That is how it works.
Seriously is different from aggressively or irrationally. Let's face it, if you want to create fiction you have be over engrossed in it. You have to care what happens to the story and characters or you'll sit bored throughout the whole thing.

Thanks for taking the words out of my mouth. If people take cartoons seriously to the point of getting butthurt over opinions and insulting and bullying people over it, then they have some fucking problems.
I don't mind if fans love their favorite shows to the point of having favorite/least favorite characters though, because that's how it's supposed to be anyway. Just like Psi said, you do have to love the story and characters when you're writing it or else you won't have anything good. Plus, with fans liking and enjoying the characters, that's how the people involved in creating the movies/shows make their money.

The work put into making a cartoon entertaining is what has to be taken seriously."...Yeah. THAT is what I meant to say.
I'm sorry - I didn't word it as best as I could have.
Thanks. That is what I really meant to say. I'll go take my beating now.

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Definitely sounds a lot better.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. All completely true.
For whatever reason there are far fewer horrible TV shows than horrible films, and I think it's because of the nature of the medium. With a movie you have one chance, and that's it, but with a TV show you have several chances to get it right.
If a show gets renewed it is obviously doing something right, whereas shows that last only one season are either Too Good to Last or So Bad Its Horrible. (There are a few exceptions to that, but they prove the rule.)

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Well, there's also that film as a medium has been around much longer than TV. And that there's a lot more bureaucracy you need to go through if you want to get a show on TV, whereas with a film, you can literally do every step of the process on your own. I also feel like most people who would go to a TV studio with a show concept (who don't already have some kind of clout) just do it on the internet these days.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Fanboy and Chum chum, would like to have a word with you.
OK, from 1991 to June 2009. That make you happy?
Besides, I don't think Fanboy And Chum Chum is a bad show anyway; it's actually rather decent. I never paid attention to the show because it came out when I stopped watching Nickelodeon, but it isn't truly terrible, from what I've seen.
(I've also read an interview with the creator. He seems like a pretty cool guy.)

I mentioned my opinion on the show a few pages back. I feel no need to repeat it here.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."What I meant to say is, I question how you find that Fanboy and Chum Chum decent, and you somehow found Avatar to be worse.
But this isn't thread for that.
But I have the right to voice my disagreements.

Well then, PM me if you wish...
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Eh, pass.
It's OK. Nobody really wants to hear long, psychotic ramblings about how everyone is an idiot except me.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Well, I mainly couldn't resist the urge of disagreeing with what you said about Avatar. Aside from that, it is your opinion.

Let's not get all persecution complex-y here.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.At least tropers are generally sane. I'm lucky nobody's told me to die in a grease fire for my opinion.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I mean, to be fair, it'd probably have been removed by a mod and the person's post thumped by the time you saw it anyway.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.FIGHT, FIGHT!
(kiss, kiss)
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."I never really found the newer seasons of Spongebob Squarepants all too bad. Stupid, yes, but not as terribad as most fans would want you to believe. Some episodes were actually pretty good. Especially Spy Buddies, Sandcastles In The Sand, and Squidward's Symphony.
I thought the ending to "Face Freeze" was hilarious.
I think the hatred for new Sponge Bob has reached heights that it probably never should have gone. The harassment of Casey Alexander ought to prove this.
They had a beach underwater too. It should logically follow that they could make sandcastles.
