's going on but that's probably intentional. Just non-explicative entertainment for the first episode.
P.s. Kilt Gang.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Have to say though, that's a VERY involved and complex gattai sequence there — not only does it need a rocket launch, but the PRECISE alignnment of three orbital stations.
If this series had a savvy villain, I'd ignore the launched Impacter altogether — I'd just attack one of the stations instead. But that's HIGHLY unlikely, given what we've seen so far.

On the other hand, the separation could be to avoid smart villains in a different way - it prevents the entire robot from being destroyed at once when not in operation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0If so, that is a remarkably terrible strategy. It mean you only have a third of the resources to defend each individual part, and the fact that it makes it harder to destroy the entire thing doesn't mean much when the other two parts are basically useless is you lose one.
Not to mention that relying on orbital station should result in them having to wait for all three of them to line up every time they want to launch. It's probably something best not thought about
That has to be one of the most complicated yet awesome combination sequences ever.
Something bad will happen to the Earth if the baddies reach there? Couldn't help but think of The Angels.

one reason I thought about for the complexity of the launch/combination sequence is that launching a huge object from the surface requires a lot of fuel to achieve escape velocity and launch towards the Moon in a reasonable time frame. they launch the pilot with a small vehicle to keep the payload light, then each orbital way station accelerates the impactor a bit while adding pieces.
Fuel? I thought these kinds of devices were powered by determination and friendship.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.ITYM Spiral Power
Clearly Super Robot.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThe anime is very pretty, but the first episode didn't even have consistent tone, and it raises so many questions that if not answered properly will make whole thing really stupid.
I'll keep watching for now.
Hmmm.
That's a pretty elaborate combination sequence.
If the enemy doesn't try to smash it at one point, I'll be totes disappointed.
Also, I think this kid will be alright. He's got Magical Girl Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV backing him up.
So Captain Earth? Are you our hero? are you going to take [[strike: pollution these evil dudes of whom I don't know the name yet down to zero?]]
~Ducks a brick~
One Strip! One Strip!Someone mentioned how the opponents are once again using mecha powered by Libido, but no one's commented on how the Impacter/Earth Engine is powered by Orgone... which is basically the same thing. See the definition from Wikipedia below:
So basically life energy, just viewed either positively or negatively.

not any more stupid than the DNA in Majestic Prince as a way to power (or OP) a mech.
Leaked opening animation. That second half looks like actual footage from the next episode...

"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - Sue
Livelaster has a tranfsormation sequence of GaoGaiGar, the look of the Gunbuster with the color scheme of Heroman.
This pleases me.
