The best part of this episode, apart from the subtle gay dating reference, is the Imagine Spot where Clarence fantasizes about what happens to his teacher when students aren’t around. The ending was unnecessarily brutal.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Of course, the imagine spot was the only thing in the ep that Cartoon Network ran in the promo on Youtube. :/ Sure. Show the one best moment in the whole episode days prior.
I think the episode hit its high note after Clarence met old Clarence and sort of stayed there until Josh's unfortunate outtro. It has shades of my favorite episode of Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends: "Frankie My Dear"
I might be the only one who found the Ambiguously Gay scene to be the most satisfying to swallow.(Don't take that the wrong way.)
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceNo, you're not the only one, though the episode in general was pretty good.
Preview for "Belson's Sleepover" is out. This episode was originally planned to be the debut of Belson on the show, meaning that this episode should have come before “secretly likes dolphins” Belson. The reason they’re airing it now is because it fits better as a Halloween special.
Considering that other people mentioned liking that scene, no, you aren't the only one. I had forgot it happened, but yeah, it was pretty cool.
Heh. Clarence can be adorable sometimes.

That explains why Belson's appearance in "Money Broom Wizard" had a very As You Know vibe to it, where his relationship with Clarence, Jeff, and Sumo was spelled out in non-explicit terms but in a way that felt strange to viewers at first pass.
Mabey they'll make it like a flashback episode, where they're remembering knowing Belson the first time.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI have to say I usually hate plots that have kids acting surprised that teachers or parents are human beings.
It works better here because Clarence is...Clarence, and I understand the thought that kids are unable to relate adults, especially authority figures, but actually thinking that teachers live at school or never do things like shop (ala one episode of Recess) always annoyed me because I've never meet a kid stupid enough to actually believe that.

I knew kids that thought their teachers stayed at the school all the time, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't react to seeing a teacher outside of school the same way that Clarence did.
You could just see his brain short-circuiting. It was priceless.
Well, that was certainly one of the best episodes so far. What was with Clarence's sudden voice change with the "Didn't you all have a fun time today on our adventure" line?
He wanted to talk like an adult. It kind of makes me mad that Belson is a brat for no other reason but to make friends/be a bitch.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWell, he comes across as more of a "spoiled rich brat" kind of character to me. Still a bit of a "bitch", but not really a full-fledged bully, as it were.
I liked when Brady lost and got to go back to Belson's room and ended up staring at the poster of Lara Croft.

I forgot that scene. Damn, that was creepy.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceCreepy? I thought it was hilariously true to life, though perhaps they're still a touch young for that sort of thing.
Also Jeff giving Cynthia counseling.
A better episode than last, I'd say. Sumo was amazing as always, and Clarence taking everything at face-value was pretty adorable. His voice changing at the end was random as hell though. Jeff playing psychiatrist to Belson's mom (who's the most adorable mom I've seen on this show) was kind of cute, if a bit odd and somewhat unsettling.
Besides the Lara Croft poster, I saw a Resident Evil-looking one in the episode too. It had a person who looked a lot like Leon on it.
I think by "creepy", he meant how the scene was just the kid, eating his salty food, staring at the Lara Croft poster while no music was playing.

It was Leon.
They were going to show Belson playing Resident Evil 6, but Capcom stepped in and made us stick with a poster instead.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justicePreview for "Too Gross for Comfort" is up on the official Clarence Facebook page.
Do Clarence and Chelsea sound a bit different to anyone else? I could probably attribute Clarence to maybe having been voiced by Spencer Rothbell this episode (not sure), but Chelsea sounds like she has a cold.
Poor clarence, he's just trying to be diplomatic.
Why does this reek of Girl vs Boy BS that we don't need in Western Animation anymore?! At least Clarence seems to know how stupid everyone around him is acting, going by that promo...
Here's hoping this at least goes as well as that Sleepover episode with Kimby did.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Aw, and Clarence is still kinda adorable. He just wants to make "fwiends", while Sumo (of course) is adamant about the "Man Nest's" rules.
"Girls vs Boys" is a thing that usually happens with children, especially when it involves treehouse/boys/girls clubs. I wouldn't expect anything more than what the promo implied.

Well, that was an interesting ending to "Too Gross For Comfort".
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your grief
Another Clarence episode I only happened to catch, and it seems to be the one that put my girlfriend off the show for good. There were a lot of cringe-moments in it, but I felt that the ending (the fact that the teacher ended up enjoying the night despite all the crap she went through) made up for it. I'm "meh" on Josh's fork-in-the-eye incident, but that's probably because I've only seen him in the "Nature Hike" episode and haven't gotten attached to him at all really.
That said, of the three mains, I think I prefer Sumo over Clarence, although I kind of understand some of Clarence's thought processes. I'm neutral to Jeff... for now (the show's YMMV page makes it sound like Jeff's worse than he seems though).
